You already have close to 20 maxed 5*, It wonā€™t take that long for you to reach 30, then those fancy costume for classic 4* are just not going to be attractive anymore (maybe except for emblemed costumed Boldtusk)

I disagree!

I have near on 20x 80ā€™sā€¦ I think that several of these costumes for the 4* are going to be very goodā€¦

Good examples being SONYA who now can dispellā€¦ Something which was limited really only to Rigard in the 4* tierā€¦ and also RIGARD who now has the ability to boost attackā€¦ something which was missing from Purple as a whole (excepting Khiona).

Great FAQ, @Guvnor!!

So, if I interpreted it rightā€¦ the base stat bonus applies to your hero card as soon as you acquire the costume??

I will do my own due diligence in comparison to maxed out pre-costume cards.

Yes. Provided you have both the COSTUME and the BASE HERO. Need both sides of the coin. else its just a penny.

Anyway I will repeat this again: restrict costume to only classic heroes and never do it for HOTM/Event/Atlantis heroes.
Reason is simple, currently no experienced players is interested in your elemental pulls or ascending most of your underpowered TC20 heroes. The only players making those expensive elemental pulls are mainly noobs. But guess what, those elemental portals are a permanent fixture in this game and if SG wants to boost sales, they better restrict costume to only classic heroes. Once costumes are extended to HOTMs and other heroes, classic will become the same as before, mainly no one is interested in them again, and all you does is to introduce another layer of grind and money spending to ā– ā– ā– ā–  even the whales off.

Yes but part of a successful business is hearing complaints and adjusting the model accordingly. This is true even when complaints are ridiculous or sensical, valid or invalid.

This is why many business yield to horrible customers, because in the grand sense, itā€™s beneficial and more profitable. As you say, it IS a business.

It doesnā€™t make sense to say we should be ā€œgratefulā€ that they are providing a ā€œserviceā€ and at the same time say they are just a business trying to make money. Why say players are acting entitled and then bestow this sense of entitlement to a business? Just because they have F2P doesnā€™t mean itā€™s charity; they benefit from it.

Players are customers and business is business.

I love what they have done to the heroes:

Joon - true god of war now (fighter)
Lianna - Sailor Moon - green Alasie with different class (cleric)
Richard - made so much tougher (barbarian)
Isarnia - high attack stats (sorcerer)
Quintus - now having a secondary ability like a super slow Zeline (monk)
Vivica - yellow Kunchen + dispel (sorcerer)
Horghall - just higher stats (ranger - :stuck_out_tongue:)
Elena - anti titan monster (rogue - OMG)
Rigard - everything great except WHY RANGER???
Melendor - the most ideal change of all 4*, he changed from Gandalf to Saruman (wizard)
Sonya - fast blue cleanser nuff said (druid)
Tiburtus - now his KISS music affects all (paladin)

The biggest disappointment for me was BT (give him a frying pan and turned him into a pure healer - liked his original better).

Costumes basically upgrades the heroes by a star because of the stats and also they can still be emblemed.

So of course they should cost more resources and mats.

Hard to know what it should be, since we donā€™t know what pattern, if any, it will follow. Maybe just something that starts with what has shown up in the past, updated each month until we can see what patterns show up. The discussion could be strategies and such, I guess. I just wanted to segregate event discussion from discussion about costumes themselves.

I wish they did this as just a Halloween exclusive and itā€™s more of an aesthetic look. But the changes are welcoming
I agree. Rigard as ranger is questionable and he looks a little off
And yes. Melendorā€™s alt is saruman!
The best is Richardā€™s alt. He looks the most designed out there

Also, just found out.

You donā€™t need the usual 4* mats to upgrade to tier 4 for a 5*.
You need need the usual 3* mats (similar to upgrading to tier 3).
So this is great news.

Some costumes are cute and improvements, some are goofy or seem to neuter a hero. The challenge was tougher than expected, I enjoyed that. I will not spend gems on costumes so I can re-level a hero for minimal benefit. If I get lucky and have the heroes to match the costumes. Maybe when I am bored enough, I will level a 3 just to put a silly costume on it. But not for a while.

Im note sure which one is better  Joon in costume have weaker attack and def, only HP is higher than without costume

Does the stats include the costume bonuses?

This looks weird. TP of non costumed is 842 at level 10 and the costumed is only 843.

But non emblemed base is only 752 and the non emblemed costumed is 793. Something missing here, is each emblem on the costume getting less TP increase?

Something is wrong here. Pic form this threadā€¦

The costumed version looks much better

Extra 20% dmg for special at the cost of - 19 attack

Lost 6 defence but gained 61 life

61 life is the same as 61/2 defence = 30.5 defence

So you gained 24.5 defence overall

But you lost some blindness

I didnā€™t know what to think of costumes, but I eagerly awaited their arrival. I got all the keys and summoned with them and did a 10-pull along with two single pulls. Figured it was worth a try.

Iā€™m done now. Will still earn keys over the year but no way Iā€™m pursuing costumes beyond my Day 1 adventure.

I donā€™t want costumes of heroes I donā€™t have, and even at team power of 4100 I feel like I have plenty of leveling to do as it is.

Rotten Costume Score: 3.5/10

After reading a lot here, going back and forth between my Bane, Hawkmoon, and Tyrum I pulled today, Iā€™ve decided I like costumes contrary to most opinions expressed here. There are several benefits to costumes IMO but the three major ones are:

  1. The bonus boost to the original hero. Iā€™m looking forward to getting Liannaā€™s costume for example to see my +9 original get + 35 attack, +35 defense, and +130 Hp. And the mana boost is not too shabby.

  2. The ability to switch between special skills. Need a fast dispeller against Aegir? Original Sonya with the bonus boost is a great choice. Need a fast cleanser against Gravemaker? Costumed Sonya is a great choice instead.

  3. War planning. I have one Melendor at +18 and as a hoarder, I also have three dupes at 1/1. If I get a Melendor costume though, I will ascend all three dupes at 4/1 and then take the costume at 4/70 for all four of them which would be easier than taking the three dupes at 4/70. This would give me a Melendor at +18 with a nice costume boost too (or a costume at +18, whichever is better), and also three maxed costumes of Melendor with pretty good stats. Opponents want to feature Blue tanks, and mostly Boril ones?

And as a side note, I donā€™t get the complaint that costumes are making TC20 or season 1 heroes obsolete. If anything itā€™s the opposite, most of them are becoming relevant again. Even must haves. Canā€™t wait to see what they do for poor Thorne. I have a sneaky suspicion theyā€™ll make him somehow a top hero, rewarding the loyal and patient people who suffered with him all this time.

I pulled the Skittleskull costume and have a maxed Skittleskull. (Donā€™t look at me like that, he was my only 4* green to level for the entire time I spent leveling him.)

I donā€™t understand this costume at all. Slightly less aoe damage, slightly greater -atk debuff, slightly better stats, change class to Cleric.

Is this a mistake? I mean, look at Rigard. His aoe heal turns into an aoe regen which is a major transformation (usually better, but sometimes worse). That seems interesting and costume-worthy. But HE ALSO GRANTS +48% ATK FOR ALL ALLIES! While still dispelling ailments!

Am I missing something here? Should I bother leveling Skittlesā€™ costume? (Also have Melendor and Kashh maxed for green, currently working on Gobbler.)
