So I’ve run into a dilemma with regard to the tank I run for raid defense. I currently have a Kashhrek+16 as my tank. I pulled a Justice from my TC20 a couple days ago and I can’t decide whether to level Justice up to take over that spot.
I currently have a Joon at 3-70, another Joon at 2-60, a Rocc at 2-60, and a Malosi at 3-70. I think Joon and Malosi both are better heroes, in general, than Justice. I have enough materials to ascend one yellow 5 star. I’ve been saving them just in case I pull White Rabbit in Wonderland next month.
My defense currently keeps me around 2100-2350 trophies on average. I really need a tank that will keep me in the diamond league somewhat consistently. Do I gain enough benefit going from Kashhrek+16 to Justice that it’s worth the materials?

Justice is, in my opinion, an objectively better tank than Kasshrek. She does some damage and inflicts a rather nasty status ailment with her special. Kasshrek just stalls until your other heroes can fire. If you have the hitters around him, he’s not bad, but Justice is a bigger threat herself. There’s a decent chance she keeps you closer to consistently in diamond than Kasshrek would.
You are correct. Justice is a tank, and that’s pretty much it. If you want her as your tank, understand that’s pretty much all you’re getting. Is that worth it to you?
Part of the answer depends on the rest of your lineup. For example, if you have Poseidon, your need for Joon is much less critical. But if you lack a fast, yellow sniper, there’s a significant opportunity cost to ascending Justice over Joon.
In a vacuum, my advice would be to give the mats to Joon (or Malosi) over Justice. He’s just useful more places, and that’s key with the rarity of materials. You can make dang near any hero (within reason) into a tank if you have the right surrounding parts. I stay in diamond 75% of the time with Domitia +18 as a tank. She’s really not very tanky, but as part of a yurple center that includes Onatel and Poseidon, and with her defense up against yellow if she fires, she punishes yellow stacks enough to be kind of viable. You’re probably better off using a less traditional tank - or maybe even sticking with Lizard Boy, if you had some fast blue flanks, for example - than ascending Justice. (I have been seriously considering kicking the tires on a center of Vela - C. Kasshrek - Magni on defense once I finish leveling Magni. I don’t expect much, but the color synergy is there.)
Justice has a limited shelf life really, and I kind of regret ever giving her materials. Look, she’s a good tank, but you’re not actually playing when tanking is important. She’s pointless outside of defense (well maybe viable in 5* rush tourneys).
My preference now is to give mats to heroes I use, rather than the ones I set and forget on defense
I really appreciate the advice. It seems like you all have the same assessment that I have. I don’t want to ascend Justice for just a minor bump and regret losing those rare materials later, especially when Joon and Malosi are two heroes very much worth the materials.
The materials I have would ascend my first five star yellow. I am completely lacking a fully leveled yellow sniper, whether 4 or 5 star.
My current defense is Kageburado+8, Boldtusk+18, Kashhrek+16,Jean Francois, and Lianna+6
If I had Justice fully ascended I’d make it… Lianna+6, Costume Rigard+13, Justice, Kageburado+8, and Jean Francois. I don’t really like JF on the wing, but I don’t really have a better option.
I dont think that focusing on defense is such important to give the mats to justice instead of Joon or Malosi.
I think that Joon is the right choice here being a truly beast offensively spoken. You can use him as a wing or flank in defense , though personally i would focus on offensive heroes like Joon which are overall more rewarding .(better results on war attacks, better results against titan, raids and pve content)
First off, I currently run Justice as my raid defense tank. Of my (overwhelmingly TC20) options she is the best I have for that position. She keeps me firmly in diamond, which is all I can ask from my tank.
However – Justice is ONLY a defense tank. I have used her for attack but not convincingly. She is just not an offensive-oriented hero, and I basically don’t use her anywhere else but as tank now. She was also not the first (or second) 5* yellow I maxed. You are better off maxing Joon and Malosi first, they will be far more universally used, and then seeing what options you have for tank. Certainly from TC20 there are a couple other possibilities: Richard, Elena come to mind. Also, if you get Kashhrek’s costume that certainly boosts his tankiness.
