First, some context. I’m F2P and have been playing since September 2018. I’ve got a reasonably solid rainbow team and am now trying to build my bench for alliance wars, class quests, and color stacking. I should also have my first TC20 operational in a couple of weeks. My main team is:
Grimm 4^70
Sabina 4^70+2
Danzaburo 4^70+3
Gormek 4^70+3
Melendor 4^70+3
My second team is:
Tiburtus 4^70+3
Onatel 3^41 (currently leveling)
Kelile 3^60
Sonya 2^28 (currently leveling)
Skittleskill 2^32 (currently leveling)
Besides these I have the following 4*s at 1^1: two Danzaburos, two Tiburtuses, a Sabina, and an Ameonna. As you can see, I’ve had some bad luck drawing dups.
Anyway, I’m wondering which purple hero I should level next. I know from having used them that both Tiburtus and Sabina are better heroes generally. I just pulled Ameonna in February’s Atlantis summon period. The message boards don’t seem to have a lot of love for her, but I’m wondering if I should at least take her to 3^60 for variety’s sake.
The one place Ameonna does seem to have some utility is stacking against yellow titans, which I could do alongside my maxed Tiburtus. (My alliance is small, we only manage to fight weak titans where healing isn’t an issue.) She could also help in the sorcerer class quests, as my other sorcerers consist of both Sabinas, Skittleskull, a 3^50 Graymane, and a 2^35 Jahangir (currently leveling, sadly, because he’s my best red option at the moment). Some folks also like Ameonna on mop up duty in alliance wars, since she can quickly ghost and take four free shots at the enemy with no chance of dying. Maybe it would help to group her with one or more of my Danzaburos and my 3^50 Namahage to take advantage of the family bonus?
Am I just looking for an excuse to level a bad hero? Should I go for Tiburtus or Sabina instead? Or should I hang onto as many purple feeder heroes as possible and hope someone like Rigard falls out of my TC20 soon?
Personally I would level her rather than a dupe. But you seem to have a good grasp of what you are looking at, so I would say you should make up your own mind based on how you like to play
I have a dupe Boldtusk and Rigard sitting idle while I level Amoena and Agwe.
That’s not really logical in terms of their accepted rating, but I connect with each imaginary character as an individual and having duplicates doesn’t fit my own internal narrative.
So do you play for mathematical supremacy or because having a floaty ghost girl sounds cool to you?
I see that as good luck with Tibs and Sabina. Personally, I would level one of them for AW. If you mainly want something for Titans then Ameonna is a good choice.
Mostly the former, as I’m a math/computer nerd at heart, but I also want to like each new hero I get, especially the Atlantis ones, since they are rarer. (I about had a conniption when I pulled Onatel in January. Never thought I’d get someone that rare as F2P, and if I did, I figured it’d be my crappy luck to pull Mok-Arr!) The nerd in me wants to maximize resources, though, especially as F2P, when the rare stuff is even more valuable. I can’t see ever feeding trap tools to Ameonna for a final ascension, but yeah, the thought of the floaty ghost winning an alliance war for me does have some appeal!
Given the ways the game is changing, I would say that diversity is a logical choice. I am struggling with trap tools due to working on several purples, but Ammonia is in the queue, but not near the front
Yeah, you’re probably right about that. Three Danzaburos, though? Not so much. When I drew him for the first time on Thanksgiving, I was like, “This is the hero that’s gonna replace Bane in my main team?” Onatel to the rescue, eventually. Just hope it doesn’t take forever to collect the darts.
Class quests and the incoming new raid thingy will have restrictions on what heroes can be used. I also think that floaty ghost girl is a good niche hero. It is her lack of versatility that has bumped her down the queue for me.
A little surprised to hear that, based on most people’s opinion of her, but I’ll keep that in mind. That tile damage has to be a consideration (says the guy who groans at the tile damage from a maxed Gormek!) Fortunately or unfortunately, I only have 1 trap tools right now, so I have some time to make the decision (and hopefully pull Rigard or Sartana from my soon-to-be TC20 in the meantime!)
Thank you. I really enjoy this game, and I love that you can field a competitive team without having to pay. Some of that is luck, I know - my alliance mate has been playing a couple of weeks less and only has four 4s (Kelile, Cyprian, Wu Kong, and Boril, who he just pulled this weekend) and no 5s, but another alliance mate has only been playing a few days less than me and has three 5*s already (Sartana, Elkanan, and as of this morning, Frida).
These message boards are a great help. Been reading for a while and finally found something worth posting about. Thanks to the boards, I decided to hold off on ascending Kelile and saved my blades for Gormek, who I’d just pulled before my last blade. (Didn’t have Tiburtus or Grimm at the time.) Great decision, I think, but one I would have botched without having read these boards.
