I’ve just finished ascending a couple of 5* that have potential. I’m going to test out their effectiveness without any emblems to study a little more carefully whether or not they can contribute without needing a few nodes.
From an efficiency standpoint where I am in the game and the balance of how much investment I will put into the game at any particular time, I still struggle with the thought of putting any on 3*. I can finish in the top 1-5% of tournaments so long as the boards don’t make it impossible, considering how competition is matched up. I often don’t compete for high scores in challenges because I don’t want to invest the time/flasks it takes to keep improving my score unless I’m on the edge of moving up a bracket.

i’ve always been an emblem spreader. i want my roster to be as ready as possible to handle as many things that the game will throw at me as possible.
i freely emblem my 3* heroes, at least the ones that i know for sure i will use in tournaments, and sometimes i’m power-leveling a 3* hero that i know will be effective for a particular tournament type. they’re so cheap and easy to max and emblem that it’s not worth stripping them just to get 233 emblems back that won’t even get me three nodes on a 5* hero, especially given how rare reset emblems are and how wasteful resetting with gems can be. the 5* can wait its turn haha.
i’ve been on a 4* spree the last few months, so i’ve gotten a lot more 4* heroes to +18-20 (depending on the utility of nodes 19 and 20). i use a bunch of 4* heroes in my war teams and on titans.
whenever i maxed a 5* hero, i always took it to at least +7 in emblems. nodes 8 and 10 are just so expensive that it was not worth it to me to spend them all on a single 5* when i could get multiple emblem nodes from those 125 on a 3* or 4* hero. only now in the last three months or so have i started taking specific, frequently used 5* heroes beyond node 7 because i had tons of certain classes of emblems going unused. just a few weeks ago did i take my first and so far only 5* hero to node 20.
JekylandHyde did an emblem video a while back that was the inspiration for how i allocate my emblems. “i’m not building a single team; i’m building an army.”

Interesting Dawn. Spreading them around had been my general strategy but it seemed like I was the only one.
