I’ve never made one of these, but I’m seriously paralyzed with indecision. I only recently started maxing my 5*, and I’d rather not spend mats on any, than spend em on someone who doesn’t deserve em (as I played without using mats entirely for over four years - so I can deal)
This is the one element I have struggles with deciding, so…
I’m asking anyone willing to help: do any of these 5* deserve to see mats? If so, who? & More importantly: who first?
Now my main priorities are offense first, defense last. I would rather get playtime with my hero vs just place em once and forget about em entirely. Therefore, the more versatile, the better (and I do not play uber-competitively btw).
I’d love to hear from anyone, but more especially, those who’ve used any of these heroes below, and seriously love em
My Thoughts
Rayne is desirable to me, as I saw how great she was just at 3/70, so I can only imagine her power upon being maxed. That, and I have Quintin I can pair with her. However, with D’Artagnan already out now (and better in almost every way) I fear she may soon be inferior… am I wrong? I hope to be, yet the fear persists.
Narcisa would be my first go if I had Panthers costume. However, I lack that synergy, and already have Bastet as an AoE for defense. I also have Rhys maxed in Bards, and eventually plan to max Winifred as well. So Bard bonus? Less enticing. She’s beautiful, but I’m curious regarding her use case offensively
Goretooth may have been my next choice if he were at 3/70, but at 2/60, he’d be further behind the curve. That, and he really needs Khonshu to really shine, and he’s stuck at 2/60 as well Otherwise, I figure his most important skills work the same at 3/70 vs 4/80, so if all else fails, he can wait
Khonshu for reasons listed above: to eventually pair with Goretooth. Plus, I think he’d be a fun hero offensively, as I love mana / mana control heroes Not really a fan of snipers tho, so only reason he’s in line at all. & Just like Goretooth, he’s stuck at 2/60, so will take longer than I’d maybe like to wait
Lu Bu I’ve always loved, and I know he’ll only get better once maxed. Immunity to buffs via fiends is so freaking powerful And he’ll be another hero I can use in rush. Even have Ludwig to help speed him along. However, nearly half of my already maxed purple 5* are slow, so idk if I can justify maxing another this early less he may still be used offensively outside of rush.
Xnolphod would’ve been maxed in a second pre- nerf, but post-nerf, I don’t know whether he’s even all that viable offensively anymore. Sure, rush he’d be solid, and in a purple stack, maybe… but since I don’t use emblems, nor have maxed magic troops, I lack the necessary mana bonus to hit said breakpoint that I originally benefitted from when he was at 20%. So without that, I just wonder if he’s worth those mats or not
Agrafena is an underrated star, offering so many variations of support, and making an excellent titan hero (especially paired with her younger brother, Sergei). But since the charge mechanic limits play so much (no rush, risk in defense), the lack of versatility has me worried. That, and while her supportive options are plenty, I wonder if they’re enough. Nowadays, it seems it’s Over-Heal or no dice at all
OK, so Onyx I don’t know if I’m considering, but I needed to fill one extra slot, and for a long time, I loved this dude to death. Offering a dispel + immunity so immediately was invaluable. However, I have Panther for dispel, and Lu Bu can offer the immunity in a better way. Plus, I have Hypnos maxed who does it all so much better. That idk if he’s worth considering anymore
Freya I received from Fated, and she was a hero I’d long desired for so long. Ofc, she’d be better with costume, but even without, having a fast pseudo-heal seems quite invaluable… given I have no faster heal in purple. That, and her unique ability with minions could be quite fun, even if she doesn’t mix well with my Hulda But, she’s also stuck at 2/60, so similar problem as Goretooth/Khonshu. And, I fear that without costume, her survivability may not be up to snuff.
