Wu what' the point?

My Alliance fought hard to make me believe in Wu. I called him Miss Wu. I hated him.
Level him up they said “you will see” . I levelled him up to 3/70 but held back the mats.
Then suddenly he delivered the goods, over and over and over.
I joined the Church of Wu. He is permanently on my Titan team, I load him up with mana pots and there he goes. Gave him his 4th Ascension. No regrets. Now trying to convert the latest Wu non-believer in the Alliance.

A few points that I think are often overlooked about Wu Kong:

  1. He is a valuable war asset where you can gamble and try to take out a reach team. That is, if he generates a lot of misses it doesn’t really hurt that badly to lose or lose by a lot. But when he connects and you get a one-shot, it’s a huge win for your alliance.

  2. Expanding on that, there are many skills that are unaffected by Wu’s accuracy debuff. Heals and riposte come readily to mind. I will often slot Wu into a war team with a healer / buffer and a riposter. That mitigates his misses while still buffing my tile damage.

  3. It’s not like you must fire Wu the moment he’s charged. If I reach a point in a war attack where he’s ready, I assess whether or not I’m behind and what I think my win probability is. If I’m materially ahead, the gamble is not worthwhile (though I can save the special and re-evaluate later - that is an ASSET). But if I am behind or have a big move lined up, I may fire him and take my chances.

My wife got Wu Kong at a similar level right now as you Wolf, and for the first time she scored a consistent 30k per hit on the titan to score A grade in my alliance. Titan was 8* and blue.

Of course she also has fully ascended 4* that she paired with the semi leveled Wu. The levels do make a difference for surviving, which makes the misses a little bit less concerning (although they become more of an issue with stronger titans).

Learning to hold specials hot is a key advanced-play technique. Many heroes can have a dramatic effect when held for the right moment, but are only so-so if fired whenever hot.

I did my dissertation on this subject. My topic was; would a person willingly accept negative consequences at the beginning of a task knowing that the potential for a positive outcome were nearly certain? I used E&P and having a choice of lesser heroes or Wu Kong as the foundation of my research.

When I turned in my dissertation to my professor, this was his response… “While I found the paper interesting I’m not sure why you are giving it to me. This is a community college, this is an economics class, I don’t believe you even go to school here, and I’m not a professor, I’m a custodian. I thought the uniform, name tag, and garbage cart would be an obvious clue. Now get the f#@k out before I call the cops!”

I really need to stop taking peyote.

Hello,
I am testing Wu.
On monster run s1, level 5 , set up easy to monitor hit, misses, score combo. Take notes. On titans (level 1, 2 that where we are )more difficult but easily noticeable
Im the first to say when it worked.posted above a couple days ago.
The results are disappointing at the very least, the number of time I’ve set up comdos of 3. 4, 6, tiles only to have 2,4,6, misses. It is hard to miss.
I would not annoy me so much if it only affcted him, but the whole team is going down the rabbit hole.
Just went through 3th asc level this morning, have a monter chest to fill, will test him as i have been doing, maybe after being ascended he will improve, i hope so, will just see.
I test all my heroes the same way, he has been the most annoying to judge, mainly because after reading the forum i had expectations, a few misses, big score, good.
Not happening so far.
That my experience so far, will it change ?
Have fun.

Hello,thank you.
I’m testing to see how valuable he is, so turning his specal on as soon as possible is a option.
I don’t dare take him beyon s1 level 8.
Tha allance i play with can only deal with 2, 3 stars titan, not much of a challenge for Wu ? Right?
Just this morning ascended him to the 3 level.
Went to fill monster chest.
First activation, first 2 sets of tiles, only 1 miss, good, next 2 set 6 misses, then 2, then no misses, oh yeah his special only last 5 turns.
Have fun.

Final post on this subject,
Try to go to war with it, to finish a team with 3 heroes left from my previous battle, halfway through he come alive, 2 opponents heavily damazged left , 2 sets of tiles ready to go why not I’m thinking fire him on, slide the tiles 5 misses, that it he going to be food.

This is very useful! I always panic during a Titan fight. ( we are farming 10*s so my panic is valid)

Hello thanks,
I actually read that post a few days ago.
My problem is that Wu for me is a big liability wherever i use him, the last straw was during a AW.( 5 misses out of 6 tiles, again.)
Olmor, and others do have a lot of very useful advices, and i do try to follow them, I’m still fairly new to the game, and I’m spending a lot of time checking the forum.
After reading all the posts about Wu i was happy to get him .
He did not work for me. That all.
Thank you for reading, and good luck.
Have fun.

@Wolf9, is your Wu at 8/8 special? If not you should get him there and then pass your final judgement.
All I know is that I score the highest on titans consistently, in my alliance, using Wu. Also have convinced other alliance members to level and use him. All of their Titan scores have improved overall. Good luck!!

Thanks,
I’m keeping him for now, for yellow stack only( jackal, li,chao,+ 3*'s, + others to ascent), his hits are ok, will level him up, but, not as a priority,
So far he has been a disappointment.
Thanks again fot all the advices.
Have fun.

Trust us @Wolf9, you will learn to respect the WU

Absolutely. I didn’t learn this until my heroes had greater survivability, since firing a special immediately is better than waiting for a more impactful moment if the hero is likely to be dead by the time that superior moment arrives.

I am a massive fan of Wu, but I only use him for farming when I’ve forgotten to swap him out. Because my regular team is well on top of the difficulty level without him, every tile does the job so Wu actually slows things down. It’s really not what he does best.

On the other hand he’s great for progress levels where you need some extra boost damage, notably the underwater stages in season 2, and obviously any purple bosses. Best thing ever is casting Wilbur’s spirit link + defence down on a fresh pack of mobs, unleashing Wu, and BAM! Delicious explosions all over the screen. That’s when this game is seriously fun. (Other spirit link and defence down options exist, of course.)

As for titans, as everyone will tell you he’s a must for, my Alliance is currently bobbing between 7 and 8* which I think is Wu’s “sweet spot”. I feel undressed without him. For holy titans I use bear banners but it’s just not the same (and there are better uses for battle item slots).

In wars I just bring him along because he gives the enemy something to do with their purple snipers; in most circumstances he’s probably best left un-fired.

But yeah, do the poor monkey a favour and get him to 3.60 at least before you judge him a waste of space. He was the first 4* I maxed and just couldn’t wait to get those monk emblems slapped on him for extra beefiness.
