[Guide, 5* Duplicates] How Academy, and Costumes v5.0, changed the 4* / 5* hero inventory or Gryphonknight’s General rules for 4* / 5* inventory management [Empires v43]

Costume 5* Meta

Theoretically, for optimal costumes, you want 2x to 7x of each good 5* hero with costume

In reality,

5* heroes are too expensive ( Food, Hero XP, ascension items, emblems, aethers, etc. )

How do you decide what to keep?

Summary

Depending on your roster, play style, micro transaction budget, and luck, between 35x and 200x 4* / 5* heroes

HA10 retraining 5* and 2022

Keep enough 5* 1.1 for HA10 retraining 5* heroes, and coming soon, 5* duplicate hero mechanic ( 2022, see notes )

This amount will depend on your micro transaction budget, roster size and play style

This general rule may conflict with other general rules. As always, this depends on your roster, play style and heroes involved

Weeding your 5* inventory

As a very general rule of thumb

Keep 2x of each 5* hero that you own a good costume

1x of each decent 5* hero you are missing a costume

This general rule may conflict with other general rules. As always, this depends on your roster, play style and heroes involved

Teams, 5* heroes

Keep enough 5* heroes to have 2x decent 5* defense team and 5x decent 5* attack teams ( usually 7x of each color for a minimum of 35x 5* heroes )

This general rule may conflict with other general rules. As always, this depends on your roster, play style and heroes involved

5* 3.70 and 3* ascension items

Ideally, non farmable ascension items would be balanced ( 3* / 4* )

The costume 5* HotM spend depth business model prevents this

Many top players have a bazillion 3* ascension items ( non farmable )

Keep 1x to 2x extra of an hero that is good at 5* 3.70 and you do not have the costume

Keep 1x to 3x extra of an hero that is good at 5* 3.70 and you own the costume

Pro tip: Save lots of swords ( wooden ) for Common recruit training RT01 , and clothes ( rugged ) for Extra fast recruit training ( RT19 ) if leveling a lot of 5* 2.60, or 5* 3.70, costumes

This general rule may conflict with other general rules. As always, this depends on your roster, play style and heroes involved

Fear Of Missing Out, 5* heroes

If you are a hoarder, and have the budget, you can keep 1x of each unique 5* hero you own

Depending on your roster, the recent HotM families really changed some HotM, for better ( looking at you Elemental rainbow link minions that effectively stack ) and for the worst ( also looking at you Elemental rainbow link minions that effectively push out better minions )

This general rule may conflict with other general rules. As always, this depends on your roster, play style and heroes involved

Big spender, 5* heroes

If you are a big spender, keep 7x mono 5* teams of each color, for a total of 175x total 5* heroes

including

1x mono 5* teams of each color made up of only 5* 1.1 heroes for ingredients.

If all 175x 5* heroes are 5* 2.60, or higher,

than an additional

1x mono 5* teams of each color made up of only 5* 1.1 heroes for ingredients. Total of 25x 5* heroes for a grand total of 200x 5* heroes

This general rule may conflict with other general rules. As always, this depends on your roster, play style and heroes involved

4* heroes

SGG has been silent on 4* heroes

But 4* heroes used to be important ( see notes )

And SGG has started working on catch up mechanics for new players

So we might see the 4* duplicate meta change

But until we see something about 4* duplicates in Beta Beat:

Provisional General rules

Weeding your 4* inventory

As a very general rule of thumb

Keep 2x of each 4* hero that you own a good costume

1x of each decent 4* hero you are missing a costume

This Provisional General rule may conflict with other Provisional General rules. As always, this depends on your roster, play style and heroes involved

Teams, 4* heroes

Keep enough 4* / 5* heroes to have 2x decent 4* / 5* defense team and 5x decent 4* / 5* attack teams ( usually 7x of each color for a minimum of 35x 4* / 5* heroes )

if you do 4* tournaments / 4* Tier of Challenge event

including

Enough 4* heroes to have 2x to 4x decent 4* defense team ( total 10x to 20x 4* heroes ) for tournaments

and

2x to 5x decent 4* attack teams ( total 10x to 25x 4* heroes ) for tournaments

and

2x to 5x decent 4* attack teams ( total 10x to 25x 4* heroes ) for 4* Tier of Challenge event

This Provisional General rule may conflict with other Provisional General rules. As always, this depends on your roster, play style and heroes involved

4* 3.60 and farmable ascension items

Many players do not have enough non farmable 3* ascension items

or

have a very unbalanced collection of non farmable 3* ascension items due to Merciless RNG, 4* / 5* hero summons and 3* / 4* ascension item loot

Keep 1x to 2x extra of an hero that is good at 4* 3.60 and you do not have the 4* costume AND you do not have a 5* 3.70 equivalent

Keep 1x to 3x extra of an hero that is good at 4* 3.60 and you own the 4* costume AND you do not have a 5* 3.70 equivalent

Pro tip: Save lots of swords ( wooden ) for Common recruit training RT01 , and clothes ( rugged ) for Extra fast recruit training ( RT19 ) if leveling a lot of 4* 3.60 costumes

This Provisional General rule may conflict with other Provisional General rules. As always, this depends on your roster, play style and heroes involved

Fear Of Missing Out

This Provisional General rule may conflict with other Provisional General rules. As always, this depends on your roster, play style and heroes involved
