Overall Iām pretty happy with my final standings.
I did kinda try to compete in Rare to try for the tabard but I ended up at the point where I was just burning items and chasing my tailā¦ so I stopped
I originally was JUST going to compete in Rare & just complete Epic & Legendaryā¦ But as I said, I ended up just chasing my tail in Rare so I went & redid some Epicā¦ Ended up easily pushing into the 5k bracket, probably could have made 500 if Iād put some more & earlier effort in.
Legendary I let slip this timeā¦ Tried running thru it in Mono but ended up with a really bad scoreā¦ Didnāt bother going back & wasting WE on improving every stageā¦ Next event Iāll go back to running 3-2 or 2-2-1 through legendaryā¦ Doing that usually nets me in the top 10k, allowing a potential platform to push top 1k.
Teams:
Rare
Mainly used the 4-1 team. But also ran the two mono teams a fair bit (Green & Red)
Legendary
As I said, only used Mono Red hereā¦ If I could āDo Againā I would probably have run through using 3-2 with Red & Purple heavy stacksā¦ Ahh well
Main goal was the World Energy Flasks which I happily got in all tiers. The bonus 3x Titan & Raid flasks are niceā¦ Plus the summons tokens which have been banked for now.
Oh and the +30 backpacks are nothing to complain about either
yeah, epic is normally the hardest to rank, but for some reason it seems this time around reaching top 5000 in epic was a breeze. I hardly redid any stages and didnāt use as many items as I expected.
This was overcompensated by the fact that rare and legendary took a lot more items and retries than i expectedā¦ out of items now.
good thing i made all my goals (esp for legendary, would have sucked after using so many items and not make top 1000), although i did give up on top 1000/500 for rare/epic on the first day.
That said, mystic vision saw that I didnāt get my darts, and so gave me some after the event
Dawa, Dawa, Renfeld, Graymane, Prisca, Dawa, Friar Tuck, Hu Tao (yay!), Renfeld, Kailani
CONGRATS to all those that achived their goals and got rewarded for it.
I found this event to actually be a bit easier than the last few events and I used far less items on these than I have had to in the last few.
Nice to get a breather, lol.
As for summons, my rule of thumb is, if you a 3*, stop and try again later. I did a couple summons using only the free tokens and gems and only got 3* s so now waiting for next monthās event.
Hey everyone I have to say that it seems to me that the numbers of gems required in general for different tasks have gone up tremendously lately. With the Valor game (I love it but wow in order to participate seems like I am buying gems every few minutes and not just there all over E&P. If this keeps up I may have to stop playing which would break my heart to be sure. I was shocked when I checked my accounting for the year to see how much I have already spent on the game as a whole. It is easy in the throes of the game to lose track of a quick gems purchase. I have a couple of issues that are stewing so I wanted to contribute to this conversation because one if them directly relates to pulling heroes. As a serious player I do my best to get the seasonal heroes and bonus heroes, and others as they come up. I have to say that I resent buying enough gems to get whatever number I want and then getting three or 4 of the same character and duplicates of others too. In one case I only got 3 or 4 total different heroes in 10 draws, sometimes more duplicates. I did mention this to customer support and the answer was relative to the economy of the game. Ouch! Also, the competitive quests and some others! The last several I have played the last phase seems unwinnable. I played it over and over and spent a small mint on gems to stay in the game. After something like 45 minutes having to die up then trying again and again and still not winning over and over and over plus buying more gems to keep my game alive ~ I lost all that money in a game that seems to not be winnable at all. This has happened to me numerous times. The healer heroes gang up on you at the end with a powerful enemy or two and the player doesnāt stand a chance unless they are seriously well off for gem buying. And there seems to be no way around them they keep firing at you whatever they have and you canāt get a retaliation in between it all. Maybe there is some secret to winning and if you know one I am all ears. I am beginning to feel as if I am getting scalped because everything I attempt to achieve more status, scores, wins, whatever it applies across the board, this game is getting to be too much about the money and not about the players having a non stressed great time.Games are for fun but the economy of this one is one sided. I have a zillion heroes and have ascended many many of them. I have a stack of 5 waiting for me to ascend but honestly the amount of food required is prohibitive. Also I got the lodge months ago. It kept requiring me to upgrade my food storage over and over again. It was something like close to 3 months before I could even use it due to the requirements I had to fulfill. Finally I got in and am able to craft harpoons but to level up or get to the next item is megabucks too so it has had to wait. I would love to hear that the game economy wasnāt like the rest of the world and fairly contributes to the players without costing so much. Just saying. All that said I love the game and am addicted to it. As for the game play I am otherwise a happy player. I am really appreciating all of the activities this week and the wins and rewards in Valor. Please donāt hear this as whining. I am not. Just being up front honest about how I have been feeling. I am not sure after all that I have invested how much longer I will be able to keep up with the cost. It feels unequal. Thanks for listening.
ps this also applies to the costumes might get 4 of something 2 or 3 of something else. Once I only got 3 or 4 heroes for instance (making this up because I canāt remember the exact ones) Hawkoon x 4, Bane x 2 or 3 then another one or two.
