đŸ§Ș Early information on the March 2022 HOTM -- Zagrog

I have tried Cobalt at 3x charge against dodge. Dodge is still applied. So, dodge, in a way, doesn’t count as a defensive buff

Still not a Dispeller Red. (We are still waiting
 Like forever)

And it’s weird that he Resist atk (even buff) yet his Elemental link is Attack.
I guess he is way weaker than Russel.

C Kad dodge should in theory be able to work against the hotm. Just like Cobalt.

I like that again SGG are thinking of new Special abilities and/or combinations to add to the game. I think his mechanic is pretty neat and will certainly have value, how effective of a hero he will be is still in question for myself.

As it is now, it won’t bypass taunt. It does seem to bypass BK’s ‘it’s a flesh wound’ and Krampus defense buff.

Why on Earth do they need to give this hero a downside? Why render his elemental link useless to itself? Is the hero so overpowered that any buff in attack would be game breaking?

What am I missing here?

If there is a cap to how much mana he can gain, then I agree that a punishment to attack buffs isn’t warranted. If however he can functionally charge immediately so long as the targets have enough defense buffs, then I could see a punishment here. Afterall, against 3 targets each with say Counterattack and a Defense Up, he would be able to fire every turn so long as he has appropriate targets.

Unless I am not understanding his special

The elemental link works on him too. It’s just the wording.

Elemental link affects the attack stat. The innate ability says this hero can’t receive attack buff.

The element link adds 10% defense for fire heroes.

@PlayForFun It seems there is an error in the hero’s description in the post. It says the element link buffs attack, but it’s defense.

That’s a bitt odd, cause he’s supposed to be in the same batch of Viscaro and Iris, and elemental link should give +10% attack. Or am I missing something?

You’re not wrong. But that’s what his card says.

i don’t think it’s that strange. it’s SG staying one step away from putting a red dispeller in the game so that all elements have dispel :joy:

potential list of things that can be bypassed:

  • all forms of riposte
  • all forms of defense up
  • all forms of special skill defense up
  • all element links that include defense up or special skill defense up
  • Paladin talent
  • all forms of elemental defense up. according to the card description, the damage would ignore fire defense up, but would other elemental defense up still be bypassed to give the 20% mana?
  • family bonuses that include defense up (or special skill defense up, if there are any)
  • Black Knight’s Flesh Wound buff per @StillVictor
  • damage reduction (e.g., Sif)
  • S4 damage reduction passive? can someone test this one against, say, Phileas Fogg?

Oh, sorry, you are right.
I have adjusted the OP.

No, he doesn’t bypass Taunt or Dodge.

While the 20% mana gain is nice, he’s just situational at this point. Pretty much a paladin and sif counter. Have him be fast, lower the base damage and let him deal extra damage if his attacks bypasses defensive buffs instead

Doubt SGG will listen much. They hardly listen until the clamouring horde becomes deafening

I don’t know what this effect is accomplishing, what’s wrong with the regular resist attack ailments innate? Other than attack down, what other ailments are there that affects attack? Or if I am forgetting any types of attack down ailment. If there are new stacks in the future that affects attack, yeah sure this effect is good to resist, but in return he can’t even receive any forms of attack buff. So he can’t receive normal attack buffs from tarlak/Miki right?
And what will be his interaction with gazelle? Will he just not be affected by the dancing buff?
Does this include crit chance?
I feel like this innate hinders more than it helps

Should pair quite nicely with Wilbur. Fires at same time. Bypasses the damage share (which also means his hit has more of an effect as opposed to being watered down over 5 opponents). The def down increases his hit. He gets 20% bonus for his mana to go again.

Very true. I often forget that shared damage is a buff. I don’t know who I’d sit for him
I like lady Loki, Russell, mai yang
My support two are boldtusk and Wilbur
So I need a sixth spot to do it justice.
