I’ve got Leo at 3/68, so I’ll have to be making a decision soon. I have 6 darts and about 30 orbs, so I have the materials, but of course I’m afraid of committing the darts if someone better comes along.
I’ve pretty well backed myself down to c2p, and I don’t think there’s another great yellow coming up soon in the HOTM world?
My yellow roster is probably my weakest, and I’ve included the relevant heroes.
For the sake of discussion, assume I have all of the interesting 4*'s either maxed or available.
My maxed or nearly-maxed 5* are:

-Leo (the one in question)

So my question, I don’t see him taking over VIvica’s spot in my defense team, but are you all happy with him for some attacks or in a war? Worth the darts?
731 attack stat with 365% damage and average mana speed.
40% of mana control, I see no reason why Leonidas cannot be in your war team.
He may do even better with higher level of mana troop.
Furthermore, of the classic heroes, other than Joon, they aren’t many other better holy hard hitter in the game. Unless you want to wait for the next Avalon. Who knows Guin may comes around…
I guess it all boils down to how long you are prepared wait for Joon from TC20.
I am in the exact opposite situation
I have had Leo maxed at 4/80 for quite a while now and he is my main offensive yellow.
And I have just this week given my second set of 6 darts to Vivica - who I am now levelling further.
So I now have zero darts. So almost guaranteed to get Joon now aren’t I.
Leo is fine to use - hits reasonably hard and the self-heal is nice. Joon would be better though!
As I say - depends on how long you are prepared to wait. A bird in the hand …
Joon hits harder at 468% and with slightly higher attack stat at 749 and the fast mana is a big + point. Blinding effect can be clear by a cleanser.
A scenario where Sartana is fully charged. Joon hit her with blinding effect and she survived. Rigard cleanse the effect and the rest is history. Leonidas hit and her mana down to 60% thus prevent her from firing, while Leonidas back to full health (75% self healing), that makes Leonidas quite viable as a tank.
Leo was my first 5* and is still my only holy 5. I’ve had him on 3.70 for quite some time, and he’s flanking in my raid def team. I’m doing ok there, but suspecting no thanks to Leo unfortunately. I’ve met him enough now in raids to know that the AI mishandles him the way it does Proteus, but even worse as he only hits one target and the perk of his special is to buy time.
When I face him he tend to always attack the purple I’m bringing, no matter their health or mana. Can be annoying, but most often not catastrophic.
On raid offense I have found myself leaving him out more and more. Not because he’s bad, but because there are better alternatives for mana control and/or hitters. I use him on my war def team together with Elk when there’s field aid though.
Personally I’m holding off on giving him the darts for a while. Atlantis might be generous and give Poseidon, and that rumoured holy HoTM for June sounds interesting.
I think Leo is fantastic as a self sufficient hero. I am the opposite.
I have 2 joons, and a Leo but no Vivica … I use Drake as I managed to get him last year but I’m contemplating making leo useful but it won’t be anytime soon
Leo is good.i like him and i dont like the negativity towards him.He is a solid hero.i had vivica and musashi though so he is still at 3.70.but next darts is for him.and yes we know joon is better obviously but if u dont have joon or mush go Leo
Leo is solid. If they would make him fast Mana, he would be a must-own hero. His stats and effects are fantastic, you just need to learn to live with the average Mana speed. He works really well in yellow stacks and slices down titan Mana like crazy.
Agreed on the defense, in general, but I don’t have a solid 5* healer other than Viv, and the rest of my 5* are pretty big hitters, so swapping one of them out for Leo would probably be a downgrade.
He’s worth it - I had the same debate when I maxed him - what if I get Joon or vivica? Well, it took me over a year to find Joon in TC20 and Viv is still hiding there.
