Help me with my team and ascends :)

Hey all.

I’m here to seek advice from the forum experts about my heroes!

So over the Christmas and all of december I’ve been spending a bit  to fill up some heroes in my squad and with some I feel lucky and others maybe not so much, but! New heroes means new opportunities (maybe?). I should note that I plan to go back to C2P after my little spending spree, but I could buy a package for ascending materials if that would help my upcoming team, that will be just fine!

However I seek help to:

  1. 3 stars to keep and focus on?
  2. 4 stars to keep and focus on?
  3. 5 starts to focus on?
  4. Which to keep duplicates for?
  5. Which hero to pick next in my Summoning portal?
  6. Help putting together a defense from my current squad and optional Summoning portal hero?

I currently have materials to fully ascend 1x Blue, Green and Purple 5 star from scratch. I’m 4/6 rings for a Red and 3/6 darts from q Yellow. Have 4 blades and 5 tomes. After these full ascends I also have spare materials for most 4 stars to fully from scratch.

I’m willing to ascend any heroes to build a great defense or if you guys recommend me a raiding team instead. I’m very open minded with these, as long as it seems like a good plan.

Here is my full list of heroes and costumes:

Here is my current Summoning portal situation and as you can see, I’m close to picking a new one, but I want this help before I do so, in case it will effect my choice :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve had ideas to put teams together like these:

In this team I was thinking Mother North as a reviver (probably costume version) and perhaps Tyr as a protector on the left flank, with Ariel as tank and mana generator and Freya as a little shield provider with extra defense and minions and Gullinbursti with some extra damage and health booster!

Another idea here is much the same, but maybe a bit more aggresive with Tinsel and more minions, defense and accuracy down and with optional right wing

Same as before, but with extra heal and mana speeder instead!

Another idea, here with Wilbur as the gameplan and a bit bulky with extra heals, reviver, defense and minions up, spread defense and enemy defense down.

Same idea, but more aggressive with many spread hitters after Wilbur fires off! Many optional heroea her. Could also use Otis with high spread damage and spread bleed

What do you guys think?

If someone could even suggest an entirely better team or route to work with, would also be appreciated.

I’m basicly seeking help making sense of the heroes that I have and what is food and what is keep. And once again ideas for building a defense or attacking team, depending on what makes most sense according to ascending!

Please, once again help me out, making better choices, so I can rise in this game or atleast take the next step forward.

This is my current defense team:

Thanks in advance!

what are these teams for? these could make good map or quest teams, as they will probably never die… but they might not be the best raid or war offense teams, or raid/war defense teams as they are rather passive

I see a lot of partially levelled heroes, I suggest to pick one per color and stick to them. i encourage you to get more depth in 3* and 4*, before going for 5*s

Proteus, D’Andre, Gullinbursti, Franz, Villiers, Wilbur, Mist, Rigard, Sabina are among the top 4* that you have. Along with Kiril, Sonya, Caedmon, Boldtusk, , Melendor, maybe C-Kashhrek, they are ones I would consider keeping duplicates of

TBH I would feed away most of your dupes, as you just have so many heroes.

as for heroes to keep and focus on: for your 5*, definitely Skadi, Bera, Inari, Mom North, Alberich, Tarlak, all worth keeping. Lianna and Leonidas, you have the costumes, keeo. depending on how much you summon, the “vanila” heroes that you do not have costumes for, can maybe be Soul Exchange fodder (Justice, Richard, Horghall, Elena). (if you were a complete non spender, I would keep them)

I think you go too passive in defence. Survival ability is not enough, if attacker is given time they will stack the hits enough to kill the defenders one by one. MN on left is OK, good idea with Freya tank with Gulli as right flank. But in this team the rest should be heavy hitters, best hit-all kind. Maybe Justice or Onatel on left flank and Tinsel onright wing?
And as to next pull - your roster is rather short in red, so probably Mitsuko, then Grazul?

You have many heroes now, so you can safely feed all the 3* and 4* dupes, maybe with some exceptions of very key heroes - Proteus, maybe Treevil or Kvasir and healers and dispellers, where you can keep one duplicate for later.

Thanks for the help so far! I’ve saved some of these (many dupes) in case they would come in handy for feeding potential 4 and 5 stars, but I was also curious as to what heroes makes sense to have more than one of, so wanted to clearify those things before just feeding away and also which heroes to focus on next, so I know who will take all this meat

I’ve been working on 3 stars mostly lately and those multiple low levels are mostly due to dupe feeding of the same kind, to ensure some skill guarantees and then I’ve left them alone while focusing on other prioritised ones for now. Atleast that’s how it is for the most part.

