🧪 Early Information on Updated Fables of Grimforest Challenge Event [Part of The Beta Beat V24]

NOTE: Please do not, under any circumstances, share IMAGES OR VIDEOS from Beta in this or any public Forum thread. Violations can cause players to lose their Beta accounts, or threads to be closed down.

This thread is to provide early insights and discussion on the new Fables of Grimforest Challenge Event overhaul.

Don’t get too attached

Details from Beta, especially brand-new Beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual release.

It’s incredibly common that features are changed during Beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of Beta testing.

So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of features to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to functionality to be made.

The launch date for the new version of Fables of Grimforest has not been announced yet

New Challenge Coins

Challenge Coins can be received from Challenge Event Rewards, as well as from new “rare enemies” called a Suspicious Chest that appears at random in Challenge Event Stages.

10 Challenge Coins can be used for a free Summon from the Challenge Event Portal.

Challenge Coins appear to be copper colored (more orange than EHT and ETT), and are pentagon shaped. They have each of the 5 Challenge Event Family symbols on them, so they appear to be intended for use across Challenge Events, not specific to one Event.

The premise of Suspicious Chests appears to be similar to the concept of Orichalcum Seadragons appearing at random during Atlantis Rises and dropping Atlantis Coins, which can then be used for Summons. One difference is that in initial testing, it appears that Suspicious Chests only drop a single Challenge Coin — but you only need 10 of them for a Summon, not 100.

This item can be received as loot from a Rare Challenge Event enemy.

More Details on the Suspicious Chests

They appear at random in a mob/monster slot. So far I’ve only personally seen a couple, so this information may need to be updated, but there were 3 useful things to note:

  1. The Suspicious Chests are the same element/color that has the Elemental Barrier that reflects all direct damage and status effects from the same element.

  2. The Suspicious Chest is “Invulnerable” and “Shielded,” which means that it’s “Vulnerable to damage only during the turn before it attacks.” This is an intrinsic attribute, not a Status Effect, so it can’t be dispelled, and shouldn’t be removable, even by Guardian Chameleon. The chest shows the word “INVULNERABLE” below it at all times, and the pop-up information when you tap and hold on it shows “Shielded,” along with the explanation above.

  3. Defeating the Suspicious Chest adds 5000 bonus points to the Stage Score.

New Stages, Bosses, and WE Costs

There are now 15 Stages for each tier of the Challenge Event (Rare, Epic, and Legendary), and they have new Bosses and WE costs, many of which are effectively reduced vs. the current Challenge Events.

I’ve noted all of the WE costs below.

And yes — there really are Stages costing 1 WE in Rare and 2 WE in Epic now, which may make for interesting opportunities when filling Monster Chests or farming XP during Challenge Events.

Rare Tier

Stage Rare Epic Legendary
1 1 2 3
2 1 2 3
3 1 2 3
4 2 3 4
5 2 3 4
6 2 3 4
7 3 4 5
8 3 4 5
9 3 4 5
10 4 5 6
11 4 5 6
12 4 5 6
13 5 6 7
14 5 6 7
15 5 6 7

New Event Duration and Schedule

Challenge Events have been expanded to 5 days, and now begin on Wednesday instead of Thursday.

New Rewards

As with Knights of Avalon that’s been released to the live game, the Rewards have been fairly radically improved, and the brackets have been enlarged.

Oh man now we have 2 events we’re waiting on reward info for lol

Did anyone try in beta to see if Snow White can kill the entire team if Wilbur fires first? And what power should be this team to not be decimated by her special (after Wilbur’s, of course)? And the extra percentage applies only for removed status, even if she also removes the Wilbur buffs? I mean, which it will be, 75 or 150 extra percentage?

And most important. The hit applies to the target under -def? I hope she doesn’t remove first…

She does, the Special Skill fires in the order it’s written on the card.

The removal of buffs and status ailments is what increases her damage amount, so barring there being an undispellable defense debuff, it’s impossible for her to hit enemies while they’re debuffed.

At least this is useful for perfect riposte…

And for Mitsuko, her special skill will be lethal for her instead, if she is in defense and fires before Snow White. Hahaha

Or not? Because she adds buffs… So this I asked in the first post. Extra percentage is only for status ailments?

Puss looks like 5* version of chef Boldtusk. I wonder about the synergy if he tanked with QoH hidden in the corner.

She would remove Mitsuko’s reflect before she hits, and every buff removed increases Snow White’s damage.

It seems you didn’t understand. This is what I ask. Because the extra percentage is applied only for status ailments, literally.

No, it’s status effects, not ailments. Read it again.

If the defense had Tarlak and Mitsuko with buffs up (3) and the attacker with Snow white had Wilbur with buffs up (2), she would remove every buff from both teams (5) and she would hit the other team for 180% + (5Ă—15%) = 255% damage.

Lol, read too quickly

It is something I don’t understand. A maximum of 420% - 180%= 240%. This difference actually represents the maximum of status effects removed. So 240:15= 16. Which are those 16 status effects? I didn’t count yet, but seems too many…

Remember they come from both teams. So theoretically you could take 8 from each side. Offense and defense are counted separately even if they have the same effect.

Total defense effects + total offense effects = total x 15%

So wilbur only denfse down and up for both teams is 10 x 15% - additional 150% damage to the 180% base correct?

Is the spirit link removal on top of that?

Even so… Attack/def + and -. So 8. Blind. 10 till now. Dot 12. You see, I count both sides already. What else?

Wilbur only would be worth 60%

Defense down and link for the defense (2)
Defense up and link for the offense (2)

4 x 15% = 60%

Significant nerfs to Snow White … Slow speed, lower starting damage and lower damage cap.

But she got a notable buff: she hits all enemies now.

I did bring up before that she’d be a good ally to Kiril for having the damage increase with dispelling any status effect from both sides though :stuck_out_tongue: And now hitting all enemies, she’s got that synergy working even better.

Even with slow speed, I can still see something like Kiril → Frida → Athena/Isarnia → Richard → Snow White being very deadly to the entire enemy team.

Puss In Boots getting Average speed, probably deserved as he seemed underwhelming before. Those mice minions look more like meatshields than anything though, having a chance to miss is just bad despite the decent attack stat they have. I’d prefer to replace them with other more useful minions myself… and getting average speed now makes that much more likely, as he’s not gonna fire last.

He’s a decent support hero now at least, thanks to getting average speed, that attack boost is more relevant as it’s more likely he’ll fire it when there’s tiles to use. I like his synergy with other summoners and Druids too. Particularly Red Hood and Zimkitha in a red stack, that sounds really nice.

YEEEEAH we get a version of Gretel in 3* form!!! That’s awesome, she’s going to be a staple on 3* tournaments for me. I’m gonna save all challenge coins I get just to get her lol.

Deals 200%180% damage to the targetall enemies, and additional 20%15% damage per removed status effect, up to 520%420% damage in total.

Isn’t the 15% on a removed status effect for every single enemy. If not doesn’t make a lot of sense - is a very rare situation ( can’t think immediately even ) where you will have 8 different status effects per team

It’s my understanding that it is unique buffs per side. Not per enemy. Dealing 420% to everyone on a team SHOULD be a rare case. You’d kill a whole team.
