 Did you need to use a lot of items this time on Trials of Strength?

(hat tip to @JAWS_3D for this question)

  • Yeah, I nuked the bosses from space. Ripley would approve.
  • I used some items to finish off the bosses, but it wasn’t the full arsenal
  • I used support items like mana, banners, healing, and maybe a battle item or two, but nothing too crazy
  • I just used some minor items, like healing, mana, or antidotes
  • I didn’t use any items

:dizzy: Special Questions for Trials of Strength

  • Fighter Boldtusk and Fighter Delilah are excellent healer options, but of course not everyone has them. Do you have one of them available, and did you bring them along? If not, how did you manage the lack of healers?

  • The Barbarian and Fighter Classes have some big hitters — the “Strength” name for these Trials is no surprise. Did you find it helped to have some strong attackers for your team?

:grey_question: Standard Questions for All Trials

  • Did your team change notably since last time?
  • Have Costumes caused changes to your team?
  • Did changes to your team make the Trials any easier or harder?
  • What items did you use, if any?
  • What are you doing with your shiny new Emblems?
  • If you beat Stage 3, who’s eating the 3* Trainer Hero?
  • Anything else interesting to share?

Yes. I need 18 more for another Gravemaker node. 4/15 will be a good day.

Look at you go; getting ahead of the curve :stuck_out_tongue:

Sorry for delay in publishing this one. Out now

No big changes, maybe an emblem or two:

Boldtusk +18 / Grimm +20 / Elena / Kingston +8 / Colen

Fairly easy with this team. Towards the end of the boss stage, I had only off-color matches and had used all my healing, so I used bombs to eliminate Azlar (to have a ghost corridor) and take out the last two after Elena got her riposte up. No lost heroes, though.

Trainer is for Jean-François, Fighter emblems for Kingston, I’ve put some emblems on Stonecleave, but probably not a lot more, which means my Barbarian bank is getting very overful…

Boldtusk+18 - Magni+6 - Colen+18 - Grimm+20 - Little John+18

Same team

Finally secured a gem

But it was down hill after that :joy::joy:

Threw some bombs and used a revive

Emblems for the Lion, trainer in the bank

My team:

No items used thanks to a nice board and Miki. The emblems will go to Azlar and Magni.

Same as last time. Colen was killed but revived at the boss so I used a few health pots on him, and a fe2 mana for miki. I was getting no blue tiles. Otherwise easy enough

Team last time

Swapped the lion king for Gretel in the new formation; I just checked my previous post now and realized it was right in the plan.

The battle went smoothly thanks to the decent board, again this would be the first time I will be completing this trial without the use of an item.

So early in the battle the Lion king exited, meanwhile, Gretel’s special was focused on him, he departed without firing.

Thereon, it was point and kill between Grimm and Magni

Barbarian emblems still piling for Azlar waiting for his rings, Fighter emblems would go to BT, while trainer is saved for now.

Finished it with almost the same team, switched Grimm with Fenrir

Boldtusk+1 - Kageburado 4/80 - Poseidon+13 - Gravy+14 - Fenrir 4/55

Was easy to be honest, no items used. Used the trainer for The Hatter to bring him to tier 3 (not busy with a red hero and want to max The Hatter asap)

Emblems saved for Gravy (almost node 15 ) and Poseidon

I brought in Sunny Joon for Elena.

  • On the bench: Elena, Lancelot, Gretel, Sumitomo, Magni, Poseidon, Panther, BT 1 and 2, Hu Tao, Miki 3.70, Grimm 2, Colen, Stonecleave
  • Up and coming: Tyr 2.59

Got to the bosses without issue. I unleashed everyone, and popped the diamonds, resulting in a huge cascade. Both Azlar and Nash went off. Joon got the finishing blow on the lion.

Without the flank to stop the tiles from reaching her, Elena went off, but Kage promptly dispelled her thorns. Nashgar died to bleed damage.

Joon finished the fight.

Trainer to Tyr. Emblems to…it’s complicated. I have the rings to ascend Tyr, but with GM coming next Atlantis, I am slow-walking him until then.

