Coming up to a crossroads soon with my 4* Buddy that I’ve been taking down the talent path. I’m going tanky AC and HP stats but there is an early fork in the road where I can choose a 2% mana bonus or a 3% defensive bonus.
Does the mana bonus significantly cut down on mana troop levels to increase Buddy to a fast speed (or make a difference at full troop in making him very fast)?
The AC boost appears to be scalable but does it continue to grow as I pump more AC stats along the talent tree or is it’s value static at time of purchase?
A 2% mana bonus by itself won’t improve much I think. I’m struggling to remember the required tiles for a special but I think a fast mana generator needs 8 tiles and an average speed needs 10 (or 4/5 for ghost tiles) so adding 2% doesn’t improve it much as you’d still need 7.84 tiles for a fast speed which would still require the 8th tile. I think that’s why they say the mana troops need to be a certain level (which was pretty high like 17 or something) before they are useful enough to require less tiles for the special, although for slow/very slow the benefit is greater and I think you can combine them for a better result (i.e. lower level mana troops plus a mana increase talent, although if you ever increase the mana troop level the mana talent isn’t quite as useful…)

I would go the mana route. That will allow you to charge Buddy 1 tile faster with a level 17 mana troop instead of a level 23 mana troop which is what he would need without the mana bonus from the skill tree
