Zocc – 5* Nature/ Green - August 2020 HOTM (Hero of the Month)

He’s fine with what he has been given. If he was given hansel’s skill for average, he’s too weak as speed is everything for mana control. That’s why Gretel lost out to Hansel when it came to mana control. While Hansel is better at controlling the tank’s mana, he’s crap at controlling the wings if you’re already struggling with the board. 50% cut is not a lot of mana drained and the hero at the wing can easily boost the mana back. Zocc can deal with heroes at the wings easier as he can force the enemy to use mana on themselves. A slow hero parked at the wings can forget about firing when he’s around. So that’s why he doesn’t need to fast mana. If he was fast he’ll be too OP

It logically makes no sense that clerics can block mindless attack. Mindless attack is a direct attack by the target that force-uses mana, it doesn’t make the hero lose or negatively affect mana

Lianna for the damage, zocc for the shaky but unique support, really depends on your play style. I used to play tons with hansel as support for my Proteus (whose also hilariously support too) back in the day so getting zocc has an appeal for me. But if you’re focused on power and plowing through the opponent’s as fast as possible, lianna is still viable as a sniper

The manashield talent reads:

+xx% chance to resist any negative mana status effects or effects that prevent the use of Special Skills

Mindless attacks does exactly the part in bold, hence manashield can resist it.

Here’s the thing, mindless attack is a special skill on its own, it’s not prevented by anything. The hero cab still use their skill, but instead of the hero’s original skill, it’s replaced by mindless attack. So it should bypass manashield

It says ‘negative mana status effects’ and mindless attack is considered one of those, as the mana is being used to the detriment of the hero/team instead of being used to cast the special skill. It makes sense to me anyway.

Thought a bit about it, and i think that to turn him in a balanced hero his special should work like Bjorn: one hit at target, another random to another opponent.
Both of them should apply mindless attack. As is it, it’s really underwhelming.

I’m not going to pull this month so don’t really care, but i really feel bad for the others.

No it isn’t. Mindless attack doesn’t affect any mana negatively nor does it force a character to not use a special skill. It’s original skill is just replaced by mindless attack. Any mana drain is directly on it’s victim’s part.

Mindless attack prevents the use of the original special skill. Doesn’t matter if mindless attack is a special skill on its own, if the hero can’t use its own original special skill as intended, then manashield blocks it.

It is a negative mana effect, as it means the mana will be used against the team when it is full-therefore meaning the mana will have a negative effect instead of a positive one. I guess we can just agree to disagree though.

Mindless attack does not affect mana in any way. And the mana is used in the victim’s own accord, so manashield shouldn’t even activate in the first place. But I will leave it here. It’s a agree to disagree situation

Doesn’t make sense. What manashield’s description is, it only prevents ailments that blocks the use of special skills. Even if MA replaces the original skill, it is still a special skill. So the wording for manashield is not true already.

Well the devs disagree with you so feel free to argue with them instead. We’re just going in circles here so let’s not waste each other’s time anymore.

Mindless attack triggers automatically when the affected hero mana reaches 100%. So it is not used in victims own accord. And yes, mindless attack affects mana negatively by completely wasting it. Once the mindless attack is triggered, the victims mana drops back to zero.

There’s only one way to settle this.

  • Pull Zocc
  • Level him
  • Hit a cleric

Sorted!

Hitting more than one sounds good (fits the special name too!), but chances are the other(s) hit would most likely be clerics or monks based on how evil the A.I. is lol.

Maybe his special should include as the very first step Blocks the triggering of talents for 1 turn…? That could be a cool new thing to have on various/future hero specials too.

Hitting more than one target would be OP on avarge speed auto include in every offence team (shut down 2 special skill) I don’t know people… where you get the ideas from but when I read it I am like whaaaat? :face_with_monocle:

Is ZOOC giving mana to the target as it says “increases the mana of the target by 50%”? After damaging the target 300%, she rewards the target for hitting? How benevolent… get her out of my team!

I think Zocc’s special skill should Hit the caster and be called “stop hitting yourself” in honor of the famed children’s game.
