Help please: hidden blades, emblem decisions

Looking for some input on a short term decision and a couple of long term ones. First: who gets the hidden blades (4 in hand): Colen, who’s been waiting patiently, or new exciting G. Falcon? Falcon will be my next red to level up once Wilbur is maxed. (Anzogh can wait his turn.)

Next, a couple of longer term emblem decisions. Does it make sense to leave Wu Kong as-is, and bestow monk emblems on Wilbur moving forward? And since Gormek has been sitting out most fights since Wilbur came up, should I reset his emblems and pick a new fave barbarian? If so I’d lean Gretel but also have Grimm though he’s farther from max. This is the first time I’ve seriously considered an emblem reset.

Thanks in advance for your consideration and input!

I really like Colen but he is unreliable as he is slow mana and easy to kill.

As Falcon has the important red-defence debuff, he is great for titans and would take priority.

As for Wu - I only use him for titans and a last hurrah in war so I won’t be giving him any emblems.

I don’t have Grimm or Gretel but have seen lots of opinions about Grimm being too squishy so you could consider emblems for him, but I’d wait for some more informed opinions.

What @JonahTheBard said! Colen is really nice but a bit to easy to counter in a def team, and agonizingly slow on offense. I’d go with Falcon, no doubt. Which ones are on your def team btw?

I had the same choice between Gretel and Grimm as you do, but after having maxed Gretel (was meaning to give her the emblems on account of Grimm being as squishy as that cooked macaroni your kids drop under the kitchen table and you then step on, preferably barefoot) and played with her some I changed my mind. She can be fantastic when used right, but the AI doesn’t know how to do that so a no go on def. She is also almost as weak as Grimm, and regrettably underwhelming when compared to her big brother who actually does some damage.

I decided on Grimm and started him on the attack pathway - I pair him with Frida. His survivability (or lack thereof) is starting to become an issue however and I will beef up his defense next step.

Gormek: I can’t advice you there. I cannot stand the sight of him and have never kept him. One must be allowed small indulgences in this harsh world.

Wilbur is a must have for me personally! But I don’t have Wu - a harsh world indeed - so sadly can’t help you. Which one do you feel is most useful? And are you planning pulls for June (rumored HoTM supposed to be a 5* Wu)?

I believe @AirHawk is vigorously fighting Gormek’s corner this week!

Hehe yes I saw that… I’ve never really leveled Gormek as I pulled him and Grimm at the same time and of course compared them to each other - unfavorable for the lumpy blob that is Gormek. Also and speaking of lumps and blobs, esthetics mustn’t be forgotten! I just don’t want to look at him.

(I’d give Grimm a haircut and a wash if I could)

Jokes aside though, maybe I’d keep him and raid with my eyes shut if I didn’t have Wilbur and Kunchen for def down. But I do, so I don’t.

Keep Wu with the emblems. He still needs it for survival against titans.
Wilbur does not need the emblem cause he can survive fights with his special.

Colen is the best 4* right wing hero on defense in my opinion.

Gormek is great on offense for a 4* team. High survival rate = higher chance to fire his special

Considering you may not have enough mats for 5* final ascension.

Having your lineup is quite solid.

On offense you can always do the BT + Wilbur + Colen combo. If still not dead, fire Gormek.
Falcon can always be added to a red stack when you have him up.

Grimm is a glass cannon PERIOD & Colen (don’t have him but wish I did) always is a problem for me when I raid against him. May you should try to put someone who is more of a problem for others to focus instead of Colen. That’s how I protect Grimm. They have to pick their poison.

Im gana bat for Colen, i have him with 7 emblems. Wilbur does -63 defence while GF only -54. Colen has 728 tile damage and GF has 552.

Hmm, so opinions are split between Colen and G Falcon! At this point I think I’m leaning towards Colen as he is ready to go and GF is still a baby. And i avoided raiding teams with Colen until I had Ariel ready to play!

@Kitten, here is my defense team. Glad you asked actually because I forgot Gormek is still on there, guess I won’t strip him of emblems just yet! But will probably start a new barbarian.

You might check out this discussion for some help with that decision, at least as it concerns Gormek vs. Grimm. If I ever pull Boldtusk, I would probably end up bumping Gormek from my defense team, and I was considering a reset for the same reason. However, after reading the defenses of the “Beefy Gormek” emblem build (which is the one I was already following), I’m reconsidering that decision, and I may just let Gormek anchor my second unit as a very difficult to kill debuffer who is basically guaranteed to fire. Anyway, lots of good perspectives in that discussion. Hope it helps.

I’m guessing you are referring to the link posted by @Noble_Weasel above

Yep. 27 days ago - no wonder I didn’t find it quickly. I didn’t go that deep into your post history when I was trying to find it, especially since I had already found something else that I felt had credibly shown your 4* Barbarian stance.

I definitely understood what you’re saying and can see that being a point in the game a player could reach; I am definitely not there - Grimm survives sufficiently well for my raid level. But like I said, it gave me a lot to think about in terms of my still as yet not even started emblem plan.

Thanks for that link; definitely a fascinating thread. Helps me narrow my options a bit and focus talent grid strategies for the future. Sadly I’ve split my emblems on Gormek, half beefy and half “attack” at +6. May leave him as-is and then commit new barbarian emblems to attack Grimm. At least now I know Gretel isn’t emblem-worthy (much as I enjoy her).

Still undecided on ascending Colen now or hanging on to the hidden blades for G. Falcon! That’s the pressing question right now.
