This thread is to provide early insights and discussion on the Round 6 of costumes for Season 3 (Valhalla) heroes.

Don’t get too attached

Details from Beta, especially brand-new Beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual release.

It’s incredibly common that features are changed during Beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of Beta testing.

So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of features to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to functionality to be made.

Man, I love that they’re not even trying to adjust numbers anymore, these costumes are just straight up buffs :joy:

Costumed Norms mana speed will be SLOW and not Average as the original version.

OK, this is probably the first time they’re changing a special skill speed on a costume! :astonished:

But, now those numbers make a lot more sense…

Actually in Beta Hansel costume was different too. That is reported as a bug.
We are waiting for confimation on that was that intended like it is for Norms or not.

Costumes were designed to have a different class to the base hero - all well and good.

Now, possibly, they can have a different mana speed ?? - confusing

Why not go the full distance and give them a different element from the base hero? That should really confuse everyone ! :confounded:

Wow, this is the first time a costume got a direct nerf. And it’s norns of all heroes. Why though, it’s just like every single one of these lackluster costumes they’re churning out lately

I rather go for this, to have a different element makes it a reason to have it be a costume

To misquote the old saying…
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it’ s a duck

If it doesn’t look like (hero), gain mana like (hero) or have the same element as (hero), then it’s not (hero).

Or like Trigger’s broom (from Only Fools and Horses) it’s had 17 new heads and 14 new handles, but it’s still the same broom

Just another bunch of uninspired, lazy cashgrabs. Meh

I hope that Norns costume will not be slow, this will create a thing that we don’t want to happen, once that they will do that to change the speed of the costumes, they will do it every time when they want even in the feature. It will be the last desired to happen like that. Hope is a bug.

Rendering her back to Average at best with 20% troop mana boost.

Is Zynga worried that a “Fast” Norns will render their latest, bestest, mostest heroes a tad weaker for defence? :joy::rofl:

Surely this is a good move in the right direction. For every action, there must a reaction.

C Norns would be a good counter in offence, with more and more OP heroes dominating defences.

I would be happier if they just stopped doing costume, actually. Or since they’re gonna be the same thing now, make them available in Costume Chamber too. It’s not like they’re worth 100 unfarmable coins compared to 5 farmable keys.

Back then when costumes first started, I made a suggestion that maybe costumes have different elements. Because heroes like wukong can have inclusivity for their skills to different elements who have yet to get gambler effects. But it seems that costumes have been down the path of no return now. It has always been boring with no real changes except they’re mirrored effects
Now the new costumes are just buffs behind a paywall, cemented by the fact that c xnolphod has his original’s 20% mana boost
But changing speeds for costumes could be interesting as well. This could mean that c g owl and c boss wolf will get a tweak in their mana speeds, maybe inverted to v fast?

In another topic @PlayForFun wrote:

So costumes may have a different class, a different Aether Power and now a different mana speed to the base hero.

So what next?

Perhaps give Boldtusk a new clown costume and change his family to Starfall ?

Where does this end?

Zynga is running out of ideas for hero development. The smell of desperation is stronger now.

Hasn’t it always been that way since the beginning?

Nah. In the beginning or at least the early or earlier days, money flowed in with ease. SGG didn’t bother with the recent QOL tweaks cos they didn’t need to expend effort for more revenue.

This game was conceived to be an epic profitable blockbuster, according to the then CEO in an interview made during the earlier days.

Now, with the sale to Zynga and subsequently to TT, focus on revenue has intensified exponentially because acquisition cost should be recovered at the minimum.

Recovery of acquisition cost is from surplus operational cash flow. Therefore, revenue now not only needs to cover operational expenses, it also needs to yield ROI.

Funny, but true, story.

Some (long) time ago I was in a meeting regarding setting up a new distributor in the far east. (I’m in the UK.)

At one point the finance guy asked about the ROI. Export team looked confused.

I quickly explained that the finance guy was referring to Return On Investment - not the Republic Of Ireland.

Yeah that’s a standard response from any Finance person.

That ROI diminishes with each resale unless profitability of asset to be acquired keeps increasing with each resale. It’s possible but hard to achieve.
