Don’t get too attached

Details from Beta, especially brand-new Beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual release.

It’s incredibly common that features are changed during Beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of Beta testing.

So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of features to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to functionality to be made.

The launch date for Season 3 will be February 27

Realm Bonuses Added in Season 3 Beta v3

Realm Bonuses are akin to Family Bonuses, but they have more diverse effects, not just stat boosts, and they often affect all allies or enemies, including those not from that particular Realm.

Like Family Bonuses, members of a Realm are strengthened when multiple unique members of that Realm are present on the same team.

Unlike Family Bonuses, those added strengths for multiple unique Realm members affect stats different than the main effect of the Realm Bonus.

Realms have received significant adjustments since the balance patch on January 30th.

Realm member bonuses (i.e. family bonuses) have been completely removed. Realm effects have been adjusted, all their effects have been toned down. See below for those changes.

Update February 5th 2020: Most Realm effects have received additional changes!

For most realm effects, they now get stronger if there are more heroes of that realm present in the team. The effect values change for 1 member / 2 members / 3 members.

Realms empower their members in unique ways. The more members of the same realm there is in a team, the more powerful the realm effect is.

Update February 7th 2020: Heroes revived through other forms (i.e. Chameleon, Zombie) have no Realms.

Update February 11th 2020: The effect upon death from Asgard, Helheim, Jotunheim, and Vanaheim realms now triggers if a hero dies before being revived in another form (i.e. Chameleon, Zombie). Realm effects are removed from these heroes after reviving in another form.

In line with Norse mythology, there are 9 Realms.

NOTE: Based on both released artwork previews and the uneven distribution of Heroes across Realms, additional Season 3 Heroes are very likely. I imagine the distribution of Heroes will ultimately be more even.

Alfheim Realm

Realm Members: Ratatoskr, Kvasir

  • All allies are healed by 7% 2/4/7% when an Alfheim Hero gains full mana reaches low health.

  • Realm members become stronger in the presence of other unique members of the same realm. (Bonus for 2/3 members: +9%/+13% healing)

Asgard Realm

Realm Members: Heimdall

  • All allies gain a moderate small amount of 10/15/20% mana when an Asgard Hero dies.

Helheim Realm

Realm Members: Tyr, Stonecleave

Jotunheim Realm

Realm Members: Nordri

  • All allies get an Ice Giant minion with 6/10/14% HP and 10/12/16% attack inherited from the caster when a Jothunheim Hero dies.

  • Realm members become stronger in the presence of other unique members of the same realm. (Bonus for 2/3 members: +15%/20% critical chance.)

Midgard Realm

Realm Members: Mist, Brynhild, Sif, Bjorn

  • All allies get +25% +5/+10/+15% attack for as long as a Midgard ally has low health. This effect cannot be dispelled.

Niflheim

Realm Members: Ei-Dunn, Fenrir, By-Ulf

  • All enemies have -21% -5/-10/-15% accuracy for as long as a Niflheim ally has full mana low health. Chance to miss also applies to offensive Special Skills.

They’re borrowing some elements from Puzzle Combat with these new heroes

I’ll comment more in depth as I test, but the one example I noted was with Hiemdall boosting health: This reminds me heavily of Armor from Puzzle Combat. Basically an extension of HP, which is what he does (adds temporary HP if it exceeds it). Like Minions, but without any extra effects.

In Puzzle Combat, Armor is actually a huge part of the metagame there; it’s very powerful particularly when paired with a HoT. The extra HP layer can help with taking DoT for e.g.

Puzzle Combat screenshot, to help explain temporary HP

See the grey bar over my heroes? That’s called Armor. Basically an extension of HP, like minions, but they don’t do anything else.

That is basically what Heimdall’s temporary HP is; same concept as above.

Oh my God please don’t let them make another stupid green resurrection hero :rage::rage::rage::rage:
So sick of it.

Well at least it’s a nature hero, so the same counters that kill those heroes, will kill Heimdall too :stuck_out_tongue: For whatever that’s worth

I thought that at first but with such limited availability of mn and alberich, it will give more players a chance to obtain a good resurrect hero. Probly could have released this hero last year instead of atomos and saved the trouble but oh well

I hate the mechanic entirely and wish it didn’t exist  but yeah I guess since it DOES exist making it more available is equitable. It’s still entirely stupid that they gave necromancy ability to nature heroes. Can you think of anything more unnatural?

Oh gosh, please no. Sumle is so bad right now. Please just remove the 20% miss chance.

They tried it with a hero named Boomer in Puzzle Combat – only difference is secondary skill, Boomer in that game deals more damage if the enemy has armor (Armor = temporary HP like Hiemdall gives).

They eventually removed the miss chance from Boomer’s skill in Puzzle Combat, to make him just a standard hit all hero, and a much better one too. He is much better now, and so will Sumle if they just make him hit all for no accuracy penalty.

(and yes, I realize Boomer is also a hero in E&P lol)

I probly could think of some things but it would be a giant flag parade and I’ve already pushed the envelope past few days lol, think mods would appreciate a break

Tyr is what Atomos should’ve been. Getting it right the second time around I guess

It feels like season 3 will be released sooner than we thought

I kinda like they made necromancy a nature element ability, it is so unique. It’s like blind a cutting mana to yellow for exemple

Yep. Gotta wonder if it isn’t rolled out in the first few months of 2020

Good I read first through the posts, because I was ready to post the same thing

Lol and they say scarecrows don’t have a brain

Necromancy should be a dark ability, and healing should be a holy ability but they’ve made dark the main color of healing and all kinds of weird things. I think it might be because they don’t want to get sued for blatant copyright infringements to MTG.

Fabula the art is already posted

Except it’s not necromancy. It’s resurrection.

I think the likes of Marie-Thérèse are Necromancers and the green (Nature) deals with bringing someone back to life, not reanimating corpses.

Those are different deals
