Costume Level Up - Experience and Materials Required + Experience Gained via Feeding

Hi, I tried searching the forum but couldn’t quite find what I was looking for. So my question is: Can I upgrade a hero with a costume, that is not in any way leveled up, or do I have to first level up at max the normal hero, and then start all over again but with the costume?

E.g. I have a regular Grimm, who is Level 1/Ascension 1 and I have a costume for him that also says Level 1/Ascension 1. So I thought, well, I like the costume powers better and I should upgrade that one.

But when I tried I got a message saying "You are about to level up a Costume for a Hero that has not yet been ascended. Please note that Costumes cannot be ascended above the Hero’s ascension level. "

Which kinda means I have to fully ascend the regular hero and then move on to the costume, right?

Yes, that is right, your costume cannot be a higher ascension level that the regular version.

The same applies to the aethers and emblems, they go on the regular hero

Yes, fully ascend but not fully level.

4.01 on the original is enough to level the costume to max. But than you can’t limit break it or give it emblems, because for that you also need the version without costume at max.

Slight clarification, while Emblems do go on the regular hero only, Aethers behaves like Ascension Materials and will be needed to limit break both the regular version as well as the costumed version (the costumed version require significantly less Aethers than the regular, just like AM).

Further clarification…

With Grimm at 1-1, you can level C.Grimm up to 1-40.
However, you can’t take C.Grimm to 2-1 until Grimm is at 2-1.

Then with Grimm at 2-1, you can level C.Grimm up to 2-50.
However, you can’t take C.Grimm to 3-1 until Grimm is at 3-1.
Etc…
