Fated Summon, 5* for new C2P

Hi guys,

Really appreciate this forum, got some great advice a while ago as a new player – and now I’m back!

Just hit 100 summons for the Fated Summon portal, and I have no idea what to go for. My roster is pretty limited since I’m new and C2P, and I’ve been focusing on getting my 3* teams up first. I’ve already been reading about recommendations, but often it’s been veteran players from their pov and with a huge 5* roster.

What about new players like myself. Maybe it doesn’t matter that much at this point? But still, there’s a long time between getting 5*. Who would you recommend and why? Is there any aspect of the game I should focus on more at this point than others, and for that purpose I should go for one in particular? Is there a more “all arounder” hero suitable for many situations?

I’ve heard good things about Freya and Ariel, but also Tarlak and Skadi. Although some of them have costumes now, and those are better? I’m so confused.

Here’s my current roster:

Ariel seems to be the answer, even without costume she’s a really nice hero.
Tarlak helps you A LOT getting better score in regular and mythic titan, but you can get similar results with cheaper option (bertulf, new 3* Yellow healer from abyss hunter, etc)
Freya is nice as war tank and autoplaying, o if you combine her with some other minions Hero.
Skadi requires a team on her own, with AT LEAST cKiril… I found her awesome and quite effective, but maybe you’re “not ready yet” for her

Go through your roster. Work out what you need.

Do up a list on excel / Google doc or on a big enough piece of paper:

By Element

• Healer / Cleaner
• Healer / Dispel
• Healer / Other
• Taunt
• Counter 1x
• Counter 3x
• Counter 5x
• Dodge
• Reflect Yellow
• Reflect Blue
• Reflect Green
• Reflect Red
• Defence Down 1x
• Defence Down 3x
• Defence Down 5x
• Attack Down 1x
• AD 3x
• AD 5x
• Mana block 1x
• Mana block 3x
• Mana Steal 3x
• Mana Steal 5x
• Mana slow down 1x
(Repeat for 3x, 5x)
• Silence 1x
• Silence 3x
• Ailment Block 3x
• Ailment Block 5x
• Mana Effect Block 5x

Add on Minions / Fiends

Think that’s about it for support

• Attack 1x
• Attack 3x
• Attack 5x

Some names will be repeated cos attacker attacks plus give AD.

Once you have done up your list. Look at the shortest column of names or those with no names.

Those are the areas you should try to fill first. To have as many options as possible when it comes to putting together an attack or defence team.

That’s what I was taught.

Keep updating your list. You will be happy with the progress. And at the same time mindful of the gaps in your roster.

To Black Zed’s list above I’d recommend you make a separate category for “Healer / Overhealer.” There’s a reason why overhealers are the meta. You have costume Kashrek so that’s fine to overheal 3/5 of your team but if you ever pull an overhealer with full team coverage then focus on them. I was able to use two unlevelled Celidana’s fresh out of the summon gate in the contest of elements and despite being level 1 they both survived because of the surplus health. Bonus points if you can combine an overhealer with a riposte because then you can take on opponents way beyond your power level and let them kill themselves on your counter. (And, no, I’m not recommending you take Elena from the fated summons, because you can eventually make your own out of TC20, or have her pop up as an off banner summon.)

Also, how long do you think it will take to do another 100 summons? If it’s over a few months, and if none of this current list jump out at you, it might be better to wait for the list refresh (in April?) because the options might be better the second time around. Take the first soul exchange (Skadi, Gravemaker, Kilhare) vs the second (Mother North, Lepiota, Lord Loki, Lady of the Lake, Grimble, Black Knight). Take the most recent soul exchange - Ludwig for 15 souls! The game seems to be getting more generous with top tier heroes.

Nice list, but you will never get Poseidon this way. Cause he would be here only as a yellow hit-one, and his most unique capability (protection from mindless attack) will be lost.

Thanks for picking up an area that I omitted when I did up a quick list for the OP. The start of a template for a roster analysis. To guide OP on how to review his own roster. Part of his growth in this game.

In this case, player just needs to add another category: ailment block and mana effect block.

There will be more to add on to that list. I am sure there are more.

You can always do up a fully comprehensive list for the OP. I am sure that the OP will appreciate your effort.

I rather meant this as an example of difficuty of doing this kind of list. As the list of possible cathegories would be probably longer than most F2P/C2P rosters.
For example, there isn’t a very important cathegory - EDD for each element.
Also the short line

really represents a quite long list of minion spawners, minion destroyers, minion steal, minion protection, minion buffers and many kinds of minions, and alike for fiends.

It’s a start right ?! Gotta start somewhere ?!

How else will a player learn to self diagnose his roster for starters? How else will he grow?

Sure he can post his query on forum.

Without knowing his preferred play style, his game focus, his 3/4Am stock, his emblem stock, his aether stock, he still has to vet through responses and then figure out which suggestion makes the most sense.

That’s where the list will be useful.

Do you have the mats to ascend any of the 5 stars in a particular color? That said, Ariel is always useful for players starting out.

