Or: How many summons are needed to get a Legendary Challenge Event Hero?
It’s important to remember that Challenge Event Heroes have EXTREMELY low summoning odds. No amount of summoning will guarantee a Challenge Event Hero.
On average, in a 10-pull, you have a 1.65% chance of summoning Karnov.
But that statistic can lead our minds astray in exactly how our odds play out as we continue summoning.
Some useful insights:
15 times out of 100, you’ll get Karnov by pull 100 (26,000 gems)
56 times out of 100, you’ll get Karnov by pull 500 (130,000 gems)
95 times out of 100, you’ll get Karnov by pull 1,796 (467,200 gems)
99 times out of 100, you’ll get Karnov by pull 2,761 (717,900 gems)
Putting that in Perspective
85 out of every 100 people won’t get Karnov by the 100th pull
If 1 Million players each spent $259.97 (US) to summon times, 846,364 of those players wouldn’t get Karnov
5 out of every 100 people won’t get Karnov by the 1800th pull
If 1 Million players each spent $4,671.53 US to summon times, 49,663 of those players wouldn’t get Karnov

I highly recommend reading these two threads for more information and context on summoning odds:
If you’ve read them a million times before, you may consider reading them again before deciding on your budget for summoning. A little time spent deciding on how much money you want to risk on summoning goes a long way to avoiding disappointment, frustration, and regret later.
Would be nice anti-Odin on offense except by the time he’s charged he’ll have Gungnir stabbed in his face, possibly multiple times. But definitely anti-yellow-titan material.
I think this may be the hero I want most from this event. Probably wouldn’t be the first option for everyone, but would be really useful for me. Fits in for titans and let’s me have 3 available purple stack teams. Have enough gems saved for one 10 pull and by time finish stages 3 coin pulls. Probably not enough to get lucky but we’ll see…
His sole purpose is to be the tile enhancer for yellow titans (especially yellow). Everything else about this hero is just a disaster.
He is slow and 290% to all at slow speed is meh. Killhare is average and does 300%. In PVP affecting tiles at this moment in fight will have little impact on the match outcome - it will be already lost or won. The fact that he has some backfire on his allies is hilarious - as if he needed to be balanced down like that lol.
I stated this in beta forum and I will repeat - Ratatoskr’s 44% healing is comparable magnitude if not a bit better than Karnov’s 290% dmg to all, while Ratatoskr is average and has no negative effect to allies. They both affect the boards in similar way. And I don’t even use Rat anymore beside the titans (and NT/ToL) as I find the board enhancing skill underwhelming in PVP/wars anyway (compared to my other option for green healer - MN). Karnov should be average speed, or should be released as a 4 star hero like Jott. As is (assuming no changes before final release to last beta) he is very underwhelming.
Yeah, I misread that debuff as a buff at first too. Even without that he would not be nearly not so strong to justify slow speed. He may be even worse than Owl.
I did facepalms. What do you wish to see? Full figure, stats?
Idealy hoped for (in 130 pulls) : Toxicandra, Isrod, Crystalis ( dont have Vela…
wanted to play on defense Mother North- Isrod - Odin - Toxicandra - Onyx // 3ple mana generate // Mother North would be cooking like its christmas 365 days!
Moderate hopes : Toxicandra, Isrod or Asterius (any of those two since I dont have red tank)
Least hoped for : any 1 of the above mentioned heroes, just not Karnov since dark colour is most complete of my roster)
Out of interest, why would you not want to use yellows against Odin? I thought you’d want to use yellows so that you had a reason to remove yellow tiles from the board and therefore weaken his effects.
Exactly my thought. Same as I love people putting out Frigg on war defense tank…
There are no tiles to charge your stack? Poor you… but enemy tank will only tickle as well.
There are many tiles on board for that enemy tank to benefit from? Yea guess what, you benefit from them first.
Frankly Odin tank would just invite me to use my yellow mono because if the board goes his way, it goes my way too, and if the board is terrible, he is no threat as well. I do agree though, only use for Karnov in defense is as a flank to a yellow tank.
I don’t understand why he has that drawback on holy allies, I can’t think of any synergy with this drawback with any heroes. At least for killhare, you have Jean Francois to reverse the defence down. But this effect, there’s nothing to synergize with. Until a mana gen counterpart of Jean arrives, this is just the worse
Enough of making these useless and even slow heroes, tired!
You get this stuff and everyone sympathizes sympathizes with you and regrets you, it’s terribly insulting.
In a world where there are fast, very fast and average heroes, such bad characters shouldn’t exist at all.
My point of view is that, if my tank is nearly double as sturdy to enemy (yellow tiles vs yellow hero), that already makes Odin one of toughest tanks in game (add paladin talent on top of that and his fast speed).
Next, even if you try to remove all yellow tiles, more often than not, 3-4 shields remain, which still makes Odin do 180+% dmg and buff my allies.
But I would have to see this in practice.
Its different with Frigg, where dmg is normal, comparable to Odin yellow vs yellow (weak), so not excactly same
I really see him as tailor-made for titans, so most people won’t be bringing a yellow on their team anyway, and will charge him with mana potions or tornadoes/hurricanes, so wouldn’t mind pulling him at all…
True. But the main caveat here is that he slows down mana gain for 3 of the 5 titan damage boosters (Wu Kong, Ranvir and Guardian Gazelle). This means that unless people have Miki or Tarlak he will still hurt the team.
