:thought_balloon: What do you think of Guardian Bat?

This thread is for initial thoughts and discussion on Guardian Bat.

Based on preferences Forum members have expressed, please try to stick mainly to Guardian Bat and not wander off topic too much to other heroes.

Some Popular Questions for Discussion

  • Is Bat worth summoning for?

  • Would you use Bat on Defense? Offense? War? Quests/Events? Titans?

  • Would you give Bat Wizard Emblems? Which Talent Grid path will you choose?

  • What do you think of Bat’s special?

  • What do you think of Bat’s character design?

  • If you Summoned Guardian Bat and would like to post your results, please include some thoughts on why you Summoned Guardian Bat, and whether/how you plan to make use of Bat.*

*NOTE: Summon Results posted without any commentary/feedback at all should be flagged as Off Topic and removed, based on preferences expressed by the Forum community. Please include some comments about what you think of Guardian Bat when posting Summon Results. In addition to opinions about Guardian Bat, you are also encouraged to include how many Summons it took before receiving Guardian Bat (or how many Summons you’ve done without receiving Guardian Bat), so other players are presented with realistic experiences of the rarity of Challenge Event Heroes.

:money_with_wings: Avoiding Overspending & Heartache :broken_heart:
Or: How many Summons are needed to get this Hero?

It’s important to remember that Challenge Event Heroes have EXTREMELY low summoning odds. No amount of summoning will guarantee a Challenge Event Hero.

On average, in a 10-pull, you have a 56% chance of summoning Guardian Bat.

But that statistic can lead our minds astray in exactly how our odds play out as we continue summoning.

Some useful insights:

  • 80 times out of 100, you’ll get Guardian Bat by pull 20
  • 95 times out of 100, you’ll get Guardian Bat by pull 37
  • 99 times out of 100, you’ll get Guardian Bat by pull 56

Putting that in Perspective

  • 20 out of every 100 people won’t get Guardian Bat by the 20th pull

  • If 1 Million players each summoned 20 times, 200,000 of those players wouldn’t get Guardian Bat

  • 5 out of every 100 people won’t get Guardian Bat by the 37th pull

  • If 1 Million players each summoned 37 times, 50,000 of those players wouldn’t get Guardian Bat

More Insights & Reading

I highly recommend reading these two threads for more information and context on summoning odds:

If you’ve read them a million times before, you may consider reading them again before deciding on your budget for summoning. A little time spent deciding on how much money you want to risk on summoning goes a long way to avoiding disappointment, frustration, and regret later.

Drew the bat on my third pull. Was hoping for Jackal or Falcon, but I’ll probably level the bat when I finish Cyprian, since three-stars are cheap to level. Posting here so I can keep tabs on the discussion and see how folks are feeling about this “hero”. (BTW, can we decide if it’s a boy or a girl? @zephyr1 is using “his” in the original post, but @Guvnor is using “her” in the poll.)

I will probably use Guardian Bat in three star tournaments, possibly in defense or as part of a purple stack. I don’t know that this is a good hero for rare tier events, since the special is predicated on other heroes being down already, which isn’t really ideal unless you are just having trouble completing. With Onatel getting my wizard emblems, I doubt I will ever use emblems on this hero. If I did, it would probably be on the attack path, since the bat’s special seems to be made for turning around a lost fight.

I debated what to put, and happened to have copied/pasted from a male hero before this, so I left it.

It should probably just be gender neutral. :man_shrugging:

(updated to avoid pronouns)

Probably. So “it” for a pronoun? I got tired of writing “this hero” and “the bat”.

Sure, “it” seems fine, along with “its” or even “their” for possessives.

I don’t think people will he confused by those, and I’m pretty sure Guardian Bat isn’t going to tell us preferred pronouns. :smirk: :bat:

I have been using they / them / their for Guardian Bat and Guardian Chameleon. Seems the best option to me, unless they themselves state they prefer a different pronoun.

Can anyone think of a good reason to level a second bat?

3* tournament - one in each corner when yellows are not allowed. That is my only thought.

Am I misjudging its power? The special isn’t really suited for challenge events since you don’t want teammates to die…

Only if you really want to dark-stack multiple of them for 3* raids, and bank on the risky additional damage per dead ally.

Bat is a good hit-3 hero for Teltoc (ironically lol) but you only need 1 for that.

IMO if you real want a 2nd hit-3 hero for your dark stacks in raid tournaments, it’s better to go with Chochin – hits 3 for the same damage, whereas Bat hits the nearby enemies for minor damage instead. Not to mention that the mana delay is a better 2nd effect for raids.

The added damage per dead ally is nice but risky to rely on too. I personally would only level 1 myself.

Thanks Dave. I was thinking the same. I have plenty of 3* purple to round out a full team.

Just an empirical question, as it has no value practically, if you raid with empty slots, do they count as dead allies for Guardian Bat, making it have extra attack from the onset?

No, the game won’t count empty slots towards the boosted Special Skill damage.

So, in really loose and lazy terms… Basically a baby G.Owl but more likely to be ready to fire?

I managed to pull three of them with a 10 pull. Was hoping for one of the four or five stars, but it wasn’t to be today. Interested to hear thoughts about whether to keep one or both of the duplicates.

Don’t quote me on this but in theory you should keep all, up to 5 when possible. When you think about it, a team of 5 Guardian Bats is the only team that will get exponentially stronger as allies die.

At least in theory.

I was thinking the same thing, which is why I have been reluctant to feed them right away.

I am considering feeding my dupes away. I would rather have tyrum, Balthazar, chochin and Gil ra as my 4 other heroes.

If I didn’t have 8 fully leveled 3* purple, I might think differently.

I only have two fully levelled dark three stars. I have a couple of others on the list to level up, but they are not high priority. I think I may level one and keep the others around for a while, but not potentially waste resources on them. See how it goes and then level the others for wars if it turns out the bat is going to be a staple of my team. It may be only three stars but as a relatively new player my four and five stars are in short supply.