You are looking for a hero to help you out down the road after you have worked on your 3*/4* teams. That said, don’t bother with the first row. S1 heroes are the most readily available 5* in the game and you are better off choosing one of the rarer ones here.

So, which of the others is the best choice in the long run? IMHO the following:

  • Onatel – mana control is always a good ability to have at your fingertips
  • Ariel – still a top notch healer and one of my most-used heroes
  • Tarlak – very useful for Titans, and is the one I am going to choose when I finally reach 100 later this month
  • Skadi – great finisher for endgame of raids and also helps with minions, I also use her for Undead Horde war defence

I would say best long-term choice would be Ariel or Onatel.

Ariel, you’re gonna need a lot of healers so you won’t regret it. Plus she has mana gen and cleanse.

Ariel is I think the best overall hero in the fated summons
Freya is a decent choice if your alliance plays with purple tanks.
Tarlak is a titan hero, but not as obligatory anmore as he used to be, many 3 and 4 star options exist theses days.
Skadi is a specialist (the opposite of a general purpose hero). Very good at what she does though.
You have a very good yellow hero, so I would skip that color.
Other heroes of interest: maybe Mitsuko could be worth it for you.

But most likely 1 of the 2 first options makes most sense for you.

Thanks a lot guys for all your input.

It makes a lot of sense to me working on that overview that you mention @BlackZed It could really pay off, especially in the long run, even though it seems like a lot of work. I came across heroplan.io, which might be a place to start? An excel sheet made from scratch is a bit overwhelming.

@Chadmo No, unfortunately I don’t have the mats for any 5 star yet  I’m on my way though.

All in all it seems that Ariel would be the safe bet here. I like the idea of Onatel, but as @Gargon points out, I already have a good yellow hero, so I might be better off with someone else for the time being. Mitsuko also seems interesting (having a kind of counter attack? and mana reduction), but then again, Arial might be the wise decision here.

I agree with the Ariel feedback so all around hero. Once you are more developed the niche ones are more key such as Skadi and Poseidon.

One thing to consider, perhaps cutback to only VIP and POV (if you can get the extra ascension mat only) if you don’t have materials to ascend? You still need to work on 3* and 4* teams so no need to overwhelm yourself with new 5* you can’t even touch at this point. If you buy heroes now they will be more outdated by the time you can begin working on them, better to invest in pulls when you are ready to work on 5s.

Hi hi

I think, I would take Freya. :purple_heart: I can still recall being new, and how having Grevle and Kvasir from S3 helped me reach further than I ever could have without them. Minions or overheal just helps so much, especially early on.

Add to that, the Defense Buff she gives, and the mana cut she inflicts upon her enemies, when she´s taken down.
She´s Fast too.

I wouldn´t think twice about this, actually, Freya would be my first pick.

Good luck and have a great time :four_leaf_clover:

@Draerius Not sure what you mean with VIP and POV? Don’t get the terms I think. But yes, my focus is on 3 and 4 stars. I still wanna use my Fated Summon though, and at some point mix in a few 5 star heroes in my teams when I can.

@Gwniver That’s a curve ball  I can really see Freya being very useful early on, maybe even more so than Ariel, so maybe that’s the play now.

VIP is the daily bonus you get with gems, emblems and an extra free daily pull. POV is the path of valor which is relatively affordable for all the loot it gives.

Id take tarlak and i did +20 ( i have miki too) you hit a titan every day he heals . A good support hero that you prob use more day to day aswell in other parts of the game

Ariel and fryea are great choices i have ariel and she still does hold to this day for me in war offence . Fryea i dont have, personally id prefer bera me being picky … Your war Tank colour can change remember that …

Choose what you think you will get more milage out really and i think tarlak is that …

@Dudeious.Maximus Hmm, interesting. I can understand why he would be awesome for titans. Not sure where my focus should be though. If titans are really important early on, if clearing map stages are better to get some good early heroes for, if wars are important or even events.

But great advice from everyone, interesting to hear your thoughts. Even though many of you have different preferences and arguments

Important is what you like to play most. I personally enjoy wars the most (well maybe Monster Island, but well those don´t come around too often). So war is my focus then levelling heroes. I am in an alliance that is relaxed about titans, we kill our 12-14 star titans depending on how full the team is, but we don´t do minimum requirements on those titans, so I don´t need to stress about them, which means I am fine with Bertulf/Wu Kong and don´t need to force a Tarlak so I can do 10k extra damage on a blue titan.
Some people really like being competitive, then they will of course focus on event heroes…
It´s really what you enjoy the most.

In terms of loot: I guess titans are best for loot, but the loot does not depend much on how much damage you do, it mainly depends on the size of the titan and of course you have to hit at least once to get the loot. Your own performance is less crucial. Early on it makes sense to aim for 1% damage (meaning you do damage equal to 1% of the titans HP), there you move up 1 bracket. It is relatively easy to achieve that with low budget heroes like Bertulf/Wu some other 3 and 4 stars for EDD, DD, Att etc… Hanging around that bracket is a good idea in terms of item investment/loot return for newer players.