The trial name is very appropriate, as a lot of Barbarians here have raw power. I’m just glad I have Boldtusk, so I can bring a healer. Then the rest:

  • LJ as neutral color against the mobs and to slow down boss mana
  • Grimm as strong color against the bosses and to hit harder
  • Lance to boost mana regen (LJ because slow, BT for the heal + attack boost which has shorter duration than Grimm’s defense debuff)
  • Joon to blind and snipe

My first time trying to do this without nuking (wasn’t confident trying it before, because most of my Barbarian/Fighters are frail and BT is the only healer). Strategy was to hit hard, focusing on Elena (I don’t have a dispeler, so if she goes off I’m dead). Azlar and Nashgar, I can counter with antidotes.

… and… Elena goes down! Whew, the rest is relatively easy-peasy. made it with only modest suppoer item use.

Great therapy after a not-so-ideal week at work (from home)

Trainer to my own Elena, who is on the fast train to maxing.

  • Fighter, might save up for Elena too, she’s only my second Red 5* so will definitely be using her a lot. But maybe I’ll bring BT to +18.
  • Barbarian: if I ascend Malosi, he’s getting them. Grimm, LJ and Gormek are already at good stopping points. But maybe I’ll get lucky and pull Gretel in Grimforest… I can always dream…

My Team Last Time

My Team This Time

Magni out, Poseidon in, I think I prefer sturdy sniper, and 3-blue (2xGrimm) are already great blue tiles results.

The Battle

Not all mana charged because of tile match RNG and Delilah’s minion killing mobs.
Already used 3x mana for Delilah heal, 1x antidots for heal, and 1 bombs because squisyh Grimm almost died in mobs wave.

Used 2x mana for Miki to keep bosses silenced. 1x more bomb to att debuff.

The Reward

Emblems keep stock for a while…
Trainer also keep, no red project. 2nd Kelile is at tier 3.

Completed with:
Boldtusk, Little John, Richard Costume, Magni and Grimm

That’s about as close as it gets! Well done

My team:

Wolf cub takes a bite:

My team this time:

  • Poseidon +7
  • Azlar 4^80
  • Boldtusk +c20
  • Gormek +20
  • Little John +19

Compared to last time, Poseidon is up 1 talent, Little John is up 2, and I drew and maxed Boldtusk’s costume, which provides the relevant bonuses here for his fighter form.

Mob waves were quite straightforward, and the only challenge was deciding whether to use specials, because my slow mana heroes take a while to recharge. Ended up timing everything exactly right and recharged LJ on my final move before the boss wave, ensuring that I was able to unload the full arsenal on the bosses from turn 1. Boss Nashgar seemed to have way better survivability; both Elena and Azlar were at or below one-quarter health pretty quickly, but Nashgar was probably still under half. Of course, I was going after Elena first with the Pitchfork of Doom so she didn’t get riposte up. She went down, and Boss Azlar burned to death. Boss Nashgar actually fired once, which was the only reason anyone on my team finished with less than half health. Thanks to a reliable number of red tiles, I was able to re-fire all of my red heroes, basically sealing the deal. No items touched, which is normal for this trial, last run excepted.

LJ is still a few emblems short of his last talent, and Poseidon is on that horrible 125-emblem 8th node, so no movement with these emblems, even after the additional 10 of each kind from finishing Springvale. Trainer hero goes to Marjana.

Team changed: Took Fenrir4/48 and Miki+1 in, benched Little John+16 and Hu Tao+3. 2 colours blue and red. Grimm+20, Boldtusk+16, Elena+5, Fenrir4/48, Miki+1. While the stones where quite annoying in the prelude, I had all the specials ready, when the bosses entered the stage. Miki silencing+ 100% tile damage, Grimm defense down, Boldtusk Buff, all of a sudden I had a blue diamond, a red board and all cascaded. The bosses died so fast, I did not even think about using any item, and so for the first time in any trial I did not spend a single item. (Yeah!) Emblems saved for Fenrir and LJ. Trainer went to Marjana, now 4/11. (Mount Umber helped here)

I left Kingston on the bench and took Tyr at 3-70 with me… Call it stress-test, haha
I was so curious to see his special and him reviving etc…
Rest of the team: Boldtusk - Grimm +10, - Misandra, Miki (3-70)
Blessed with a good board I ran through the trials without using items.

Note: Tyr didn’t die :frowning: I will take him out raiding to make him
