I disagree. Vacuum conditions can always occur in normal raids and wars. If the last remaining hero on the offensive side of a raid or war is a niche hero, you cannot win.
A dictionary or thesaurus would disagree with you. Nowhere will you find “powerful” as a synonym for “useful”. If you will only call a hero useful if it’s powerful in all aspects of the game then very few heroes would qualify. And that’s how it should be.
(No, I haven’t got Malicna yet, and if/when I do she’ll probably have to wait in the queue for a while.)

A niche hero is useful if you can make use of it. That doesn’t mean it has to be useful all the time (then it wouldn’t be niche) nor does it mean it needs to be an essential hero to be useful. Too many here seem to equate useful with essential or required.
A useless hero is one that you cannot find any use for. But what is useless to you depends on the heroes you already have and there are many (such as myself) who will find this hero useful.
Synonyms for useful include usable, utilitarian, serviceable, or functional.

It is far more helpful to talk about a heroes pros and cons, including comparisons to other heroes, especially more common heroes. No one needs to know if one person finds a hero of no use to them or their defense or their mono team. The forum is usually a place for people to learn about a hero and their synergies to know if they want to get that hero and if it would work for them. Calling Malicna useless is a useless post and does not add anything to the discussion.
Being light on purple, my worst color, I’d rather hear from people that have her at 4/80 (3/70 opinions are not usually as valuable on a damage dealing hero) or with emblems. Those that compare her damage output to other hit 3 for example are helpful. Also unlike other random heroes, all her forms are useful unlike others that 1/3 of the time backfire or hurt themselves.
Ranting on a hero is not so helpful to the forum.

I took the plunge and decided to ascend Malicna today.
Yes, I have Domitia, Quintus, Grimble, Zulag all at 3/70 too but I just have a like for Malicna.
Plus I have a few cleric emblems I can give her (only node 3).
Now, slowly upgrading her with 1* lol.
Roll on Atlantis to help me speed her up haha

This exactly. I am F2P and am certain she would be great to speed up my Domitia and Quintus. Her hit would be welcome as well.
SG has gotten away from 1-hero-army type heroes since the Telly issues, which I see as a plus. HotM’s are too attainable to regularly have heroes of that power level. She fits this mold well of having a use, but not being overpowered. A lot of value from top players? Probably not. Some use from the other 95% of the player field? Absolutely.
For example, my reds lacked so I chased Reuben hard (by my standards). He isn’t top notch, but can fill a void and find use. I didn’t get him, but that’s a whole different story … I won’t chase Malicna as the timing isn’t right to burn my summons and I don’t NEED more purple at the moment, but if she popped out the few times when I do summon this month I would be thrilled.

I think her passives and stats kick-up the value a bit.
I see the mono crowd being happy with her. While those who already have a great supporting cast and finishers might make some adjustments to that 6th war flag.
Maybe… her RnG is different than Rump’s: he can stack-it-up with value on all 3 variables.
While she stands a strong chance of lightening the load…

I just tested Malicna with Alfrike. Malicna give mana equal to 3 tiles, so with 2x mana 23 Alfrike with 9 tiles is possible, and it will very beneficial to 3/2 or mono attack.

Not first in line to be leveled (Mr Kageburado is), but if nothing superior shows up, she is next. I like to gambe.

If one were to run 4/1 with 4 dark and a mana booster like Mica, would the element link stack ? If they do Alfrike could be pretty quick

It seems like a lot of the recent HOTMs get poor reviews before and as they’re first released, but as players level up and use, people comes around on them.
I think she will end up being useful. I plan on doing a bunch of pulls for S4 and maybe Valhalla. If I am lucky enough to get her, I would fully ascend as I feel she’ll be better than my other options (Domita, Zulag, dupe Sartana, dupe Clarissa).

Again we see many wrong opinion about hero that not even test by those who say it.
I think she is one of the good hero in game she has 33% chance for huge damage almost max skill in game and after first fire she practically charge with 9 tile because of element link and with troop can increase to state of fast hero so she can have another shot and 66% to max damage.
I do not mean she is best but she is not worst for 100 % sure. I ascend many hero that got some wrong comments and saw they are so good. Here mostly there are just bunch of players that j think they are playing war or fight games and need to fire soon and win. No it is empire and PUZZLE so slower hero has more skills than faster hero and if use them right they are undeafetable .
First days I made big mistake because I act base on most comments here so stop it and try to say something you are sure about.

She will he faster than fast mana I test her.
Many comments are just useless wrong info, her small amount is around 0.7 tile or more and last 4 turns. So after first fire she is hero that need 7.2 tile and I say this without troop stack or mana boost because I do not know they effect on small amount of mana or not. She is a good one I hope people keep thinking bad about her and not pull her

I have her but haven’t had time w/ her skills tested yet. However, as stated in earlier post SHE appears to have some promise. imo
I won’t feed her off.
Eventually will beef her up as she is tested.
Good to see someone on the thread who did test her and… has some positive input.
Can you share a video of her in action with emblems? I’m curious.
She seems like she can send trouble into opponents’ teams. I still hope for E&P to buff her.
Like to see them improve the 2nd and 3rd set of Specials.

I think many misses the point when valuating a hero.
Every hero could be useful. Mind me, i still use my +20 Skittleskull for attack stat, but i will not go as far as suggesting others to do the same.

I am not one to want to sit around and wait for “what could be” instead I would rather use what I have now, to deepen my roster.

Only zulag, Victor, Toth, Quintus, obakan, boss Wolf, Marie, mok ar after her.
The rest is something I’m not sure about, but that means for me she would be in the last third.
