Balur – 5* Ice / Blue - December 2022 HOTM (Hero of the Month) -- Initial Release

I have him maxed and 20 nodes,attack path…because im ftp and i hadnt new heroes to work on when i’ve pulled him “3 times…2 went to HA” my experience with him : he is average speed and somehow i feel he is even slow indirectly…some average speed heroes charge up faster than him i dont know maybe its a bug or just me " mana troops 29 " his hit per one isnt the best,he barely heals himself because in our days most raids finish fast…lots of new op heroes its a coin flip they finish you in 2 hits or you get lucky and kill them fast…so balur even after the buff wont bring any new significant increase to your attack unless you go mono and get a good board

He heals from the bleed he inflicts not from the bleed his allies do

Well, this is a nice surprise. I think the heal could be increased a bit more, but anything is an improvement. I’ve used him primarily as an anti-fiend prevention hero, but looks like he can do a bit more damage now.

No it’s is from any bleed source. Tested it out just now. You can stack barb’s bleed and bleed dot and they count as individual healing

Tbh i have never paired him with barbarians because i’ve heard his healing isnt stackable

Correct, any Barbarian will arrive his ailment.

I used him during the fighter/barbarian trials and he was healing all the time thanks to the barbarian blee.

So in a perfect scenario, if you can stack barb’s bleed and bleed DOT on all five targets, that would be 500 healing for him per turn. C tyr could bleed 3 already

I actually planned to send him to this SE!
But because my rosters are not super deep, now with buff, now he might become my best blue hitter :joy:

I go to my own filter program and found that there are 22 fast hitters and 11 average hitters who can do more than 500% hit.

With the exception of the new OP heroes,
now me, Barlur, with LB1, family bonus, and troop will also have 500 bleed in addition to 500% hit, 150HP recovery from 3-bleed-turn, and Fiend Protection .

Compared to the 500% hitter-group below, now he seems not at the worst in the group anymore :rofl:

There are so many ice snipers around, and I would still pick C1/C2 magni over Balur…

It’s not just the damage, but everything else. He and Reuben got quite decent buffs considering they’re hotms

Perhaps now he can be a good 2nd hitter (finisher) after MagniC2, or any Blue EDD for example.

500% + 500 bleed (+150 HP +Fiend Protect) is ok to F2P and C2P, I guess.

Moreover, if you look at the above 33 heroes who can do 500%, not many of them are Blue. And some like Fenrir is conditional.

agree, even before this buff he could hit surprisingly hard.

he won’t make my top Blue team, nor probably my 2nd, but he will be good to keep around for depth.

Just for fun, we can compare buff-Balur to to other average-speed hitter:
E&F, Rayne-PreBuff, Xiaotu, ThorneC1 (with CB2) at 4/80

It’s clear that Xiaotu is above the rest as he is suppose to be super premium in 1st-half-2023.

Rayne-PreBuff (before his speed convert to Fast) is better than Buff-Balur since he attack with 400% + 1300 DoT for 5 turns. The 1300 DoT is highest in the game.

Interestingly, Balur I think is moved closer to E&F and ThorneC1-CB2

E&F attack786, hit 600% = 4716 .

With 10% from 1hero of 2023 family, Balur attack 776*1.1 *500% = 4268

Roughly this will compare to opponent defense stat, lets say 800. So very crudely,

E&F will damage around 4716/800 = 589
Balur will damage around 4286/800 = 533

For 2nd effect, E&F 404 max health reduction will not usually applied immeidately if an enemy doesn’t have boosted health, and this number is not scaled with troop. While Buff-Balur with 10% troop will bleed around 450

So if enemy does not get boosted health, Balur can do damage of 533+450 = 983
while E&F 589 (but her max-health reduction still help reduce effect of normal healer)

Their Third effects are in the same grade: E&F kill all minions of 1 target, while Balur’s EL protect Fiend for all Blue allies (upgradable).

To summarize, Balur and E&F looks to me comparable to each other after Balur’s buff.

Similar analysis can be said with Thorne C1-CB2 (even tough applied 2x Bonus)

Now E&F is worth 10 souls, and
that’s why I mentioned I rethink my plan to resend Balur to SE

He is not a premium one-hit-kill for sure, but to C2P/F2P, he seems to me a good secondary hitter (finisher) after Blue-EDD or high-DD

I have Fenrir no Costume, and I think Balur is now better than him in many situations (except at clean-up war where Fenrir can strategically do 640% at fast)

Not sure if somebody has him LB2 :sweat_smile:
But it will be highly appreciate to see his DoT with LB2 after buff

I found him LB1 and his DoT is pretty higher than I thought.
With LB1, troop lv23, he does 618 DoT (even though his card show only 474 without family Bonus and troop)

I think now he is a bit effective than E&F (more conditional - see post above) who worths 10 souls.

And he hit my Haulstone with def ~1200 preety good
(864 damage + 618 DoT)

I hope to find more heroes that can inflict bleed. The bleed heal from him is now decent. I can start with c tyr in this portal who can bleed 3 for fast

Beside EDD, i plan to pair him with normal Grimm for his DD, matched speed and superior bleed. Grimm himself with LB2 (rage +20%) and superior bleed (+30%) hit quite hard too, so

EDD (CPerceus in my case), Grimm and Balur trio looks good to me

Haven’t leveled him beyond 2/60 (and almost SE food), now I have some motivation to give him 4 capes as the 1st step :joy:

Colors don’t match, but when I finish mine, I’m thinking of trying him with C. Victor and Tahir.
