Clarissa or Grimble?

Hey gang I finally got that last Tabbard today. With both Grimble and Clarissa at 3/70.
Who gets it? I’m thinking of the Christmas and all the other mininions in the game now for goat boy but a very fast 5* is damn Purdy! (I love my Grazzy.)
Thoughts?

I’d be hard pressed to recommend Grimble. That being said, if you seeing an overabundance of minions, think about it. But I tend to think Clarrisa will be more useful in most situations.

Clarissa imo, Grimbles attack stat is an embarrassment. Not to mention if you mono and use your C tibby , good chance you’ll be removing those minions the old fashioned way already.
Even with all of the upcoming heros with element link minions I dont think Grimble would take presedenace over Clarissa.

Short term, Grimble since he will aid much in eliminating those pesky minions especially from minion summoners.

Long term, Clarissa since Telly will be having his counter HOTM in December and many players will look for other heroes to serve as tank which will result to Telly be stripped of emblems which may be placed to Clarissa. The minions summoned by MN and Santa were adding a degree of difficulty for the past 2 years Santa’s Challenge has been around, but many players have overcome the hurdle even without Grimble around. This December may not be different, unless a new hero boss is released adding a new difficulty to the seasonal event

IMO, you will want to look at Grimble. Right now, Heimdale is using your Paladin emblems and I can only assume you are using him as your tank on defense. Grimble would only be competing with MN for emblems and you have not used any on her. While Grimble may not be the best purlple 5* out there, he has been very useful in this age of minnons! I think you will find a lot of uses for him in PvP, events, tournaments and wars. Clarissa is a top-notch hero, put 4/80 is the best you will be able to take her for some time to come. Since this is what you have at the moment, you can only play the hand that is dealt.

You’ll laugh every time when you’re using Goaties special.

Do you want to have fun or a 2nd rate purple Gravemaker?

:innocent:

I have grimble highly emblemed (16) and his attack caps out at 690. Not great, but combined with C tibs and C Rigard he does pack a good punch. Also when he fires against Telly he charges up the others in the mono team (namely Proteus and C Quintus) so in this age of Telly he definitely has a use…

I notice that as well! Nice little side benefit! I have been play around with different lineups to use against Telly teams especially this week with the current tournament allowing no reds. Grimble will get a chance some time this week!

Wit Grimble, does he remove the Minions and THEN cause damage to the heroes? It makes no sense to cause damage (which would be absorbed by minions) and THEN remove the minions, right? Anyone know what % increase per minion removal he gives for mana to allies?

I am actually considering upgrading him to be fair. I love C Rigard, C Tibs and Clarissa, add this guy and it migh tbe a really wonderful 4-1 Purple team (with Telly as my own Tank still)

I have benched Grimble at 3/70 for long time and now putting emblems to Rigard and C-Tibs.
Since I don’t have Clarrisa, I think, it about time that I should honor him with 6 Tabbards in the inventory.

I have had Grimble maxed for awhile now. He was my 1st purple 5* before finally pulling Domitia and Clarissa. He has served me well in many situations and has really come in handy with all the minnon generating 5* heros that have come out in the past few months. Give him a try. You will not be disappointed.

Kills the minions first.
With Telly he kills 4 minions and fully charges Quintus who is about 75%-80%-ish charged when the special goes off

My grimble also 4.80. Anyway hardly used him nowadays as my purple mono is Rigard, Ursena, Sartana, Seshat and Proteus.

Against Telly, bring red is better…

Grimble makes sense only if your purple stack consists of many slow purple heroes - think Alfrike or Quintus or Boss Wolf or Kunchen, maybe Marie-Therese…

Reason is quite silly.

Grimble only adds mana IF he destroys a minion. That is, when the minion summoner has already casted and nobody killed a minion yet. That leads to practical issues:

  • in order to charge average Grimble, you needed to have purple tiles; if you had purple tiles, that means quite likely the minion summoner is already dead (we speaking Telluria here mostly of course)
  • if you had no tiles to charge before the summoner cast - you need to charge afterwards. Guess what happens… minions are being destroyed as you throw tiles at them, and you gain nothing from firing Grimble
  • of course if you had no tiles to charge afterwards, you are most likely losing anyways
  • now if you somehow landed a sweetspot when you charged BUT it was not enough to kill the summoner, it’s pretty likely your other fast & average heroes charged as well at the same time. Now you face a dilemma - if you fire Grimble first, the heroes which are at their max mana, won’t gain anything aka he kills the minions but brings you no mana as they are maxed anyways; if you fire your other heroes first so they can benefit from the mana gain afterwards, they are destroying minions with their damage - so then when you fire Grimble, it’s just for the damage, because there are no minions to kill (or only 1 or 2 left) and the mana gain is none or minimal

Now it may sound like some obscure situation but in fact it happens to me every single time I take Grimble - Panther, Hel, Clarissa, Jabberwock, Killhare… all charge at more or less the same time as Grimble (well, Clarissa maybe a bit faster so she can actually benefit to fire a second time). If you build your stack around slow purple heroes, then Grimble may make them fire the same turn he charges (not tested, but I think it should work)

The only other way I see to find Grimble somewhat useful is to bring him as off color support to a different stack, or in Rainbow team. Rainbow I skip as imho these are sadly off the meta completely. For offcolor support, I strongly recommend a healer with a cleanse instead, because bringing Grimble for that role is pretty much putting yourself at disadvantage (you’d need to rely on him charging enough mana to bring healer to max and reverse all the beating you already took while not being able to charge your main color… pretty much a gamble if you ask me, maybe fun if you pull it through, but not very reliable).

So yea, to sum up, pretty much Clarissa. I went with her leaving numerous other purples at 3.70 (Alfrike, Grimble, Domitia, Quintus, Marie-Therese) and have no regrets, even gave her some emblems instead of bringing Telly to +20.

Oooo, another Jaws :shark: :kissing_heart:

You dont have anything that seems like Clarissa in your roster . DOT heroes are so useful, Clarissa is very fast and do a considerable damage plus she is kinda of sturdy.
On the other hand Grimble needs lots of emblems to start to see a ‘punch’ and his ability is so niche than cant compite , overall, with Clarissa.
But this is only my opinion , good luck with your choice!