As for what team, well… I would like to shape up a good defense team, but if there are so good allround heroes that could potentially work well for lets say raid and titan or raid and defense then it would ofc be a good place to start, seeing I don’t currently have any maxed out 5 stars!

My plan was to focus on 4 stars again too! But probably just get a few 5 stars to aid the defense or raid team, if they would fit in well and then probably go back getting some of these decent 4 stars up and running!

I hear what you both say and yes I can see what you mean by the defense teams seeming passive. Is there any recipe or something for too many slow mana users? I mean I do what heroes such as Otis or Franz or such that do a decent damage to all enemy heroes?

I think I’m basicly looking into building a decent defense team and maybe aid to some raid team, so I can climb up the trophy ladder or atleast try! As I’m currently sitting in gold and I seem to lose a lot from enemy raids.

I appreciate the help guys! I would like to have some heroes that like I can really focus on, that might help my game experience with probably mostly raid/defense!

Fantastic idea! They’re easier to ascend and I have multiple copies of 4* costumed S1 healers that I use every war. Other heros I kept dupes of were Proteus x3, Franz & Treevil. Sleepy & H.V gave you great advice re: dupes.

You have some great 5* heros, but without a plethora of 4* Ascension Mats (AMs) they’ll be tough to ascend. If you haven’t already, joining an alliance hitting Level 10*+ titans will give you a regular source of potential 3*&4* AMs.

Dont neglect your troops - they will help tremendously as you tackle the 5200+ defenses. GL.

Thanks once again for the advice! I think my idea was more or less to build that defense team and/boost a raid team with a few handpicked 5 stars that I could fully ascend with my current mats and then go back to the 4 stars. Maybe it’s the wrong route?

However how would you guys describe a defense with something like, from left to right:

Mother North (any version) - Left Wing
Inari (any version) / Leodinas (any version) / Onatel - Left Flank
Freya - Tank
Gullinbursti (any version) - Right Flank
Mitsuko / Seshat / Sekhmet / Proteus - Right Wing

Will the right wing be too slow with the average heroes? And which of those yellows on the left flank would you guys see more potential ascending? I feel like they are all decent heroes, but I have a hard time grasping which ones would give me the best benefits in general.
I feel like I see quite a few Leonidas in wars and from some of my mates in the alliance at the 2400-2500 cups range.
Although I keep hearing how great Onatel and Inari is.

Another version could perhaps be something like:

Mother North (any version) - Left Wing
Tinsel / Mitsuko - Left Flank
Freya - Tank
Gullinbursti (any version) - Right Flank
Tinsel / Sekhmet - Right Wing

To maintain a fast right wing and maybe a bit more aggresive style?

Leonidas with 1st costume, he casts defense down against Yellow, this is a very rare and useful skill - useful anywhere as they make your Yellow tiles do more damage. (I think he’s also the most immediately threatening on defense of the 3 Yellow choices you have, as he does decent damage. Inari’s damage to all is nice but a bit low

do not use Proteus and Onatel on defense together, if the A.I. aims them wrong they hit the same heroes… Onatel can’t drain any mana if Proteus prevents the enemy from gaining some in the first place

I would use Sekhmet as your right wing, to get all colors + she is the most immediately threatening damage dealer of your choices + brings some passives

Thanks for this!

Sorry I haven’t been able to reply sooner, bit a been hectic, as I’ve been stuck in traveling, with cancelled flights and delays, forcing me to take alternative methods in use to get home from the holidays, this and work has taken all my time!

I see what you mean and I think I’ll follow that! Uhm, quick one though. Do you think Freya or Bera would be the most ideal for this position or even a flank position? What I’m trying to say is, is it a bit of a waste to ascend Freya, now that I don’t own her costume and is Bera more useful in general? (Seeing a few Bera tanks and flanks around, but mostly only costume Freya, if I ever see any)

no worries and hope you get a breather soon! hope you’re home safe too

hmm tough one! I’m not the best expert… I suggest working on Bera first, testing it out and seeing how it goes. for what it’s worth, I think Freya will be worth ascending eventually anyway, question is just: priority or wait?

pros/cons,

Bera is generally plain useful against all minion summoners, while Freya has great synergy with your own minion summoners like Mom North (although TBH, North is used mainly for the revive anyway…)

I only have Bera, not Freya though

TBH at this point in the game, I would consider ascending heroes that can be used in multiple game modes. Bera is great both offensively and defensively for example  I take her even when the enemy has no minion makers. while Freya shines more when used with your other minion summoners.
