Scored Ariel today and really happy being I didnt have a 5* dedicated healer (or 5* Cleric worth levelling). This is my current defence team which currently works well
Have thought about alot of ideas n perhaps this is an option

Ariel is amazingly frustrating on defense for an attacking team. I’d go with the second option. Nice heroes!
Or swap Drake and Kage’s Positioning

Ariel is EXCELLENT on defense.

She impacts board state much less than several other blue alternatives. I’ve never really raided an Ariel and feared her special going off. Can’t say the same for a host of blue options (e.g. Alasie, Magni, Alice, Isarnia, Lepus). I’ve also seen better performance personally on defense when I use Alice instead of Ariel. Now that isn’t a huge sample size, so others may have different impressions.
Offense is a different story and she is peerless there. Glad I picked up a second one this Atlantis.
I agree with this, Ariel is one of the best offensive heroes - arguably the best offensive healer.
I can see that. I think of her as a healer myself, where she has no match.
Sure - but a healer isn’t fundamentally necessary on defense. To me it’s all about capitalizing on marginal boards for an attacker. This is based on my experience as an attacker of defenses, as we truly don’t know how big of an impact a given hero is making for our own defense.

I’d try Zim-Zel-Drake-Ariel-Kage
You want your def to get Zim’s attack buff so she should be on the left side. Zel is among the top flanks so she should be next to tank. Ariel on flank to get her mana buff up asap and Kage will still go off enough in the wing position.
On heal wars you can try switching Kage and Ariel, healers as the last hero standing can be pretty annoying.

So far no one has said keep Aegir in the defence team haha he has massively improved since the rebalance and has been solid but of course want to have the best setup possible with what I have.
I would probably keep him. Try both out for a few days and see what happens
I like @Ashera line up the best. I would try that one out for 3 days and see if it’s better then your current.
Both seem great. I’d lean towards your current but let us know how it goes.
