Gravemaker is arguably still a top five hero because of his mana speed, high DoT, and extra damage against Nature heroes. Add in that he is probably the only hero who can slot in at spot on a defense team. His tiles are actually high enough that, barring a pretty good red roster, he’s a reasonable attacker on green titans. Because his damage output is so high he could go out on every raid - it basically means that there’s no configuration that he doesn’t add to (even if he’s not optimal), whether or not he’s paired with more red heroes.
Now I’ll try to write that same paragraph about Malosi.
Though reports are still coming in, Malosi appears to be just an okay hero, despite his mana speed. His damage is weak for a sniper and he only shuts down one hero (and not even their whole special, e.g, Kunchen will still heal, Telluria will still put up minions). He has no real place in defense because the AI is extremely unlikely to time his special correctly, nor to hit a hero who is charged or close. His tiles are high, so he warrants consideration against purple titans. He will need the proper support to succeed in raids - depending on the defense you probably still need other heroes to maximize his effectiveness. He can’t shut down all buffers / ailment producers, so you’ll still need to make more conventional plans to dispel / cleanse / mana control.

Gravemaker. He is able to kill all your team.
I am still leveling mine and he should be decent for the present reality.
Telluria has really impacted the game way more than I ever expected, and she is a pain to deal with Velas and Graves flanks, so any hero capable of protecting a DoT or Mana control will be very welcome. I decided to take a second Zimmy and left JF at 70 because she will be much more useful.
I dont know if SG was expecting a 100 point trophy jump with her appearance.
But it has hapened and it has made the game worse because now all you see is the SAME formation, only wings change sometimes.
I am taking emblems off Guin, who has become obsolete with Telluria. Every single top alliance is using her and she is handing everyone a bunch of 0s, 1s, 2s etc… on the war she is what she looks like, a beast.
So Malosi will be very handful when his 6 tiles help out cancelling that mana drain. Still u need other great heroes, Mitsuko and compnay to bring Velas and Finleys down.
I hope he is decent i got 5 malosi

And between Grave and Malosi? No brainer gravemaker.
Malosi is also very fast in mana and hits twice as hard as Geavemaker, I do not understand why that current so favorable to Geavemaker … with that I do not mean that I doubt your opinions, I just say that at first glance it seems doubtful.
If you have both, I would aim toward ascending both. However, when it comes to emblems, GM should get them over Malosi. Malosi is a hero that is mostly going to shine on offense where you can control what he does rather than the AI, which is dumber than a bag of bricks. GM on the other hand can be dropped onto any team and make it better, defense, offense, wars, tournaments. The only place he falls a little flat is against titans.
You’d be hard pressed to find anyone with knowledge and experience of this game that wouldn’t put GM in the top 5 best hero’s. He’s an absolute powerhouse.

Excellent post as always. Please advise. I have GM on 18 emblems and flank on my def team. Malosi at 4/80. Should I wait until GM is at 20 before giving Malosi emblems or is 18 the place to stop? Malosi won’t make my def team. I have no other 5* Barbarians. I would value your opinion. Thank you in anticipation
EDIT: I have 3 Azlar and 2 Okaban none of which are maxed. I should have said I have no other contestants lol.

Short answer: I would stop GM there. Whether or not you give Malosi talents should hinge on how well he performs at 4.80. If he does’t need them to survive then I’d just throw the rest into storage. I’d consider a four star if you have one you use a lot.
Personally, I stopped my GM at either +17 or +18 - can’t remember. I have Grimm at +18 and the rest of my Barbarian emblems waiting. I don’t love any of my candidates: Gretel, Little John, Gormek, and a 3.70 Malosi I’d have to max (do have 13 Darts but for some reason I’m just really reluctant - I do NOT have a yellow mana troop, which presumably devalues him quite a bit). Truthfully, I’m holding out and hoping Azlar comes out of TC20. I like slow heroes and I think that, especially with emblems, he’d help on green titans.

I was considering Grimm who is maxed but with 0 emblems. He deserves some love. I use him on mono more than Thorne because I also have Richard and Lupis for splash.

Edit: Interesting that you want Azlar. I have him on 3/70 and the rings but I am holding those and hoping for something better. I just never took to him.

If Grimm makes your vs. red titan team then all the more reason to give him emblems! He’s also pretty beastly in many 4 star raid tournament formats. He’s still squishy, but it’s not quite like watching him getting one shot by Lianna types in Diamond again and again - he can stand up to the four stars decently.
I’ve never pulled a classic red 5 star. I think I have like 18 rings, so I’ll definitely max Azlar if I get him. Or Elena. And obviously Marjana. I have posted this elsewhere, but I think the real question for me is: do I max Khagan if I get him? 
I know the computer is asking me if I want to revive this topic, and I think the answer is yes because it pertains.
I have a maxed and emblemed costumed Gravemaker. I also have a second maxed and costumed Gravemaker and a maxed Malosi.
I can fully emblem one of these. Do I give them to Gravemaker or Malosi?
I’m going to be biased as I don’t have Gravemaker, but I take Malosi every time I raid. Many of the new heroes are based on status effects and stacks and Malosi can negate most. I can usually fire him before any taunt heroes, which makes them useless for the most part. Would be nice if he affected more than one, but he’s still someone you can’t count out on the offense.

Gonna go against the grain here… for me the clear choice is Malosi.
Just under Hiemdall, he has saved me from utter failure COUNTLESS times. I feel gravemaker is overhyped due to the summer of 2020 meta, and his VF speed.
