Hero roster advice needed

Hi guys! I have been playing this game for 3 months and I wanted to know your opinions on my defense team roster.

I only have enough warm capes to ascend 1 blue 5* to 3-70 so I’m at a loss if I should level Ariel or Magni.

My current roster:
Quintus Magni Ariel Kelile Hu Tao
(2-60 for all 5* and 2-50 for 4*)

I’m slow at leveling because I’m still working on a decent 3* team for challenge events.

I just got Caedmon (vs Little John) who I wanted because he dispells so I plan to level him to complete my rainbow team so either of the 2 blue 5* heroes will have to go.

I also plan on changing Kelile because I recently pulled Gormek, Scarlett and Boldtusk. Who do you think should replace Kelile? Who in these red heroes are best for offense and/or defense?

I also have Rigard and I know that Ariel is like an upgraded version of him but Quintus has saved me in raids before (even though I know people call him a bad 5* sometimes) so I’m reluctant to let go of him.

Normally, I would prioritize a cleanser so I was thinking of putting in a healer only between Ariel and Rigard but I learned that BT has revive talent to add to his attack buff so I’m also considering him too to keep Magni and Quintus in my team (though I still think cleansing is very important). What do you think?

Also, in these heroes I mentioned, who do you think is the best tank?

Thank you in advance to those who will answer!

Ariel is more important than Magni for the synergy with all of the other heroes (everywhere).

If you don’t have Grimm, I would level Gormek. Don’t discount Kelile, she’s a good, fast hero with burn effects.

Ariel is infinitely better than Rigard. No question. (due to mana boost)

Potentially drop Gormek in at Tank until you have Ariel 100% maxed. You don’t want to have too many non-hitters in your defense (e.g. Boldtusk, Ariel, etc).

And you are already trying to decide between two five-stars (one a highly desired Atlantis hero)? How much money are you spending? LOL

So you’ve got all these five-stars, but still haven’t leveled a three-star team? I’m afraid you are going to be missing out here. Do you have a leveled four-star team?

Consider that a four-star hero at 4^70 is often stronger than (or at least as strong as) a five-star hero at 3^70, and faster to level as well. So you’ll spend more time, food, and feeders levelling your five-stars to get them stuck at 3^70, and they still might not be as strong as a good four-star that costs the same materials, but way less time and food. How are you going to get those super-rare four-star mats to take your five-star heroes to their final ascensions?

Meanwhile, you don’t have a competitive team for rare or epic levels of monthly challenge events, and if your five-stars are stuck on 3^70, you may not be able to finish legendary either. (potentially lost mats) You also have no bench for alliance wars or for color stacking vs. titans (assuming you are in an alliance). That’s a lot of opportunities for rare mats that you are leaving on the table.

At three months in, I would have probably done the same thing as you, but I’m F2P, so the only thing my roster had in common with yours at that point was probably Kelile! BUT, slowly building a good three-star team, and next a good four-star team, really helped me in the long run. Now I have a serviceable bench, I can complete all three tiers of most challenge events (swapping out the reflected color), and I do the most damage against titans and in wars of anyone in my (admittedly very small) alliance.

You can’t buy rare ascension mats, my friend, so you need to maximize the ways that you can attain them.

So, what about working on a decent four-star team like Caedmon, Boldtusk (or Gormek), Rigard, Hu Tao, and whatever decent four-star blue you can dig up? I think that team will compete for mats in a variety of settings much faster than slogging through the process of leveling your five-stars to the next ascension wall. Just something to think about.

Noted. I would probably do that when I have finished leveling up a decent 3* roster plus have more ascension items. Thank you for replying!

Good idea. I would say that Ariel has been so much fun for me, even at low level, that you would also enjoy her. Right now, mine is 3rd tier, ~30 level

Thank you for the insight. Unfortunately, I only recently learned that it is better to have a maxed out 3* roster before working on a 4* then 5* roster. I am only a new player so I didn’t know how hard it was to get ascension items. I haven’t touched my 4* roster and left them at 2-50 because I realized that I have to max out my 3* team first haha.

