🧪 Early Information on Round 2 of Tower of Styx Heroes [Part of The Beta Beat v50]

This thread is to provide early insights and discussion on the initial release of the Tower of Styx heroes.


Don’t get too attached

Details from Beta, especially brand-new Beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual release.

It’s incredibly common that features are changed during Beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of Beta testing.

So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of features to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to functionality to be made.


New Event – Tower of Styx !!


Note on Styx Speed.

You’ll notice that all the new heroes do not have a traditional mana speed listed (e.g. Fast, slow average). Instead they have the phrase “Styx” listed.

Similar to Ninja heroes all these new heroes have over-clocked the mana bar, and here you we will have only three tiers, and it can be a completely different special skill on each tier so the second and third tier is not a always a more powerful version of the first tier.

Preliminary testing shows that it takes about ~6 tiles to fill the mana bar of the Heroes to first tier, and 9 tiles to charge to second tier, and 12 for the third tier.

What I mean by this is that each hero ha 3 “tiers” to their special skill.

  • If you cast with 100% mana, you get the first tier. OR
  • You can wait & keep accumulating MORE mana… Then if you cast when the bar is filled 2x or 3x times (i.e. 200% or 300% mana), you get the second and third tier of effects.

Hording more mana doesn’t give any new effect beyond the third tier.

The exact wording on the hero cards is:

  • Special Skill has different effect if charged with 100% / 200% / 300% mana.

*There are a total of ten (10) new heroes added to Beta for testing; these have been indicated to be for the new Tower of Styx heroes upon the already released two heroes (Nyx, Hypnos).

The new heroes form the “Styx” family and have a family bonus for each unique hero in the team:

Bonus for 1 / 2 / 3 Heroes:

When this Hero recieves a status ailment affecting defense, 40% / 60% / 80% chance to cast the received ailment to all enemies.

    • Each fallen ally has 40% chance to get revived with 10% HP.
    • All allies regenerate 459 HP over 3 turns.

    • Boosts health of all allies by 600. Boosted health can exceed max HP.
    • Each fallen ally has 60% chance to get revived with 20% HP.
    • All allies regenerate 732 HP over 4 turns.

  • 2x Mana Charge:
    • Deals 580% damage to the target.
    • The target can’t summon new Minions with Special Skill and receives 100 damage for each Minion they attempt to summon for 3 turns.
  • 3x Mana Charge:
    • Destroys all Minions from the target.
    • Deals 615% damage to the target.
    • The target can’t summon new Minions with Special Skill and receives 100 damage for each Minion they attempt to summon for 4 turns.

  • Special Skill has a different effect when charged with 100% / 200% / 300% mana:
  • 1x Mana Charge:
    • Deals 170% damage to all enemies.
    • All enemies get -25% decrease of any healing received for 3 turns.
  • 2x Mana Charge:
    • Deals 300% damage to all enemies.
    • Summons a Styx Spirit Fiend for all enemies. The Fiend damages its target with 40% attack every turn.
    • The Stygian Spirit Fiend absorbs healing. It disappears after absorbing a healing amount equal to 20% if its target’s max health.
  • 3x Mana Charge:
    • Deals 335% damage to all enemies.
    • Summons a Styx Spirit Fiend for all enemies. The Fiend damages its target with 40% attack every turn.
    • The Stygian Spirit Fiend absorbs healing. It disappears after absorbing a healing amount equal to 20% if its target’s max health.
    • All enemies get -75% decrease of any healing received for 4 turns.

(Yes, the Fiend is called in two different names. It is reported to Staff, and I will fix this once Staff decides which will be the final Fiend name)

  • Special Skill has a different effect when charged with 100% / 200% / 300% mana:
  • 1x Mana Charge:
    • Deals 440% damage to the target.
    • For 3 turns each time an enemy’s mana is increased by a Special Skill, status effect, level property, passive skill, family effect or minion, they receive 150 damage.
  • 2x Mana Charge:
    • Deals 580% damage to the target.
    • All enemies are immune to new status effect buffsfor 3 turns. Attempted mana generation buffs will be replaced by -34% mana generation for 3 turns.
  • 3x Mana Charge:
    • Deals 620% damage to the target.
    • Each falled ally has a 50% chance to get revived with 10% HP.
    • All enemies are immune to new status effect buffs. Attempted mana generation buffs will be replaced by -34% mana generation for 3 turns.

Brontes will be poor mans Xnolphod, I like that. Although even 4* heroes can be super hard to get from Towers… I hate that they put such high attack stats on 4* support heroes now and take that from defense and hp, it makes it harder to use them efficiently against 5*s

Off the top of my head, this tower would be difficult to complete given these skills and passives of the new heroes.

Erebus is pretty lackluster IMO. First Charge - Hits Hard Second Charge - Hits harder - Third charge - hit hardest.

It’s like Dr. Seuss wrote this special skill

Do the fiends disappear after 3 turns?

There are some typos in Virgil’s special skill.

It’s a shame that the revive isn’t the first part. It’s nice to see another non-green 5* reviver.

This was Charon, but I have this skill as the +50% attack is not part of the skill. I have removed it.

I have also fixed Virgil’s typo: helath instead of health.

It was some left over in the text. I have removed it.

Monk, Cleric, Wizard heroes are excluded from the first five floors in the event , and these classes are changed every 5 floors except if they are Styx heroes.
Styx heroes with these classes are available for use anytime in the event.

Imo, that’s the blue version of C MN. C MN has. 55% revive. Move over MN….

well 60% at very slow speed, that wont speed up in VF wars, to be fair

@Jomps Charge 3 is just “Slow” (12 tiles), but yes, fast wars / tournaments are making these heroes much worse.