Hel, my sweet Hel. The first coveted hero I’d ever obtained. For years, she was invaluable in my roster, and my most favorite 5* for nearly half a decade. However, nowadays, her stats are so behind the curve it’s not even funny, and getting her costume to help is nearly impossible. So while I’d love her mana control more available at my disposal, I wonder if it’d still be worth it. As… can she survive? Plus, I already have Alfrike maxed, so while you can never have enough mana control, idk if it’s as vital of a role to fill atm [in comparison]
Goretooth stuck out like a sore thumb to me - very fast can’t gain mana for 3 turns?! (is it 3 turns or 2 turns?). Seems like the perfect hero for titan, offence and wars…
On that basis alone I would go Goretooth
He seems potentially useful in your purple stack - for shutting down someone who might hinder Ludwig / Alfrike, before you get to charge them up. Although your purple stack seems pretty nice at the moment, and I would struggle to decide who to replace lol.
Such a tough choice. I’m going to go with goretooth for the control he brings at very fast. Love love my Khonshu but I think Gore brings more usefulness that’s brute power. Dark horse is the Lu Bu for the Ludwig neighbor. Astounding heroes!!
Narcisa for Bard bonus in a warteam. With six war flags 6 battle ready bards are desirable. The new meta is ultrafast! Win in six tiles or you are doomed against some defenses. Thats where Hel shines, her dtsts are outdated but way better than Proteus, you can buy time by stalling mire than half of opponents team.
Aggrafena for Titan with Panther is great and very versatile on attack. Goretooth is a very good sniper, but in the end only a sniper.
In the end all your shown heroes deserve the mats. I assume you have stockpiled mats for a douzend in each color, so you do not make a mistake ascending any one. It comes down to playstyle and - its a game- your gaming experience! Which hero is the most fun gor you to play of these?
I was having a similar issue. I’ve decided that Gorethooth is getting my tabards.
Khonshu is a lot of fun in a purple stack but I had him maxed before I got Goretooth
Lu Bu next to Ludwig is a nightmare, especaily if you throw G.Panther in for a triple stack but, again, I have him maxed before I got Goretooth.
Freya is fun in a minion team but I had her maxed before I got Goretooth
I do not have Narcisa or Xnolphod of the remaining ones to be leveled but I have the rest currently waiting behind Goretooth. I personally went with Goretooth over the others because of his speed (I don’t have many fast/V.Fast purple heroes), his mana control means I will likely use him in more areas than the others and I already have a few Healers and support heroes in Purple. I needed a more attack minded hero
Conclusion: I would say… (I know, the suspense is insane!) Goretooth
I think goretooth will age the best. DD is always relevant as well as mana control. Narcissa is great too. I also agree with someone that mentioned onyx. Great against heroes with buffs and preventing them. Hes not as powerful as others nowadays but his antibuff capabilities are always going to be relevant as well. Its a difficult decision with most of them, but a good problem to have. Im just thinking about offensive. Good luck to you Randah!
Sorry but she knows how much she needs to spend and she never levelled her 5 star hero’s for 4 years so it’s obvious she has bunch of unlevelled hero’s. This confusion is common in most player whether they are new player or old
Exactly this These debates have been around longer than I have. I’m not any different, just cuz it’s my first ask in nearly five years lol
Seems to me, the only one here with a problem is you. As me? I’ve quite enjoyed my roster, thus far
…But people only lash out like this when deep down, they’re envious (and/or feel superior), so while your comments were entirely uncalled for, and unhelpful, I’ll choose to see em as a compliment

Wanna thank all of you for sharing your 2¢ with me here. Thanks to y’all, I had the courage to make a decision, and chose Narcisa first. However, that decision only came to be because Goretooth is stuck at 2/60, so he would’ve taken longer to max (and I have my own way of leveling 2/60’s to 3/70’s… OCD)
But consensus was pretty clear, that no matter what happens, next purple max will be the pig & Possibly Khonshu after?
(Thankfully, I have the mats, so it’s just a matter of time between em…)
& For the most part, this has been helpful, so maybe I’ll be back with my next conundrum. I’m sure it’s only inevitable as I make my way thru my roster with these mats
(After all, I didn’t go four years without maxing anyone because I was a pro at making decisions )
