This thread is to provide early insights and discussion on the October 2023 HOTM, Uthragan

All Information from Beta is Subject to Change!

Don’t get attached

Details from beta, especially brand-new beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual hero release.

It’s incredibly common that heroes are changed during beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of beta testing.

So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of skills to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to stats to be made.

Or: How many summons are needed to get a HOTM?

Special thanks to @Garanwyn for assistance on summoning odds and proofreading for this section.

It’s important to remember that HOTM have very low summoning odds. No amount of summoning will guarantee a HOTM.

On average, in a 10-pull, you have a 12.3% chance of summoning the HOTM.

But that statistic can lead our minds astray in exactly how our odds play out as we continue summoning.

Some useful insights:

  • 73 times out of 100, you’ll get a HOTM by pull 100
  • 95 times out of 100, you’ll get a HOTM by pull 229
  • 99 times out of 100, you’ll get a HOTM by pull 352

Putting that in Perspective

  • 27 out of every 100 people won’t get the HOTM by the 100th pull

  • If 1 Million players each summoned 100 times, 270,000 of those players wouldn’t get the HOTM

  • 5 out of every 100 people won’t get the HOTM by the 229th pull

  • If 1 Million players each summoned 229 times, 50,000 of those players wouldn’t get the HOTM

More Insights & Reading

I highly recommend reading these two threads for more information and context on summoning odds:

If you’ve read them a million times before, you may consider reading them again before deciding on your budget for summoning. A little time spent deciding on how much money you want to risk on summoning goes a long way to avoiding disappointment, frustration, and regret later.

Doesn’t look super impressive, but another very fast purple for me to pair with C. Victor and Kage wouldn’t be unwelcome.

Not impressed…

Clarissa was doing 155% to 3 plus 284 DoT to 3 over 2 turns (142 per turn)… this guy is 150% to 1 plus 501 DoT to 3 over 3 turns (167 per turn)… Not much improvement here.

This guy will likely go straight to SE.

Interesting to see the first two comments being not impressed, when 100% of the comments in the beta thread are positive.

Like @KeeSnow I was looking at Clarissa for a comparison.

I could see Uthragan as a potential tank for me (replacing Freya). Very fast is nice. DoT with healing can keep him alive longer.

His artwork is great. Looks a bit like C2.Horghall meets Venom/Carnage.

Funny. I just left the C. Victor thread where we were discussing him as a tank for the same reasons! I’m glad you find him good. I certainly wouldn’t mind having him or being pleasantly surprised by him.

Not impressive as well

Unless

1 defense +50

2a deal 225% damage to the target and nearby enemies
Or
2b *deal 300% damage to the target.

  • The target receives 334 Poison damage over 3 turns. The poison can spread over to nearby enemies. The caster absorbs 50% of dealt Poison damage as boosted health.

I have Clarissa and Dark Lord maxed so this guy doesn’t really work on my purple titan team with the poison damage certain to be replaced by some other poison damage. I’m not looking for a new purple tank so this is a huge disappointment when purple is my weakest color. More damage and something different than purple poison and I’d be interested.

Uthragan? Is there some sort of Norse or Arabian or Chinese myth behind the name? Because at this point, it feels like the game devs are just putting random letters together because they have created so many heroes.

Back to the HotM… decent looking special. DoT and healing seem to be the new trend. He’s gonna have to wait on Barbarian emblems because there are so many great Barbarian heroes right now.

Dont know if positive feedback from beta can be counted as a good sign…

I am also not impressed by this HotM, I have Clarissa and not using her since years. The healing is better, ok…the stats are higher, ok…but no.

This one is nothing special and absolutly no niche hero, again dark and poison…

Beta-testers can use it and look results. Here you only can talk about what you imagine is it.
This hero is good, he can receive 1000 health’s points per turn for 3 turns when 3 enemies are poisoned

Anyone tested him with Telonius, who boosts DoT by 50% and can fire that skill in 6 tiles also? Could be a nice combo.

You give me Telonius and I test it

Couldn’t do that. My younger daughter was the one who initiated that lucky pull. She wouldn’t take kindly to me giving him away, even if I could.

This is a quite controversial Hotm.

I believe after blocking the ailments, the 150% damage will only makes you fcuk 150 times…

I don’t understand why he remind me Klaern, anyway, his DoT is much better.

I like this one. Seems to me very fast and absorbs all the poison as health can keep it alive for a long time. Whether it’s an adequate tank or not is left to be seen.

This card will pair well with Viselus and Telonius.
Viselus and Uthra keep healing and Telonius increases the poison damage by 50% and He can add his poison to everyone. They become immortal.
Telonius and Uthra can fire pretty fast.

Innate Resistance: Resist Mana Generation Stopping
This character has innate resistance against status ailments that stop mana generation.

This is a somewhat rare passive (Neith and some other HotM I forget also have it) and it resists not only Hel/Proteus as expected but also Onatel-like mana stealing. Very fast is nice, especially with that elemental link and that poison is obviously very strong if the enemy tean can’t block it.

So it’s definitely not a game changer hero, but it adds good roster depth.

Sorry Everyone. Clearly because my birthday is in October, they deliberately gave a sh!t HotM for it

Facing quite a few LB2 ones in beta, this is a formidable tank.
