I have really struggled against Boril/Cyprian defenses. Until recently, I only had 3* debuff and Chao for a sniper. Double riposte teams made it very hard for me to win against such defenses even when color stacking because I basically could only set up a team of healers and group attackers. So there is certainly a place for these heroes and teams that truly struggle with facing either let alone both of them lol.
Boril is a good tank for early game. He kept me securely in platinum for a long time. I only use him now sometimes in wars.
Ignore those saying heās not up to 5* standard. Theyāre right, but thatās not massively relevant for you right now.
I maxed and emblemed both Cyprian and Boril. I started with a lot of healers and utility heroes, so they took priority over more utility heroes, but behind what few snipers I got. Both are very useful in the 4* tier of challenge events (and 5* too), and even general map/raid play. Yes, Borilās defense/health are different, but that just makes him slower than Cyprian usually. Iāve got no problem taking Kiril/Grimm/Boril as part of a stack. Defense is high, but the riposte can still wear opponents down while being quite comfortable. Including a sniper in the rest of the stack is good for finishing off threats. I wouldnāt mind ascending a second one of each for wars.
@Cascade Now that I am in the upper gold to lower plat, if I see Cyprian i am triple stacking my holy heroes and bringing Proteus and Grimm for stalling one side of the field while dealing with the other side. Only one I cannot effectively triple stack with is Boril. Do not have high enough nature heroes to do so. They are all three stars and my two highest ones are Brienne +16 and Berden +15.
Bottom line, if I want to take out both Riposte heroes, then either double stacking or triple stacking is the way to go. It is just a question of having enough good heroes to increase tile damage.
Lol yes that is a thing. My green stack was max Belith, Mnesseus, and 3.60 LJ. LJ is so squishy and slow he usually dies before he can fire his special. I would usually bring some combination of Kiril +7, BT 3.60, or Tiburtus 3.60. Melendor finally came my way during Teltoc, so Iām feeding him now. Before Mel, I had started Muggy who is 2.1 now.
Yellow was/is 3.20ish Chao, max Melia and Bane. I also have Guin on 3rd ascension but I get more wins with her defenses than offenses. Iām mostly speaking in terms of raids, wars and tournaments where you canāt just drop a few flasks and continue.
Iām not quite to the point where I can color stack without 1-2 3* if I stack 3-1-1 which I prefer over 3-2. But most of my opponents have 0-1 3*. So unless I get good boards the wins are fewer than when I face defenses with no riposte. I kinda enjoy the challenge of it since Iām C2P I canāt do multiple 10 rolls (or even 1 10 roll most times) and RNG has decided to give me a certain set of tools to complete an objective. In raids I will reroll, but if in a tournament, I give it my best and hope for the worst Melendor will be a huge help once heās strong enough. So I am optimistic about future encounters with riposte.
@Cascade I actually had a successful one shot revenge raid today with a 3-1-1 team. Funny part is it was with an unexpected team. Li Xiu, Hu Tao, Chao, Proteus and Grimm. I was floored with how well I did. Having 3 mana controllers on the team helped by keeping the Ripostes to a minimum. I managed to combo 3 matches that were sets of 3 tiles the piled right into Cyprian. And Proteus let me isolate one side from generating mana while eliminating the other.
How is your strategy in raiding? Do you isolate one side as priority or does it depend on opponent line up?
@Aunty_Krauser Thatās great! Congrats on your win!
I tend to look for vertical matches over horizontal and the rest depends on who and where the heroās are vs where the ārightā tiles are. I know I had a surprising win against a riposte defense in the past day or so. I donāt remember many details at this point but I remember I had Chao and Guin who both were able to reduce Cyprians mana so he couldnāt refresh his riposte. Guin and Chao both died shortly after that and it was left up to Kiril and BT who I kept alive long enough for me to chip away at the enemy with tiles to win lol.
I canāt wait to get Proteus some day. I think I will really like him.
I have the 2 and even elena and i worked a little on boril and cyprian but not much cause i had elena early. That said to have face him many times boril is easy to take down with caedmon while cyprian is more difficult to beat (possible but way harder to me)
I always bring Proteus and Sabina against any riposters - even Cyprian.
like @Aunty_Krauser does, Iāve found Proteus effective for keeping riposters from firing off multiple times, while Sabina dispels and heals off riposte damage.
Lately iāve been triple stacking with Seshat too against Boril (my Greens are AOEs Skittles and Jack, skills very not good against ripostersā¦) sometimes I bring Margaret + Skittles against Boril, sometimes I do Kiril + Sonya or Kiril * lepus if I already have Seshat and Sabina both. Iāll probably triple stack Green once I level Gadeirus and Gregorion though.
against Cyprian I bring Li Xiu, Chao and Inari. even if I donāt murder Cyprian right away, the mana control helps stall out the riposte until I can power up Sabina.
and against Elena. I keep Proteus and one of Sabina or Seshat, and bring 3 Blues including Kiril and Sonya. one healer and one dispeller. thankfully her defense is low, so triple stacking Blue is usually enough to kill her before she fires unless the board is very bad
@Cascade Yeah, he is the one 4 star Atlantis hero I actually would like to have dupes of or better yet a full team of them. When I first got him I wasnāt too sure about how well he would do. Then I was reading on here about how awesome he is I decided to try him out for myself and my jaw dropped at how he was able to reduce the amount of specials firing and that massive DoT damage across 3 turns.
Should I unlock just the first node on my maxed Cyprian?
I wouldnāt unlock Boril because his class donāt really make sense with his skill, but for Cyprian being a defense hero his class seems to make more sense with his skill.
@Cascade Proteus is a complete GAME CHANGER, you will love him.
If he is your only Paladin.
Go for any route with health be it offense or defense route.