Thankfully, I’m only C2P. I bought a 1 month VIP pass and a few discounted gem offers. I got Quintus on my 1st pull for Wonderland quest, Magni for 1st pull for Ice Elemental hero and Ariel for free via 2nd pull from season 2 Atlantis coins. My other 4 stars I got from TC12 or Elemental chests + other epic hrro tokens I collected.

I have Kiril and Triton for decent 4* blue heroes. Who do you think I should pick?

Me too. I always use her in my offensive team. But as you’ve read she’s stuck on 2-60 for me. Still very useful in all aspects of the game though.

If we’re talking about only 4* heroes, what roster do you think I can best work with?
Rigard/Tiburtus
Kiril/Triton
Caedmon/Little John
Gormek/Kelile/Scarlett/Boldtusk
Hu Tao/Li Xiu

Thanks!

here is my suggested priority:

1-kiril
2-tiburtus or gormek
3-caedmon
4-Li Xiu
5-Kelile
6- Triton
7- Boldtusk
8- rigard
9-scarlett
10-Little John
11-gormek or tiburtus (whomever wasnt done)
200- Hu Tao

Level with same color for long term fastest leveling. Try not to collect more heroes than you can level.

I’ll take your advice into consideration after I’m done with my 3* heroes. Thank you! :relaxed:

Wow! You’ve had incredible luck. Congratulations.

As for who you should focus on leveling, I’m going to take the liberty of using the list you provided in the other reply so I can consider your whole team. With the disclaimer that I haven’t actually obtained/used several of these, but have faced them in raids and read others’ opinions of them on the boards, I think I would level either Kiril and Tiburtus together or Rigard and Gormek together. Either pairs an excellent healer with someone who has the ramming pulverizer special, which is SO helpful. (I have the entire ramming pulverizer trio maxed). I’m leaning toward Kiril and Tiburtus. Rigard is a better healer than Kiril, but the drop-off from Kiril to Triton in blue is much steeper than the dropoff from Gormek to basically any of your other reds. With Kiril already buffing attack and Tiburtus already lowering defense, you should probably strongly consider Scarlett as your red. Hard hitter with a special that debuffs enemies’ attacks. For green, I’d go Caedmon over Little John, since you have no other dispellers. In yellow, I haven’t used either of your options, but I’d go with Li Xiu. My experience with Onatel (my only five-star) tells me that mana control is a valuable thing.

Thank you! I’ll arrange my teams with the replies here as guide. I’ll take your answer into consideration after I have my 3* roster maxed. Thanks again for the reply. You really helped!

Hi again! Who should I use as tank on the 4* team that you mentioned? And what positioning would be best for them? Thank you!

You know, there isn’t going to be a super clear cut answer on that. None of them really excel as tanks, and none grades higher than a B in Anchor’s guide. Personally, I’ve seen Kiril at tank several times and been frustrated by his ability to heal before I can kill him, but I don’t have him, so I can’t say if that matches others’ experiences. Given your lineup, he’d be the first one I’d try. Would love to hear other folks’ ideas here.

Scarlett is considered very “squishy” (easy to kill) and is more of a hitter, so I’d probably keep her on the right wing. Seems like I typically see Li Xiu on the wings as well, so maybe station her on the left wing. Caedmon on the left flank and Tiburtus on the right flank, with Kiril at tank. I think that’s how I’d line them up, but again, some other folks have made a straight up science out of raid defense. I’m more of a “fill my raid chest and try to stay in the platinum cup range” kind of guy, so ymmv. Good luck.

I’ll try those position when I work on my 4 star team. Thanks again!

Another noobie here: same type of question though. My defense team (team 1) gets slaughtered on a nightly basis. Would anyone want to take a stab at what “fixes” are needed? This is my hero list after about 2 months of gameplay:

Ciao, al momento credo che boldtusk e kiril, ottimi guaritori, dovrebbero rientrare nelle tue priorità. Buon gioco