Gonna say thanks for all the advice, I managed to ascend Hansel and completed legendary L15!!! Cost me 75 gems to do, then pulled Lancelot so overall happy last night
It should be said that you can absolutely beat legendary without 5* and without spending gems.
Since you said youāre all ears, my suggestion is to stop buying any gems and instead experiment with new combinations of the tons of heroes you already have to beat these events. I donāt mean this in a rude way, but you seem to feel that throwing gems at the game is the way to make it behave. However, this isnāt necessary and if itās causing you anguish it should be stopped. The real competitive edge to the game is to slow down, think carefully about what heroes you bring (highest team power is often not best), and to think carefully about the moves you make.
Shameless plug, but an honest attempt at helping: Check out my YouTube channel where I take this strategic approach to my hero selection and my gameplay and am able to beat all challenge events and able to beat the strongest teams in the whole game.
Yep any team can be beaten. Maybe an explanation on how to setup your s1 hero defense that will be just as good as s2 or event hero defense would be a big help too, Iām all ears?
Without the costumes, s1 heroes simply fall short of s2 heroes and event heroes. Thatās just a fact of the game. Some s1 heroes are still competitively relevant though, like Joon, Lianna, and Magni, etc. That being said, probably any defense of maxed 5* will keep you close enough to diamond arena so you can still open all your chests in diamond, which is all that matters.
However, the point of me sharing that video was not to show that all teams can be beaten, it was to expose someone, who felt they were stuck and out of good options, to a channel focused on strategy and board movement as a means to improving the chances of winning.
Hey thanks for all the great advice. Ok confession I am 62 years young and came across this game nearly a year ago. I am not a gamer as a rule but this one really got me interested. I literally dove in almost a year ago and had no clue what I was doing. Managing pretty well except for the gems part. So I donāt have a lot of savvy as to what you are sharing, I have no idea what all the abbreviations you all use when you write on the forum and I really appreciate that you do. Since I wrote I was able to find some of what I was looking for. I truly donāt know how to play without the gems and wow it has added up. I am not throwing gems at everything I am trying to further my heroes and other experiences in the game and donāt know any other way to do that. I am trying to learn. That is why I finally wrote. I know, well doing my best and I love paying with all of you out there. Mr. Spock will check out your vid when I have a few. And to all of you who took the time, thanks. In the meantime what is the diamond and how do I get there??
No worries, happy to help. The video I shared is just so you can access my YouTube channel where I have a lot of videos that will be very helpful for you, based on what youāre saying
Lastly, ādiamondā is the top raid arena where the best items from filling the hero chest can be had.
Iām about a decade your junior - lol - but I know what you mean. Thereās still a lot of the subtleties of the strategies that fly over my head but searching and reading various threads here means that I soak up quite a bit and have at least some idea of how to improve.
So, just keep reading and asking question. Iāve found everyone so friendly when I ask polite questions and they have given me so much useful advice. Since being here my scores have soared and Iām confident that Iāll continue to learn and grow even though, like you, money and gems are a bit limited for me.
Iām a whole year younger than you (a mere spring chicken!) and have been playing a little over a year. Luckily I discovered this forum very early on; itās a true wealth of good advice and encouragement.
For events there is indeed a secret to winning, and his name is Proteus He keeps bosses unable to fire by preventing mana gain. Sadly he is not much use in Pirates of Corellia, which is due to be next monthās challenge, as it reflects purple, so the poor fish-man would poison and mana stop himself. I may have to learn to play.
I still have no idea how that guy/girl won rare tier with such a high score (2nd event in a row iirc). The difference between their score and the rest of the top 10 is ridiculously wide.
When youāre dedicated enough & have enough $$ to spend, you can simply start & flee until you see both a perfect opening board AND have a chest there to killā¦
The top 1-5 USUALLY employ the āstart and fleeā approachā¦ Not just for Rare but for Epic and Legendary tooā¦
Read here for description by ULCAPac (#2 in Legendary):
Also in chatting with one of the other top 5 players in Rare, they said that they spent ā23-24 hours replaying rare stagesā