What cup level are you at or looking to maintain? I sat in high platinum with a BT tank and in and out of low diamond with Marjana as tank. You could probably do the same with Kashhrek. But you need heroes for attack first.
I wouldnt ascend any hero for “raid defense”
If you’re going to ascend a hero for defense it should be war defense imo and then use that defense for raid defense
You hold close enough to diamond that I’m sure you’re already opening your raid chests in diamond pretty regularly
And building a better defense can actually be a catch 22 in raids. Higher you hold, higher you face. If you have a relatively limited roster then holding where you currently are is pretty ideal in my opinion
Why do you want a good tank? For more trophies? Keep in mind sometimes you don’t need one. Unless you want to reach #1 global - and that won’t happen using Justice.
If you keep your Kash tank but max a good hero like Roc or Malosi? Who will help you more in map, which is better rewarding than raids, for example. (Does raids provide any good thing but stress with the boards, actually? 1 ascension material every 400 chests doesn’t count)
Not mentioning you may emblem Richard or Thorne instead of her. They are not that famous like Userna or Telluria but will help doing some massive damage wherever you use them.
I dislike Joon a lot personally. Too squishy. But that’s doesn’t matter, just my experience on him. Maybe because I have Drake and Joon got overshadowed.
I appreciate all the advice everyone has given. It sounds like Justice is an upgrade over Kashhrek, but she isn’t really worth the materials and it isn’t a massive upgrade to go with her.
I don’t really know the statistics of the game, so I don’t know how much diamond league matters in terms of loot from the hero chest. Does diamond give you a much bigger difference in loot chances over platinum?
I really made a push for Telluria back in March, but my luck seems to run in spurts. The months where Avalon is the event, I’ve really nailed getting a handful of five star heroes. I’ve not been so lucky in other months. Weird, I know.
I agree that Joon is squishy, but his special is awesome and he’s a great sniper. I also like Malosi. I’ve been on the fence with Roc. I like that he’s a cleanser, but in a lot of ways he’s not as cool as JF, which is funny because I thought JF wasn’t all that great for a while… probably because he was sandwiched between Vela and Telluria who are awesome.

Diamond rewards and better than platinum but are very far away from being “good”. Once in a month you may receive something actually useful. Dont expect 4* materials or epic hero tokens.
I usually open my raid chest in diamond , but as i remain in low diamond there are sometimes when i dont want to push forward and end opening the chest on platinum around 2300-23xx cups .
I really dont notice any substancial difference between loots, and of course not a difference to justify the mats on Justice. By the way dont expect a huge change. I changed some 4* for some 5* this year and only worked to pump me from 2200 cups to 2300-2500 and only 2500 when i have a good streak of good luck from people who raid against me and loose.
This is my defense, and today im on the bottom line due to a few people who attacked me succesfully at night.
So personally id rather to focus on heroes who would make my raiding eaisier to get back all the cups (there is not possibility to not loose cups) and therefore its better to have good heroes to fill the chest faster
Given your other yellows Justice might not be the best to ascend, but having said that… She is often underestimated and far more useful than what people indicate here.
I play a mono yellow team in Raids consisting of Malosi, Onathel+19, Justice +19, Joon (c) +20 and Vivica +2 and Justice has never disappointed me. Her blind has won me many matches. Onathel and Justice on the wings are very good counter for Jubberwok.
I use Justice as my raid tank and she keeps me comfortably in the 2300 trophy range most of the time, occasionally I will log in and discover I have kept just above 2400. I dont have a yellow mana troop so she sits with a crit troop giving her a further boost. I have a +19 Kashrek who I use for war defence and almost constantly my war D gets destroyed.
I use her a lot in offence as well as maps and titans.
For titans she saves me having to bring arrows and let’s me add another more useful item.
For map she got me through Atlantis when the rest of my team weren’t really strong enough
For raids she has saved me so many times by making opposing heroes miss. She is in my go to raid team (Dom+7, Boldtusk+19, Justice+8, Kingston 4/39, Rigard+1) and has been instrumental in me winning raids against some teams up to 400points stronger than me.
