If you think Malicna is well-balanced, too strong, or too weak — why?
Are there specific, concrete suggestions you’d make to the game designers to alter Malicna? Or are there specific reasons you think they should remain unchanged?
Purpose of this thread:
To provide an aggregate place for the topic here on the forum; thus preventing there being a million threads popping up. And to provide an actual set of impartial votes rather than a #ideas-feature-requests which has no real voting.
In short, to neaten the forum and to give players and outlet for their thoughts on her balance without bogging down the rest of the forum or the other Uraeus thread.
At the state of the art Malicna is laughable.
I mean. Seriously.
T’was nice to see what the daughter of Harry Potter and Maleficent would look like, though.

I don’t know who is responsible for the balancing, but she is a disappointed hero. Alternativ 1 54% def down 16 attack down and -10% mana generation, Alternativ 2 -54% attack 16% def down - 10 mana generation Alternativ-24% mana generation 16% def down and 16% attack down! This is the right balancing.
Why does not her element link stack? I fire Bryn and Malicna to check the small amount of mana increase, it did not. Why really? That mana generation effect of battle item even. Troop does not effect on that small amount of mana too.
The biggest problem I have is where would I use her and why? Who would she actually replace? Generically she doesn’t replace anyone, so what is her niche? Where does she excel?
One thought… with grimble in an off color mana gen team vs a freya or bera tank.
Get 9/10 tiles, malicma fires then grimble with 7 or 8 minions on the field… charges 8 tiles worth for both… after 3/4 turns they are both fully charged even if there are no tiles on the board. On color likely to all go off and then halfway charged after 2nd grinble special
If they are going to leave option 2 & 3 then change the down defense and down attack to 54%. Then if you get alt 1 – you get both plus down mana. If you get option 2, you get down defense 54%. Or alt 3, you get down attack 54%. At least that change gives you something for an average 2/3 of the power-ups. I would also consider making her fast or adding some other buff to alt 2 & 3 (like up mana for all allies).
I like the alternatives but the 2nd and 3rd need a little extra. Number one is the risk for the meat and potato if you will. But 2 and 3 need maybe the mana reduction of 10% or a boost of the atk/def down to maybe 20%
I have been playing with her at 3/42 through to 3/64. So far, I actually really like her. My thoughts:
The option 1 is very powerful, no need to really talk this one up. I have been getting this at least a third of the time if not a little bit more
Option 2 attack debuff - 2 things to note here. First of all, any attack debuff, from 1% to 100%, also by default means a dispelling of an attack buff for the enemy. I think most people are missing this nuance. Secondly, -16% doesn’t sound like a lot but if you have a hero mildly hurt by a 1-3 slash attacks that is then hit by a strong snipe - -16% attack is actually probably just enough to keep that hero alive vs that hero dying. I’ve seen this a few times already
Option 3 defense debuff - as above, this is also by default a defense buff dispell. Personally I am running Tiburkiss with her so if she gets option 2 or 3 I use Tiburkiss and if option 1 then I assess whether to hold his special or if I will be able to kill off anyone with his hit enhanced by her defense debuff. It is proving an effective combo with a little bit of strategising behind it
Elemental link - The mana gain is not too big, but it is significant in some situations. The one that has the most impact so far is when killing off a Freya or Bera tank and the mana cut is invoked - it takes 2 turns I think to undo that mana cut, which can turn the tide of a battle if tiles have dried up. As far as I know this is the only special which can actually generate mana rather than increase mana regeneration rate (correct me if I am wrong in this?) apart from mana stealers. This makes her the best counter to this mana cutting aspect (and would also work well against Neith, Jade, etc) in those situations where there are no more matches on the board
Synergies - I am running her with Grimble and I think these two have a great a great synergy potential where he (being 9 tiles) brings her up to 9 tiles too and then she can potentially top him and herself and any other purples up to full again if his special kills off 7 or 8 minions
Damage - A bit higher than expected particularly when at such a low level. Combine with attack buff/defense debuff and it becomes very significant
Here are a few videos from alliance fights - Grimble is the lead obviously but at 3/42 Malinca is adding value above and beyond her level. I strongly recommend anyone who has drawn her not to dismiss her because of her “weak alternative options” but to give her a try at 3/70 and decide then.
I feel she is ok as is…useable at least. I would have preferred a less powerful alt 1 and more useful alt 2 and 3 though. I’d more prefer a “balance” of her specials than a buff for her…but I consider the balance a buff, LOL!
I’m using her on an alt account and tbh I find her painfully annoying. It’s pointless to have those alternatives on a hero of the month. The alternatives need to go, rng heroes like dansaburo etc are simply not good enough. There are still plenty of gamebreaking hotms around and then this one comes along and is two thirds useless? For a legendary hero it makes little to no sense. If the alternative 1 hit everyone and was more devastating then I’d understand the rng element a little bit but it would pay off to leave it as a cleave and get rid of the alternatives. Or at least make the alternatives something different that’s viable e.g buffs to the party to at least help people with support hero issues that are lacking.
This hotm would’ve been more appropriate as April 1st pull only for April fools Day.
