Def Team suggestions for a newbie

Hello,
I started playing in October 2019. So I am farely new and playing c2w.
My roster isn’t deep and I need help setting up a good Defense Team for wars and raids. I will post a List of my 4* and 5* heroes.

My Idea of a good Defense Team for Wars is: Rigard, Poseidon, Vela, JF and MLF. Any Suggestions?

P.S.: My native language is german. Please correct me, if my english is unacceptable.

First, don’t try to max 5* heroes before you built a good set of 4* heroes. I think, you don’t have enough materials to max them anyway.
You have too many purple and lacks other colors.
Rigard is a very good healer. Have him maxed for sure.
Guardian Jackal too.

Best 3* heroes?

I’m working on developing my 4* heroes but I want to build a solid 3* team for events. I know it is best to change heroes out for different events but i can’t max them all at once so generally what is the best 3* team you have found? I’m looking for a team that doesn’t just have the highest stats but who’s special abilities work well with each other and have decent stats so they stay alive long enough to use their special abilities. What’s your best 3* team and why? Thanks

If you click on the list you can see my whole 4* and 5 * roster with ascensions and levels.
I can max blue, yellow and dark 5*. Marjana is already at max ascension. I got 3 tonics to go for a green 5*.

Poseidon then and I’d honestly do Arthur before Vela. It’ll make your defense sniper heavy, though.

Ok. Poseidon, Arthur, Marjana, Hansel and Proteus would be ok then? 3 snipers, no heal but much mana control.

My main overall advice for New players is:

The first piece of advice - Focus on the 4*s

The best advice I can & will give is to focus on 4* heroes & pause the 5* ones (once you finish their current ascension tier). Reasons being:

1. 5* heroes are very expensive & time consuming to level-up. They need a lot of unfarmable materials
2. 4* heroes who are maxed are more useful than a 5* stuck at 3-70. 4* heroes can be used in more places (more tournaments & more challenge events) than the 5* who’s stuck. Additionally, the 4* hero can be emblemed up while the 5* hero just sits & looks dopy…
3. 4* heroes form the base of the game. In wars & raids, most players (except the very very advanced ones) supplement their line-up with 4* heroes.

My advice is to work on 4* heroes until you get 4x maxed rainbow 4* teams. This will allow you to get:
a) a good base roster to work from. Useful in wars, raids, tournaments, events etc…
b) a good understanding of your play style. What skills & hero types are best suited to you.
c) able to stockpile those extremely rare unfarmable 4* ascension materials (Darts, Tomes etc…)

Only once you got 4x rainbow 4* teams (15-20 maxed 4-stars) would I focus again on 5* heroes.

Understanding the terms

Essentially when we talk positions there are three roles.

1. Tank
2. Flank
3. Wing

In each team there is 1 tank (the center hero). The two positions on ether side of the tank are flanks (cause they flank the tank) and the ones on the very edges are wings.

One thing that is the general consensus is that you put average heroes closer to the tank and fast ones further out… Reason being that the tank protects the flanks and the flanks protect the wings. When the tank is alive, the flanks & wings can only be hit by 1 column of tiles each. When the tank dies, the flanks can be hit by 2 columns each with the wing still only able to be hit by 1 column. This means that the wings will get the least “tile hitting mana generation” so need to charge quickly on their own.

Another important factor to consider is that the AI (your defence team) will fire your hereos left to right. So the left wing fires first, followed by left flank, tank, right flank then right winger.

So when choosing which heroes go where, it’s important to understand each positions role.

The Tank

The tank is the position that is most prone to tile damage with 3 of the 7 lanes hitting it. Tanks g one of two ways. Either they survive a long time or they charge really quickly and do max damage before dying.
Some examples of the “soaking” type of tank include Aegir, Kunchen, Guinevere.
Some examples of the “fast damage” type of tank is Gravemaker. Not many others fit this role.

The best tanks are the ones people fear to face. Ones which can last forever and affect/ damage the enemy teams performance. Someone like Guinevere will heal, provide a purple buff AND cut mana. Yunan will soak up tiles, do both DoA and DoT AND give a healing inhibition. Kunchen will soak tiles, heal his team and lower enemy defence for the snipers.

The Flanks

The flankers are your first of your support heroes. Again, these go one or two ways. Either the flank is a support hero (healer/ inhibitor) or they are a sniper.
A supporting flank is primarily used to keep the tank alive longer. So either they heal the tank, provide him a buff, inhibit the enemy etc… Some examples include Vivica, Ariel, Hel, Kingston etc…
A sniping flank is there to mana up quickly and deal damage to the enemy. These flanks are there slowly to kill the enemy. Some examples of sniping flanks are Magni, Kageburado, Joon, Lianna
There are some times when the flanker can do both roles. Examples include Drake Fong (blind and fast damage), Kingston (sniper and attack down), white rabbit (damage & defence down) and Frida/Evelyn (damage, debuff and elemental down).

Wingers

Like the flanks, these guys are a support role. Usually they’re fast/very fast snipers or healers/revivers.

The most effective healer/revivers are Alberich and Mother North (left wing). These guys have a chance at reviving dead team members as well as providing a healing buff to your team.

Many other people chuck in some fast snipers in the wings like Captain Kestral, Joon or Finley.

Other people throw in their damage over time/ healers. Heroes like Morgan Le Fey and Lady Locke are popular there.

Obviiously there is a misunderstanding in my question. Probably because i can’t write it out properly. I already read all the links and know that i have to get a few 4* teams. I just wanted to know what 4*/5* to level for a good defense team. The ascension materials are hard to come by and even after reading several posts i am unsure where to put them.
