🧪 Early Information on new Fables of Grimforest Hero - Frog Prince [Part of The Beta Beat v59]

This thread is to provide early insights and discussion on the initial release of new Fables of Grimforest hero called Frog Prince

Don’t get too attached

Details from Beta, especially brand-new Beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual release.

It’s incredibly common that features are changed during Beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of Beta testing.

So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of features to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to functionality to be made.

There are a total of one (1) new heroes added to Beta for testing; these have been indicated to be for Challenge Festival I.

  • Deals 150% damage to all enemies.
  • All enemies receive 1250 Poison damage over 5 turns. The caster receives a small amount of mana each time Poison damage is applied.
  • All enemies get -54% mana generation for 5 turns. This effect can’t be cleansed.
  • Allies share the damage this character would receive from Special Skill attacks and normal attacks for 5 turns.

Out of interest, this is the same “shared damage” buff that is applied by say… Wilbur, but on allies rather than enemies? Interesting…

Also, I assume the small amount of mana from poison is once per turn? Or is it in fact, a small amount xN if applied on multiple heroes?

Either way, I’m kind of digging this guy, and an uncleansable -54% mana gen for 5 turns is insane :star_struck:

Honestly they just need to do ittt…make this hero balanced. Very-Fast…or Fast if feeling generous.

Anyway, base tp will be over 1k very very soon and we will see 2k tp with a triple LB aether, etc.

No, since this only applies to special damage and only to Frog. So if anyone else is hit with a special skill, they take normal damage. If Frog takes a hit, it is distributed to all alies. Sort of like a reverse Quintin.

Is this the new meta tank?

All damage THIS hero takes is shared by allies, not a spirit link but a one way flow making damage skim off the tank (assuming he is the tank). Flank with a healer or damage reducer (Sif pops to mind but wrong color, there are others that do that but names are escaping me) and he could be beastly to bring down (Belladonna next to him making his buff undispellable for instance)…

Fighter means he can revive and fire so looks to be an excellent tank.

He will be a brute!

If they end up doing an Untold Tales for the retired Challenge Events, it’d somewhat explain why they think adding a new character AFTER the fact YEARS after you’ve technically abandoned these Challenge Events is definitely a move.

Anyways, that’s a neat buff. And those debuffs aren’t gonna remain uncleansable by the time he releases.

-54% mana gen for 5 turns? In Rush, there’s no way to come back from it once its gone off


For the Poison dot, do we know what the highest it can go to, with emblems, LB, and troops added together?

And here I thought that the old Challenge Events were dead and forgotten.

The Frog Prince has 896 attack and 1250 DoT, which translates to a DoT factor of approx. 1.396 DoT/attack (=1250/896).

The DoT formula is
DoT/turn = floor(hero‘s_DoT_factor x hero‘s_attack_value x (1 + troop_attack_bonus) / DoT_turns x damage_bonus)

As a fighter he can get 110 attack (=5x15 + 1.04 x 896) from emblems.

From lb2 the average boost should be 114.05% of the max stats, so another approx. 125 attack (=896* 0.1405)

Let’s assume level 30 mana troops with +26% attack.

Defending team gets +20% on DoT damage.

He will then have approx. 2385 DoT = 5x 477 DoT/turn, which will kill most teams that are not set up to deal with this or suffer from a bad board.
When on the attacking team he will do “only” 1985 DoT = 5 x 397.

2385 DoT = 5 x 477 DoT/turn = 5 x floor(1.396 DoT/attack x 1131 attack x 1.26 / 5 turns x 120%)

Thanks Zack. So, it seems that this hero focuses more on stalling and letting the poison do its thing. and 477 poison dot each turn, and -54% mana gen, i think this hero needs a nerf. As this one on defense could decide the outcome should it fire.


Yes, he already does something like 200-400 damage with his special (150% at 1131 attack) and as he is slow, a lot of slash attacks and some specials from faster allies will have happened in the meantime.

You either have to be charged to cleanse, reflect or block or you will hardly be able to come back from the DoT and the uncleansable -54% mana gen.

250 poison per turn. Gives a small amount of mana per turn.

How much mana would that be ? 0.4 tile or less than 0.4 ?

Also, would the mana gain be just once per turn regardless of number of afflicted enemies ? Or would it be small mana per turn per afflicted enemy ?

5 poisoned enemies. 250 per turn => 5x small mana for this Prince ? If it’s 0.4 tile per afflicted enemy, that’s 2 mana tiles per turn. :grinning:

Love the -54% mana gen. Didn’t TreeVil have this before he was nerfed ? Does this mean this Prince may be nerfed into a Toad Prince eventually ?

There’s a high chance this hero is going to get stealth nerfed. Once he fires it’s very difficult to recover
