I would not put Fenrir and Skadi in the same league.
Skadi is niche… but that niche is big, and has gotten bigger recently with the xmas heroes. She is about as close to an insta-win hero as you can get in this game, as long as you can charge her 9 tiles. My war success with her is upwards of 90%. Even if you take minions out of the equation her total damage output to all should be greater than whatever Fenrir provides. And does even better in minion wars.
Fenrir is about the least intimidating hero you can get in defense, apart from possibly Tyr. I don’t have him but I would never level him if I did - he is somewhat akin to Nemo and Nemo shall forever sit at 1/1 on my bench. They are both sup-optimal snipers, a category that is itself sub-optimal in today’s meta.
Please please please don’t level Fenrir before Skadi…
He ever was any relevant. Maybe he’s useful if you don’t own C. magni, alasie, penguin, c. Thorne or other hard ice hitters. Otherwise he will collect dust in your bench eventually. Hope the soul exchange will allow S3 dupes to give you more points so you can use him for something more useful
I use him quite often. There were some situations when a hero I wanted to kill was near but above 50% and it was uncomfy. On the other hand, there were some situations with e.g. Krampus with his def up and a minion near, but under 50% HP and he managed to kill the dude. A regular sniper couldn’t do that. As the other guys said above, he is really useful on difficult bosses, where his 640% hit is really massive and used fully.
That said, I don’t regret the scopes on him. On the other hand, I don’t have top-notch blues, I usually pair him with cMagni, Kiril and/or Isarnia. The def down and/or attack up gives his hit even more lethality. But if I had Skadi, I’d definitely ascend her before the Lone Wolf.
Fenrir was my only ice sniper during a long time. Now I pulled Pengi, he is collecting dust along with Mica, Lady Loki, and other meh heroes. However he is not that bad, and if you don’t own any other blue hitter, he does the job.
I still use him in my mono-Blue during wars and sometimes in raids (use 3-2 there). Also during Towers. I think he is a great finisher and on offense, you can target heroes under 50% of health. I never used him on defense.
Fenrir was my first non-season 1 / non-hotm hero. Even though I could ascend 3 blue 5* at any time, I still don’t think he’s worth the materials.
I have a lack of fighter emblems which means he’s never everg going to have at least 10 talents.
No, I don’t have any +20 talent blue sniper. I have Frosth (lb + 20 talents), Thorne (+20 talent), Vela (+20 talents), Isarnia with costume (no talents), Magni (maxed, no talents). And yet, my blue team in war does excellent results.
I think I have a decent blue team and he’ll never be part of any war fights.
For offense, he is relevant as ever, as long as you have a reliable method to bring enemy heroes to 49%.
He still packs the biggest punch (followed by 600% Capt Nemo and 550% Dark Lord).
I even argued in one posts, Capt Nemo is worse than Fenrir, since Fenrir conditions are more easily meet than the one of Capt Nemo (from point, that you more easily control/ set such conditions at the turn you wish to take advantage).
Fenrir also has heal, which Nemo doesnt and mana gain (which Nemo also has on first charge).
Fenrir can work also versus enemies who hide behind minions (but are bellow 49%) or have high defense buffs, since his usuall overkill will still be enough to kill heavily buff heroes which other snipers couldnt.
So if you wish to build a raid team around Fenrir, he can really shine (especially with mana gain after kill, so he can work like dominos - biting one enemy after another
I got him during 2nd month of Valhalla and took him to 3/70 immediately.
I used him a lot in those days in my one war team for cleaning and he would ensure a 100% kill of multiple heroes, which served the purpose & of course he self heals.
Used him for 2-3 months period
However, as my roster improved and newer season came, Fenrir became lost in the roster & still sits at 3/70.
Today even Skadi sits at 3/70 as I have better options and don’t have play style suited to Skadi.
BIGGEST change in my roster was arrival of LoLo (Lord Loki) who allowed me to copy every hero out there and hence I put many good heroes on the back burner.
Today am thinking of levelling my 2nd LoLo, who will serve better purpose than many other good good blues…
So, the key point is the roster, current crop of heroes makes a good hero total useless for a specific player.
You’re so lucky to get LoLo (x 2), I haven’t got him and it would be my dream to pull him! Maybe one day I’ll try hard when he is featured, but I’m sure I won’t get lucky lol.
LoLo was my first blue LB & will now break Pengi & again LB 2nd LoLo, who should be levelled up by the time of 3rd blue Omega.
Realised that LoLo will keep me in the hunt of any hero that comes in FUTURE = great advantage…
&
hence at times taking both LoLo’s for a play might be a winning formula = ROSTER play is the key & needs focus on heroes that can create possibilities for me… instead of emotional - likes & dislikes towards anyone specific !
I maxed him and don’t really regret it because I have more regrettable blue maxes. He still gets play time as a deep bench option in war. I’d rather have Lepus that I got from the Black Friday portal but I’ve gotten some good use out of him since I pulled him when he was released.
i was slow to ascend my Fenrir. my blue options were a bunch of 4* heroes, and i already had C. Magni maxed and Raffaele. i could choose between Misandra and Fenrir, and i ultimately decided to splurge some scopes on Fenrir and haven’t regretted it.
usually when someone is “situational,” i consider it a negative because the implication is that those “situations” don’t occur very often, but Fenrir has been far from situational for me. he’s a reliable kill shot, and especially with my other offensive teams that sometimes struggle to kill enemies because they’ve got like 14 HP left, Fenrir is a stress-free kill. he actually made me question, “what took me so long to max him?!”
Thanks for posting guys, it’s always great to hear opinions from both sides as everyone has different experiences and different uses of heroes based on their own needs and their roster
Fair enough! I might take him to 3/70 and then play with him there, even use him as a finisher for war scraps. I noticed Alasie is in the upcoming soul exchange so I might actually grab her there, despite not having her costume…
Oh interesting…do you have all the other heroes in the 20 category of Soul Exchange? The only one I’m missing is Killhare so I’ll probably go with her, not that I need her badly but I need the roster space and she’s decent anyway. May I ask how you use Skadi since you find her so useful?
I only have Skadi and Killhare (3 of her). LOL. But I also have multiple C. Marjs and 2x Kingston and 2x Fogg so I dont miss Garjamel or GM that much.
Skadi is an insta win against most minion themed teams. My usual team is C. Kiril, Skadi, another healer and 2 strong hitters in other colors vs the tank or a dangerous flank. Wait till the minion maker fires, fire C. Kiril, fire Skadi, then just wait it out.
Above also works in general although usually i will take Skadi as part of a 3-stack blue. Say, Skadi, C. Krampus, and Pengi. Then someone like Frigg for the DD, and a green healer. I tend to go with 2 healers or 1 healer + a taunter. Skadi is quite good in attrition battles.
Whoa 3 Killhares and multiple C. Marjs/Fogs, I’m definitely jealous! Ah right, I guess cause I’ve never used Skadi I’ve overlooked how strong she is on offense against minion teams! I’ve never had issues with her on defence as I often would focus on taking her out with snipers before she can fire. Also interesting that you like to take 2 healers, not something I’ve done before!
