Worth leveling Gobbler for Christmas event?

I pulled Gobbler from Atlantis a while back, trying to decide what to do with him since his special is pretty niche. I didn’t start playing until this spring so I didn’t see Santa’s Challenge last year - would it be worth taking Gobbler to 3.60 to deal with the minions - or not needed? I’m mid-game (completed S1 and S2N) with 3 rainbow teams of 4*s.

I wasn’t able to complete advanced myself last year, got to stage 19 and gave up. But I only had 7 maxed 4* heroes (Gobbler being one of them) so my color-stacking options were low for the later stages. This year I don’t expect to have that issue, and plan to try Gobbler on a green stack for the later advanced stages.

With that said: Gobbler maxed was annoying to keep alive as he took a lot of damage even from slash attacks (around 200 damage points per attack at stage 16 advanced). His defense is bad to begin with when he’s maxed, I can’t imagine him being viable at 3.60 as he’ll likely die in 3 hits or less for the later stages. And that’s where bypassing minions actually matters since they have a decent amount of HP.

Personally I’d either take him all the way, or use items + other AoE attacks to deal with minions instead. Dragon attacks, bombs, Colen, Azlar, etc. you can use them to clean up minions and then continue doing damage.

Thanks! Will leave Gobbler to rot on the bench.

He’s quite good for farming 8-7 - strong against all the blue monsters and can clear the stage in one special.

Currently, this is his only use imho.

I got excited about him and levelled him all the way. Only then found out his defense is only 3 star level… Would avoid. Agwe and alike are better.

I succeeded to finish last year on advanced mode, thanks to Little John, not Gobbler. Imo, Gobbler and Agwe shouldn’t exist in this game, like they are now and their creation is a big mistake. I don’t know what the devs have smoked when they created such awful heroes, but I want some; should be heavy stuff.

Now, let’s think about this event last stages. We have green and red heroes. Therefore, the player should focus on red heroes bringing along. Not more than one blue (good for red, but awful for green). Not more than one green (same reason). And this should be LJ. It’s more important to not let the bosses fire too often, than letting them and dealing with their minions. And trust me, choosing the wrong team will only result in quick death and not even 5 time stop and 5 time freeze, won’t save you at the last stage on advanced mode. And certainly not a 3/60 epic hero.

Just look in December for a thread or open one with this subject. Post your heroes and you’ll get help. What heroes and items to bring. I will probably post a video after the event will start, with the last level on advanced mode finished with classic 4* heroes. Bold, Grimm, Scarlett and LJ are 4 of 5 heroes I used last year and they provide everything: attack boost, lowering defense, lowering attack and lowering mana speed generation.

Bottom line, to bring Gobbler it is a big mistake, even if is maxed. And maximising him, it’s even a bigger mistake.

I agree that leveling Gobbler overall is just a big mistake. Literally any other green hero is better to level than him. Even Skittleskull is better tbh.

I leveled mine out of pure necessity; he was my first S2 4* hero, and my only other green 4* hero at the time (L.J. was my first). He comes out to play just once in a while, mainly just in healing aid war attacks that tuck away Delilah in the wing.

Thanks all for the comments - no Gobbler!

Yeah, I had been using him only for farming, but then I got Jack O’Hare and he’s been warming the bench ever since…

Honestly, the vampires do much better during the Christmas event than the minion eaters.

Good to know, I have Gobbler at 3.60 and was going to ascend him instead of Hansel. I have 2 Captain of Diamonds, one fully levelled and one at 3.60, would they be better for minions?

COD is definitely much better than Gobbler. Higher att/def stat and fast mana. The only issue was he is blue and Xmas event are in favour of green/red. One COD is fine thou.
Btw, Gobbler’s defence is so weak, repeated attack from the minions party probably kill him in no time…jk.

I had Gobbler, fed him away. I don’t necessarily regret it, but he can be useful. Same with Agwe. Odd hero and I too would love whatever the devs were smoking when they created them, but Agwe is my second Cleric class hero to be maxed. I have three stars below Boril and Agwe.

But yes, Gobbler is good for niche levels/events. I would level up other heroes before I brought him up to final.

Yup, that’s exactly where I’m at.

I’ve got ~40 maxed 4* heroes including 2 of some and even 3 of a few.

Anyhow I’m running out of better options to feed so I am currently doing skittles, and I decided to keep the last gobbler I pulled and I might get desperate enough to level him up someday along with agwe, who I’m now keeping one of too.

LOL, wow you must like the CoD?!! You liked him enough after the first to move the SECOND one to 3/60?? Just curious and no offense, but that’s crazy!! Shelving Hansel for Gobbler is nuts too…to the point where I wonder if you’re joking. Seriously.

Don’t even bother, worst defense in the game. He won’t survive one hit let alone live to eat a minion.

Hansel is one of the best Four stars out there and one I’ll emblem to 18, got him at 13 now and he’s awesome, his sister Gretel is great too, have her at 5 emblems.

I haven’t really used them, I was just thinking the special attack on minions would be worth it for the Christmas event.

I’m trying to fully level up at least three 4 stars of each color and already had 2 greens and had Gretel fully levelled so that’s why I was going to leave Hansel at 3.60

Do not forget, Proteus is the best 4* hero in the game for missions. If you have him, level him asap. Letting MN starting the cycle of firing, is suicidal. Besides, any mana control hero is most valuable for this event. You cannot rely on the puzzle. For those don’t remember this event configuration, the puzzle has frozen tiles. Bye bye combos…
