Or: How many summons are needed to get an Epic Challenge Event Hero?
It’s important to remember that Challenge Event Heroes have EXTREMELY low summoning odds. No amount of summoning will guarantee a Challenge Event Hero.
On average, in a 10-pull, you have a 56% chance of summoning Shrubbear.
But that statistic can lead our minds astray in exactly how our odds play out as we continue summoning.
Some useful insights:
81 times out of 100, you’ll get Shrubbear by pull 20 (5,200 gems)
95 times out of 100, you’ll get Shrubbear by pull 37 (9,900 gems)
99 times out of 100, you’ll get Shrubbear by pull 56 (14,800 gems)
Putting that in Perspective
19 out of every 100 people won’t get Shrubbear by the 20th pull
If 1 Million players each summoned times, 190,000 of those players wouldn’t get Shrubbear
5 out of every 100 people won’t get Shrubbear by the 37th pull
If 1 Million players each summoned times, 50,000 of those players wouldn’t get Shrubbear
1 out of every 100 people won’t get Shrubbear by the 56th pull
If 1 Million players each summoned times, 10,000 of those players wouldn’t get Shrubbear

I highly recommend reading these two threads for more information and context on summoning odds:
If you’ve read them a million times before, you may consider reading them again before deciding on your budget for summoning. A little time spent deciding on how much money you want to risk on summoning goes a long way to avoiding disappointment, frustration, and regret later.
I make jokes about the bear that appears as a fearsome shrub! Part bear, part plant? How is he put together? The legs of a bear and branches? (Leg Branch!). Maybe roots and a bears upper body? (Bear Root!) ???
I faced him in a tourney just once and he is virtually invulnerable!! I want one . ‘Everyone should want one…’
He/she won me so many battles on 3 star tournament I lost count. Great on defense also, used even on a flank in some cases but it does feel tank is the main role for this dude(ss).
I like that the skill is very unique for 3 star tier. It does help a lot to manage all these nasty AOE gremlins with their mana cuts, debuffs or dispells.
Got one will level at some point. @Fabinas I would normally say one as it’s very doubtful you will run two at the same time. But having extra could be handy for the tower of legends.
Revived this topic as Shrubbear - once lb’d - has proven himself one of what is probably a very select number of 3*s that can mix it up in the A-leagues of 4.9, 5+K TP, close to fully LB’d defense teams.
His defensive stats are on par with a 5* at 3/70, which makes him just OK in regards to surviving to cast. But if you get him there - particularly with support from healers and mana boosters - then his special will do wonders to protect the entire team, usually long enough for other key heroes to charge up and take control of the board.
I use him against heavy hitting teams that I have traditionally struggled against, including in the hated V-formation. I don’t bring him against buff heavy teams where Chakky is more suitable.
I won’t win every raid with him, but to have a 3* that helps win at a 70-80% rate against the top defenses (and not just come along for the ride on good boards) is pretty special. Obviously you could interchange him with BK or Krampus but if you don’t have those top-tier heroes then he is a very workable substitute.
He’s a good hedge with auto taunt now in battles with all AOE hitters, if you are considering a 5* taunt 2nd LB worth trying out the bear for 1 alpha aether before committing 10.
