I’ve just maxed Rigard’s costume and wanted to give him some Ranger emblems (since with the costume on he becomes a Ranger). But I can’t, the talent tree is greyed out and it says “Costumes have the same Talent Grid progression as the Hero. Go to the Talent Grid of the Hero to edit the Talents”. But if I go to Rigard’s talent tree without his costume, then he’s still a Cleric. I wanted to give him Ranger, not Cleric emblems, according to his new costume. Otherwise, why would he be classified as a Ranger now if you can’t give him Ranger emblems? Am I misunderstanding something here?
My understanding is…
You can only use the primary emblems to up the level in the tree…but then you use the actual tree based on which version of the hero you play with.
So for Rigard, you can only use cleric emblems. But if you use the costumed version of him, you follow the ranger tree and abilities.
I don’t get it. But that’s what I tried to do: level his costumed version with Ranger emblems… And it’s not working.
U have to use the original emblem path of the hero. It will carry over to the the costume.
But then what’s the point of “changing” the class of the costumed hero if it really means nothing and you can’t level him as his new class? I still have to give him cleric emblems but he’s supposedly a ranger?
You can follow the build of the other class that you want to use you just have to build it with a different kind of emblem. I agree with your frustration and one of the reasons I havent bothered with the costumes myself currently
It doesn’t mean nothing. When you use the costume, you get the skills based on the costumed version of the hero. So instead of mana shield, he’d have pierce.
You cannot use the emblems of his new class, but you can choose the path based on his new class.
The primary use for costumes, besides the costume bonus, is to take advantage of new talents from new classes, take advantage of a different special skill and to increase the diversity of heroes you can use during class trials.
The fact that you still have to use emblems from the original class has been one of the main complaints from players.
Yeah I find the whole change of class pointless ok cool can use in quests.
That’s it! I was for the idea of costumes iv got a chao+7 and one at 3/60 if I pulled his costume when it comes out I’d level him to max and costume then what ever class give some emblems too! Not using ranger emblems.
Costumes need a re think
There is a thread that discusses this. I’d recommend looking there and continuing discussion as needed.
