Note: As of April 3, 2022, I have left the forums. I am not updating this post any longer. I put a copy/pasteable version of the list at the end of the thread if anyone wants to pick it up. Thanks for letting me a part of all this for the time it lasted.

I was curious about how heroes have evolved over time, and went looking for a chronological listing. I didn’t find one, so I took a stab at making one myself using the forum, the wiki, release notes, and @Razor’s enphero.com. Most of these heroes were released before I even knew of the game, so please let me know where I got something wrong.

Original Classic heroes

Appears to be off

I am almost positive Classic 4* Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple were all released pre world wide release

Originally 4*, and 5*, heroes needed 4* ascension items

That is why Empire has farmable, and non farmable, 3* ascension items while Puzzle Combat apparently does not

So SGG had to rebalance green Classic 3* / 4* / 5* heroes, and then Classic 5* heroes when 4* heroes only needed 3* ascension items and the only heroes needing 4* ascension items were now 5* heroes

I cannot find the post, but I remember no player having a rainbow 5* 4.80 team until after Challenge event Guardian v1.0

You’re right - something is definitely off in my list there Multiples of the heroes I have listed here in October were already getting balance updates in August 2017. I’ll dig in further on your links and redo all the classic heroes later tonight.

I’m confident of wave 2, which is predominantly green, as that’s clear in the release notes. Was there no wave 3 then, and everyone I have in wave 3 was in the initial release? [EDIT: Yes, there was a Wave 3, but much smaller. Also, I had wave 2 slightly wrong. Both things fixed now.]

OK, went back through. There is a Wave 3 for Classic heroes, but it only has Domitia, Khagan, and Obakan, released in v1.8. enphero.com lists all the others I had in Season 1 Wave 3 as “REGULAR3” so I assumed they were all in there. However, I found every single one of them referenced in forum posts from June 2017, so I moved them all to Initial Release. I also had extra heroes listed in Wave 2 (Magni and Sartana), and moved them back as well. Thank you, @Gryphonknight !

Early Chaos

I think that is because @Pois1 , and other content creators, we not playing yet, isolated and / or on different social platforms from each other

Forum Beta Beat really brought the game meta researchers together as a cohesive whole

Too busy - In Real Life and game - to look over the whole list, but as a forum user fascinated by game design history, it looks awesome

It seems I have been mistaken all along in which month I pulled Ariel when she was featured. I was sure it was January :rofl: .

I’m pretty sure there was a Springvale event in 2017. I remember the rabbits being around when I started playing that May, and Master Lepus was the strongest hero listed on the old E&P wiki at that time.

Huh. Looks like you’re right. The 2018 announcement of the Spring event includes:

If they’re back & improved, they must have existed prior. Do you know what month in 2017 it was? I can find some references to it as an Easter event, so I’m assuming it was in April (as that’s when Easter occurred in 2017) but that’s a guess.

I updated the list to put the rabbits in April 2017. If someone has a different month, I’ll revisit.

I also verified the counts that @Gryphonknight quoted. That quote was originally posted in June 2017, and matches the count I have for initial release + spring event, so I think the early months are correct now.

I also started capturing beta heroes/costumes, but not including them in the total counts until they’re actually released. Might have missed a few from earlier betas - will go back through the beta beats tonight to check.
