This thread is to provide early insights and discussion on the new Round 2 of Toon (tertiary) costumes for Season 1 heroes.

Don’t get too attached

Details from Beta, especially brand-new Beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual release.

It’s incredibly common that features are changed during Beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of Beta testing.

So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of features to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to functionality to be made.

Why bother releasing a new costume that is way inferior to prior costumes?

It seems pretty consistent that the toon costume is an improved version of the base costume, which makes sense given the toon artwork is based off the base level costume.

I do have to agree though, that, the base special is not always the strongest of the specials. For example, in theory… Kadilen won’t have dodge on her toon costume, so, everyone will likely still be using C1 or C2 there :slight_smile:

yeah, i guess thats pretty much it… a big costume bonus for the existing better version. obakan t2 will be a good tank with the costume bonus

Considering that crazy passive bonus they have, it’s just fair that the special skill is nothing too much powerful. We all know in defense that 25% chance means they’ll resist pretty much everything you throw at them.

I’m more eager to know whether these “toon” costumes are gonna be Legendary-exclusive…

Ironically, while I might see what they’re doing/implying with Rares getting 1 costume, Epics getting 2, and Legendary getting 3, it makes it very clear that they almost don’t care at all about Rare heroes entirely that they (at least S1 and S2 rares) have been reduced to feeder status. Even tournaments barely give them much shine.

I also still think the toon costumes should have been a balance update on base.

I think both of them should improved with dealing same damage to the target and nearby enemies

Obakan’s card shows the special as Toon and Counter. Toonstrike is Sartana’s special for C#3. FYI.
