Or: How many summons are needed to get a Challenge Event Hero?

Special thanks to @Garanwyn for assistance on summoning odds and proofreading for this section.

It’s important to remember that Challenge Event Heroes have EXTREMELY low summoning odds. No amount of summoning will guarantee a Challenge Event Hero.

On average, in a 10-pull, you have a 2% chance of summoning Puss in Boots.

But that statistic can lead our minds astray in exactly how our odds play out as we continue summoning.

Some useful insights:

  • 18 times out of 100, you’ll get Puss in Boots by pull 100
  • 63 times out of 100, you’ll get Puss in Boots by pull 500
  • 95 times out of 100, you’ll get Puss in Boots by pull 1500
  • 99 times out of 100, you’ll get Puss in Boots by pull 2300

Putting that in Perspective

  • 82 out of every 100 people won’t get Puss in Boots by the 100th pull

  • If 1 Million players each summoned 100 times, 820,000 of those players wouldn’t get Puss in Boots

  • 5 out of every 100 people won’t get Puss in Boots by the 1500th pull

  • If 1 Million players each summoned 1500 times, 50,000 of those players wouldn’t get Puss in Boots

More Insights & Reading

I highly recommend reading these two threads for more information and context on summoning odds:

If you’ve read them a million times before, you may consider reading them again before deciding on your budget for summoning. A little time spent deciding on how much money you want to risk on summoning goes a long way to avoiding disappointment, frustration, and regret later.

I don’t know if this was asked in some other place before, but after Seshat receives a minion from Puss, it will be considered as own?

Therefore, this is my question and scenario. Seshat gets a minion due to Puss special and I’m curious if 3 turns later this minion will be cloned.

I’d guess yes as it’s worded that summoner minions summon a minion for themselves.

No other info regarding the stats or skill of that minion so it would have to be derived from the minion summoner…? Like the next dot point down about the mouse minions gives details about HP and attack which are missing from the first line.

Means that someone like QoH becomes much more annoying if the puss is on the field.

No because it’s not a replicator minion.

Wouldn’t it be tho? It says that the summoner allies summon a minion for themselves…? I.e. each summoner triggers the “summon minion” component of their special?

Yes, each Summoner ally Summons their own type of Minion, so the Minion has the same attributes and behavior as usual.

@Guvnor has it right.

Oh weird. I skipped over “summoner allies” this makes me like the hero much less. I thought it summoned one minion for each ally and 3 minions for itself. That seemed cool. A healer who provides meat shields, I liked it.

From first glance I would say his HOT and minions will be a very annoying combination of they can stay on the field.

On a similar vein minion killing heroes are likely to be useful so while I don’t think he is counter less it definitely will need a niche attack team if he is on defense.

One final concern I have and why I rarely say much on these hero preview type threads is that giving him emblems may make already annoying into downright scary. Imagine this scenario I am attacker with only Puss in Boots left on defense against only Khiona, on offense. Both are rogues so emblems are ultimately a wash assuming 20 on each. If Puss is full mana his extra minion might be just enough to live through Khiona’s burst and them fire to heal for more sustain than Khiona. Thus I lose a very close battle. That said imagine this scenario with more pure snipers such as Lianna again against Puss in Boots and his minions again give just enough extra hp to sustain through the burst.

I am not saying Puss in Boots appears to be a panacea of all defense, but he definitely seems solid as a tank or even as a wing if keeping him alive results in a derivative of the aforementioned attack scenarios.

The use for this hero in attack is not quite as certain, but would likely be moderately useful in the correct team especially given the attackers natural advantages thoroughly covered in many other threads.

With a team of heroes summoning minions, PIB can help to create a real army!

Suprisingly, Grimble comes as HOTM at the same time

Aaaanyway I like the cat, notably because when I was young my preffered Fairytale was The wonderful world of Puss in Boots (it’s a japanese anime. No, I am not kidding. Btw it’s great). The minions are always nice, and healing helps. Could be a good tank, even when he does not have tankiest stats around. Would be also nice with Cheshire Cat lol.

I never maxed Delilah or Red Hood (both at 3/70). If he triggers them, then they become more useful at 3/70.

I wonder how it will work for Inari who only has a chance on a special hit? What about Druids?

If he triggers those, then it looks like I will be chasing after the fur ball.

Yes for Inari.

No for Druids (unless their Special Skill also has a Minion Summoning component).

Conditional Summoners still Summon, but Druid Talents don’t.

So PIB only summons minions for heroes that are capable of summoning their own minions?

Yes, plus himself.

So his skill has two minion components:

  1. All heroes who normally can generate a Minon do so
  2. Puss makes 3x mouse minions for himself (instantly)

Then there is the HoT and Attack buff component too but theyre not directly minion making

Thanks for making that clear. At 1st i thought everyone gets a minion but apparently only those allies who could summon for themselves get one. :+1:

My roster and I want this cat.

We love boots, cats and are in dire need of a cool looking, minion thrower, shiny new average speed red card.

Come on, RNG, give me this one! Just this once… :upside_down_face:

If I get him, I am gonna hear Antonio Banderas’ voice in my head whenever I play him. Lol.

@FabulaSumus Happy b-day!! :birthday::metal:

Aren’t we the coolest birthday gals who could get Antonio Banderas in Boots, @Aunty_Krauser?
