:money_with_wings: Avoiding Overspending & Heartache :broken_heart:
Or: How many summons are needed to get a Legendary Challenge Event Hero?

It’s important to remember that Challenge Event Heroes have EXTREMELY low summoning odds. No amount of summoning will guarantee a Challenge Event Hero.

On average, in a 10-pull, you have a 1.65% chance of summoning Hohenwerf.

But that statistic can lead our minds astray in exactly how our odds play out as we continue summoning.

Some useful insights:

  • 15 times out of 100, you’ll get Hohenwerf by pull 100 (26,000 gems)
  • 56 times out of 100, you’ll get Hohenwerf by pull 500 (130,000 gems)
  • 95 times out of 100, you’ll get Hohenwerf by pull 1,796 (467,200 gems)
  • 99 times out of 100, you’ll get Hohenwerf by pull 2,761 (717,900 gems)

Putting that in Perspective

  • 85 out of every 100 people won’t get Hohenwerf by the 100th pull

  • If 1 Million players each spent $259.97 (US) to summon :one::zero::zero: times, 846,364 of those players wouldn’t get Hohenwerf

  • 5 out of every 100 people won’t get Hohenwerf by the 1800th pull

  • If 1 Million players each spent $4,671.53 US to summon :one::eight::zero::zero: times, 49,663 of those players wouldn’t get Hohenwerf

More Insights & Reading

I highly recommend reading these three threads for more information and context on summoning odds:

If you’ve read them a million times before, you may consider reading them again before deciding on your budget for summoning. A little time spent deciding on how much money you want to risk on summoning goes a long way to avoiding disappointment, frustration, and regret later.

Im glad that Hohenwerf looks alot better. A potential infinite mindless attack with no way to really remove it, would have been a nightmare to deal with. Also, given that Stoneskin got a buff recently, wouldn’t his stoneskin be 3 hits instead of 2?

Which heroes have innate immunity to the mindless attack of his minion?

Vela?

Got this dude on 10 pull. Got emblems for him, so guess he’s next up

First Gargoyle event I was aiming for hohenwerf, but he didn’t get released. I pulled 500 times(?) and got el duque and lots of dupe galliairds. So I was happy I got him in less than 50 pulls this time around!

Very good hero, kinda similar to Zocc, but much better:

  • is fast vs average
  • hits way harder
  • does delayed damage by fiend

He doesn’t raise target’s mana like Zocc, but this is compensated by longer ailment.

Heroes like Grazul or Garnet can give immunity to ailments all of your heroes.

Isnt Vela have to do with minions? His is a fiend so they should be different, correct?

Doh! Of course thank you for that info.

Grace is looking better being fast and with the elemental link for 2023

Which of the 2022 HOTM would she best pair with for giving the fiend immunity to an entire defense team? Is this a good idea with the prevalence of El Naddaya?

el nad is far better, imo

I was thinking no friend, no mindless attack. So Grace would be a good counter other than ailment protection . I plan to level 1 bit not for defense.

Not much info on this hero compared to most others that are new.

Is there a reason?

I got one, and slowly leveling him up to 3/40 now, started using him in raids. He packs quite a punch even at this level. I’d say that the main problem with this hero is that he can kill the enemy too fast for his debuff to take effect.

There are 2 reasons:

  1. The attack is quite high as it is now, and if enemy was hit with tiles before, there’s a good change they won’t survive the hit.
  2. If enemy survived, but didn’t have enough mana, naturally you’d want to charge them faster, throwing tiles at them, and the tiles can kill them before they can damage themselves or anyone.
  3. The last explosion can also kill them, especially since they’re not able to heal properly.

Good thing about him is that while he has his stone skin effect, he is basically protected against counterattacks.

Other than that - he’s a pretty solid hero, good fast 5* red sniper, not many of them are available.

Another interesting side-effect of Hohenwerf against Alexandrine - the fiend counters Alexandrine’s healing which happens when Mindless Attack is cast by the fiend. So she is healed by 0, and the fiend becomes damaged, but not dead.

i like his idea

the explosion is a bit underwhelming being on one target

only that part is weak and could use a range or number increase.

congrats to everyone who got him
