I’ve been on TC13 for about 6 weeks. On SH16 right now on my way to 20 but it’ll be a minute yet I imagine so just hoping on TC13 for now. It did give me Boldtusk, Gormek, Kashhrek so I may have used up my good luck there but

I do have the orbs… so, to ascend or not to ascend in my situation (which you can read above in original post). Thoughts?
I would not use Orbs on Hu Tao.

I would ascend him! Just so you have a FULL team of 4 stars. You’ll be much more competitive in the special events, where you can earn more shields/knives/tools/orbs/coats. You might even earn 4 more shields by the team you get another green 4*…you never know.

Unless Hu Tao gets some buffs in the next patches, he will stay at 3/60 for me.

I’d probably use orbs on Hu Tao ahead of the Guardian Owl… but unless I had ascended literally every other yellow 4* and 5*, I don’t see the point really, as the heroes currently stand.
That being said, I also don’t see any reason not to take Hu up to 3/60 if there are no other yellow heroes to use feeders on. He’s my ‘when I have nothing better in yellow to level’ project, up to 1/23 when I got Guinevere in the last Avalon event.

Update: pulled Caedmon today, 3 weeks later. So waiting definitely paid off, though I was getting close to using the shields on Kashhrek since raids against me really multiplied a ton after the update a few days ago. Pretty lucky but I’ll gladly take it and run

I think this is an easy choice. wu kong and wilbur. They are both fantastic 4s (haha)
Both are amazing for titans, and you would get so much, much, much more value from a maxed wilbur than a 3-70 santa.
But maybe someone else has a different opinion? let’s see!

I need similar advice. Main goal is rainbow defense ase team. Which should I use ascension items on? Boldtusk from 3 to 4 maxed or Ares to 3 70? I run as my main team right now in order… sabina maxed. grimm maxed. kashrek maxed. Elana 3 70. Li 3 60. I was thinking do Ares because he is such a nasty tank then I can use my Hansel soon to be maxed as my new green. But then I’ll be running 2 red and be easier target for blue heavy raid team. Thank you for advice.
Ares is very powerful but if you don’t have a lot of red depth yet, Boldtusk is probably the better option for leveling first but not a great choice for that defense as you have two healers already. Do you have another purple you can use? For Li Xiu, do you have 4 orbs? Any other yellows to work with?
Thank you for quick response. I have a lot of heroes. I got Seshat recently. Yellow is my weak point. I have hu, Chao, and bane among other 3s. But nothing powerful. Yellow is my next focus. I have scarlett, gormek, several other reds. I’ve been leveling heroes with As in anchors here grades. I’ve just recently started raiding with stacks. Like I’ll pull li and put in bold for blue teams. Or pull elena and li and out in lianna and hansel for green. Or pull elena and li and out in Kirk and Triton to fight red etc. I try to focus on one need at a time. So you think boldtusk maxed will be more useful than 3 70 ares?
Nice heroes. I have Ares but I was able to take him all the way to 4-80 and didn’t get a chance to play with him much at 3-70. A 4* maxed is typically better than a 5* at 3-70 and 5* heroes need a lot of resources so most people will tell you to build your bench and then work on your 5 stars. If you don’t have a lot of depth (3-4 max 4* from each color) and a rainbow defense is your goal, then focus on Boldtusk first for fire. He’s a stud and you can use him for a long time.

There’s 4* and 4*. Kashhrek is one of the best tanks when you’re in that gold platinum zone. Then it almost become obsolete. Boldtusk, on the other hand, you’re gonna use it even when your main team is full of 5*. Definitely one of the best 4* out there, sturdy, heals, boosts attack, add the revive on top of that from his fighter class and will become annoying af with some emblems, almost a 5*. Go with him. You’ll have all the time in the world to ascend Ares after.

Thank you guys for the help! I feel like because I don’t use bt now, my mind is stuck on replacing and or upgrading this one lineup whereas long term boldtusk will be invaluable. Gotta think long term.
Boldtusk, because he can used both level in event challange epic and legendary for long term.
Boldtusk, because faster to level and cheaper mats.
Boldtusk, because boost att all allies.
Boldtusk, because BT is Fighter and Ares is Paladin (so both not the same).
Ares, after Boldtusk maxed and emblem +4 IMO.
