Title says all. I am trying to plan ahead for the final level now that i have province 23 unlocked. I was thinking of taking Li Xiu, Hu Tao, Chao, Grimm, and Proteus. In terms of items, potent health potions, regular health potions, Dragon banners, and either axe attacks or arrows foe the final item slot. Just note, I do not have any five star heroes period. I am restricted between 4 star and 3 star. Here is my roster of heroes:
I think you should bring a healer. Li + Chao + Proteus seems to be enough to prevent the dark lord from using his special. I would level up the heroes (at least the 4* you suggest should be on tier 4). Besides, its totally doable with 3* and 4*. I defeated him with Bane - Cyprian - Kailani - Sonya - Hawkmoon, all of them fully leveled up. There’s no need to rush it anyway, the dark lord hits really really hard, I underestimated the power and lost Bane too soon the first try. I tried right after with a better selection of items (mostly mana) and took about 10-12 mins. The dark lord charges mana very slowly and that’s why I thnk that those 3 I mentioned won’t let him fire. If you decide not to take a healer with you, then be sure to bring enough healing potions

What’s the rush? I can understand trying to finish season 2 for the mats as well as the coins along the way.
I would keep farming 1-8-7, 1-6-8 without having to use a lot of pots and mats to finish season 1.
You’ll get there when you have more maxed 4*.
If you decide to still finish sooner, then ghost tiles along the edges and that should make it easier, good luck.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I am wondering which healer to dump emblems into. I have over 120 cleric emblems and just under 100 monk emblems. I know the monk emblems I want to save for Li Xiu. My clerics on the other hand I only have two characters of that class that I could possibly take. Hawkmoon and Kailani. Game doesn’t want to give me any of the other good clerics. Game hasn’t been kind to me on the healer side either. I only got two out of all the time I have been playing. And I just got them in the past two months or so.
@Aunty_Krauser best 4* healer is rigard with his cleanse. Cleric emblems to him will be a good start. Hold on to the emblems until you get him. As an example, I have 450+ sorcerer emblems that I’m sitting on.
Defense > Health > Attack
If you have Wilbur and Wu, your monk emblems should go to these two at least class 2/3. They’re key to good titan hits which is where you’ll be getting most of your AM drops.

I sadly do not have Rigard, Wu Kong, or Wilbur. In terms of heroes, I keep getting the bird on that front. Even when I get the free epic hero tokens, 85% of them have been rare heroes. 
Make space for antidotes. Dark Lord casts poison with moderately high DoT. And his minions cast def-. I would swap the regular health potions out for the basic or super antidotes.
So long as they get leveled, your team is solid. I cleared it myself using a rainbow team of 4*s. And my wife cleared it with Kailani, Li Xiu, Wu Kong, Melendor and Little John. Stacking yellow makes it much easier. So you can definitely do it, but so long as they get levels.

Proteus will most likely reach 4-70 first as right now he is tier 3. Line up will most likely be Kailani, Chao, Li Xiu, Proteus, and Grimm. Items will be regular healing potions, super mana potions, Dragon banners, and arrows. Subject to change once I do have him though.
I did the attack path for Wu, put 7 emblems on him, was that a bad choice? Should I reset and do health and defence?

Seems like it would work, though too bad you don’t have a healer. You may want to bring revive scrolls JUST in case, and save them for Proteus and/or Kailani (who in my opinion are the most critical of your team to keep alive). Drop the arrows if so. So, mana potions, health potions, dragon banners, revive scrolls. someone also suggested antidotes, which could be good… but then… not sure what item to drop. maybe dragon banners as Kailani boosts your defense already, while Grimm’s defense debuff is like a pseudo-attack buff.
@sleepyhead Yeah all the good 4 star healers are eluding my bacon at the moment. Only healers I got on my main profile are Belith and Hawkmoon. My alt profile has Boldtusk. If I happen to get Vivian, then I will be putting her in the mix. I still intend on putting Kailani in there.
Belith could be a good choice to include over Grimm. I suggest you try with Grimm first, and if it’s too tough without a healer, bring in Belith or Hawkmoon, whichever is stronger.

I think that’s fine. Wu Kong’s attack stat is strong. Save the reset emblem only to move emblems from him to a 5* hero.

Bring a strong team. Hence the focus on maxing at least one 4* team plus a specialist or two in other threads. If you do this, and you bring basic heal, mana, and antidote potions with arrows…The Dark Lord will be easy.

@sleepyhead For most of the time I have been playing on my main profile, 95% of the time I have been playing without healers as they want to play hide and go seek with me whenever I pull from TCs or summon gates. In the past couple months is when Belith and Hawkmoon dropped for me.
@Aunty_Krauser I feel your pain. I had to wait about 3 months before getting Hawkmoon and Belith, but by that time i was towards the end of Season 1 and in the underwater stages of Season 2. I only had Gormek, Proteus and Lancelot maxed plus baby Aegir and Skittleskull. poor Belith, despite being maxed, kept dying easily. it took about 3 more months before Sabina and Kiril both finally arrived within a week of each other.
hang in there. the stronger healers will come eventually

@sleepyhead Thank you for the encouragement. Funny thing is, my alt is getting all the healers. In my last set of two pulls I did for July’s Atlantis Summon, my alt got Sabina and Agwe as the final two pulls. 
Well, now that I have Leonidas, I am gonna replace Li Xiu with him. Hoping to have him at least at 3-70 before facing ye ol Dark Lord.
You can do it with who you have hes not super hard to where you absolutely need all 5*s, I surely would take Proteus though, block him from getting his special off as much as possible, Li Xui is helpful too while blocked you can subtract his mana, and I would surely take a healer even if it’s Hawkmoon or Belith, and the key is to knock out the two he has with him so you can spend tons of time ghosting tiles to charge your heroes the idea is to not let him go off because he hits pretty hard and has DOT but other than that you’ll be fine just be patient and wise and you’ll beat him with no problem

@1Peterboy I just feel that Leonidas can do more in a single swing. Cause he takes 40% mana off and he heals himself. Also my holy bench in terms of levels could be loads better. I have to work more on getting the levels up. Heck my Bane isn’t even 3-50. I am saving my monk emblems for Leonidas, of which I have 160 of them waiting.

He’s not as hard to take down though, if you’re coming with all 3s then fear him but you have 4s and you don’t have to necessarily worry about stacking holy heroes against him as much as you should be wise in who you take. Since I completed season 2 I farm at the dark lord for exp and I’ve beaten him without him ever going off once with Hel, and Li Xui special, you can do likewise with Proteus and Li Xui and or Chao just take out his lil imps first otherwise you’re going to have serious problems I would sub in your lineup Grimm for a healer and if you’re going with your heroes as is right now then I would trade out Li Xui for Belith because you’re definitely going to need a healer or take some strategic weapons like tornadoes, time stops, things like that. Leonidas would be nice but he’s not mandatory
