Please help with picking raid teams and who ascend next

Hi, I am playing game for few months, right now I am sitting at ~1400 cups, but I have difficulties in winning raids (can win with lots of food invested to get a team with approx 3000TP) and losing almost all defensive raids. Can you help me pick best teams from my champs?
I have (I keep all 4 and 5*, some 3* as well for tournaments):
Red: Boldtusk, Gormek (both 3.60), Marjana (2.1), Grazul (1.1) Colen (2.1), not leveled Azar, Hawkmoon, Nashgar
Green: Little John, Kashhrek (both 3.60), Brienne (3.50), not leveled Mnessus, Berden and Belith
Blue: Grimm, Kiril (both 3.60), Valen (3.34) and not leveled Triton, Agwe
Yellow: Wu Kong (4.70), Bane (3.50), not leveled Poseidon, Li Xiu and Danzaburo
Dark: Rigard, Tiburtus (both 3.60), Balthazar (3.8), not leveled Gill-Ra and Tyrum

For offense, I am using Rigard, Wu Kong, Grimm, Little John and Boldtusk atm. The most annoying is lack of fast sniper here, I was thinking on getting Poseidon to 3.70 and replace Wu. Also Caedmon will be probably much better than LJ but I don’t have him. I was considering throwing my gems/coins into getting Kingston, but other Atlantis HOTM available this month are looking meh to me.

For defense, I went with my toughest guys/healers with two pulverizers for damage (from left to right): Tiburtus, Wu Kong, Kashhrek, Boldtusk, Grimm. I was thinking of leveling Li Xiu to 3.60 and putting her instead of Wu and move to the middle. Then, maybe Kiril instead of Grimm for more toughness.

I have mats to ascend one of my 5* to 3 or 4* to 4 - which one would be the best one? I was thinking about Grimm to boost his defense.

Hmmm where to start?
First of all welcome to the community…

U should not bother leveling ur 5* before u got a solid base of 4* maxed

As for ur question which hero to ascend I vote for Boldtusk… he then can be ur tank aswell

For offense u should try to get more heroes per colour to go 3/2 or 2/2/1 … colour stacking is most important and on lower cup range it makes a huge difference

For ur defense i would go

Kiril - Tiburtus - Boldtusk - LJ - Grimm

Out of curiosity, why Kiril in the corner? My thinking is that healer/tank should be more in the front to cast his spell to protect guy behind him charging his dmg spell

Having Kiril + BT next to each other would basically make your opponent throw tiles at them with no real danger for them.
That would get them to charge their specials and take down your offensive heroes one after the other.
But separating them, if they try to dump tile at them, they might also charge Tibs who will hit quite hard after being buff by either Kiril or BT. Also, BT will cover the healing at the start of the fight and once/if he dies, then Kiril might be ready to fire and heal/buff your remaining heroes.

BT, LJ, Grimm and Rigard would be my picks for ascension. Li Xiu should get the 5th pair of mats and that would give a great offensive/defensive start.
Rigard - Grimm - BT - LJ - Wu

I ascended Grimm and Boldtusk, working on getting them to 70. I need only one compass to ascend Rigard and he will be probably next. I think for greens I will wait for next Grimforest, maybe I will pull off Hansel or Caedmon.

I got recently Sonya and Scarlett, are those two good? I need a sniper but Sonya looks more like a tanky hero while Scarlett looks really squishy.

Sonya and Scarlett are both priorities. They can go in the offensive part of your stack, or they can be part of the safety, providing dispel or attack down at fast speed. Both are worthy of emblems. I emblemed them both down an attack route, but you could go defense with no shame, especially for Scarlett.

Sonya is very useful and used to be my raid tank for a few months this spring. I have one at +18, all-defense route and she can survive every special received with no problem.
Seeing your roster, you also lack a 4* dispeller so she will fill this spot with great success

I pair Sonya with Grimm everywhere and she hits for 500-550, after Grimm def down, which isn’t too bad.

As for Scarlet, her special is very useful and she hits very hard. I haven’t emblemed mine, as i have other options, but my wife has one at +15 and she loves her!
Both are worthy of being ascended and will complement very nicely your teams and will give you flexibility and the ability to chose which hero to bring, depending on the opponent.
