I have been playing the game for little over a month and have a decent assortment of level 4 heroes. Currently I have the mats to ascend 1 of each color to 4th level. I am working on Wu, Hansel, Sabina and Grimm. What I need advice on is which red hero to I spend the mats on. I currently have Scarlett at 2-50, Wilbur at 3-30, And Boldtusk at a lower level. Which one should I spend the mats on?
I’d go wilbur. He is amazing. Only drawback is he sometimes helps the opponent when he’s on defense.
If you need a red for defensive, Scarlett is the way to go.
But I still lean toward wilbur… More useful to more aspects imo.

You need more heroes with higher punching power. Grimm can already do the defense debuff.
Your lineup would rely more on tile damage rather than specials but its ok.
Wu gives you a higher fighting chance against stronger opponents and higher titan damage.

I’d recommend Boldtusk. He’s sturdy enough to tank for your defense team at this point, and his combination of an attack buff with healing is incredibly powerful.
Wilbur is an amazing hero for boosting your damage against titans, and can be a very strong player on offense. But he really isn’t a great defense hero.
Boldtusk is great for offense, defense, and titans. That versatility will serve you well as you grow your team.

Since your Wilbur is already 3.30 go for him first. If all heroes we’re that tier, I would go BT. They are both awesome heroes for raids, titans and wars.
Boldtusk and Wilbur are both some of the best red 4*. Can’t go wrong with either. I consider both to be a tier above Scarlett. Both are also better on defense than Scarlett IMO.
Boldtusk was my first ascended red 4*. He’s still my defense tank. Wilbur is ascended to tier 4. He’s almost maxed. Wilbur is super powerful on offence and vs map levels and bosses.
Boldtusk I take to almost everything. Wilbur is powerful but more niche in a way. Boldtusk one of the top 3 4* healers IMO (along with Kiril and Rigard). You can take Boldtusk to titans, on offence, he can tank or flank on defense, take him to map levels, challenge events, etc. Wilbur is amazing vs titans, really strong on offence and vs map levels, challenge events, rare quests, etc and okay on defense.
Dunno if that helps or not, not sure you can go wrong with that decision. Those two may be the two most versatile and powerful red 4*s in the game.

Normally would agree with @AirHawk @Garanwyn in going with BT, but you have Sabina as a healer for now.
Get Wilbur maxed to work with Wu for serious titan hits to get you better odds for mats. Next red after is BT.
Grimm and Hansel give you good attackers with Def down and mana control. On offense put Scarlett 3/60 in the corner to shield her.

Thanks for the advice. Proteus and Rigard are the only *4s from the base and Atlantis that I do not have.
In my honest opinion I would max Boldtusk first he is about the best 4* red you can pull and make a good tank. Even better when you pair him with Kiril. For attack I would go with Wilbur especially if you want raid attack heroes
