This thread is to provide early insights and discussion on War of the Three Kingdoms Feature.

Don’t get too attached

Details from Beta, especially brand-new Beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual release.

It’s incredibly common that features are changed during Beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of Beta testing.

So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of features to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to functionality to be made.

War of the Three Kingdoms

This new event will come with new heroes, but Staff indicated that the new heroes will only arrive in the next Beta on 12th of January, 2022 2nd of February, 2022.

Event duration

Phase Duration
Sign-Up phase 1 day
Preparation phase 1 day
Battle phase 2 days
Rewards phase

Skirmish Rules

Some wording is changed in the bellow, but I have not marked them as they mean the same.

Scoring

Sign-up phase

You need to sign up for the event if you want to participate.

If you chosen NOT NOW you can reopen this screen with an icon next to Quests.

Once you have signed up you need to choose a War defense team.
Note: Defense team can still be changed during preparation before the War begins.
And you can edit your defense team even if sign-up phase, by clicking on the icon next to the Quest icon, and clicking on Edit defense team.

After this you were assigned to the Kingdom:

There are three Kingdoms: Wu, Shu, Wei

The proper name is replaced to Z in the above text.

Preparion phase

In Preparation phase when you first open the event, then this message will be shown.

Possible Warband names:
“Wu” Kingdom: “Skillful Swordmasters” (Banner color: Red)
“Wei” Kingdom: “Holy Seals”, “Meticulous Beavers” (Banner color: Blue)
“Shu” Kingdom: “Agile Wyverns” (Banner color: Green)

Now you can access the Battlefield too.
It is looks similar to normal war, but there are differences:

  • The field is a bit different and much larger to accomodate 100 players.
  • Due to space issues you can not see the allies (and I suppose later in Battle the opponent’s) heroes on the battlefield. Only the player name and Defense Team Power is shown. The online status of that player is also not shown.
  • The opponent’s defense team are now visible the same way as normal wars.
    • If you click on a player you can see all details what is normally shown in Wars.
      • So the online status, defense team heroes and TP, remaining flags, and you can also can click on Info button same as in wars.
  • Unlike the wars here you can get the same points for defeating a full team. So If an opponent’s heroes worth 35 points then you can get 35 more points for defeating all heroes, So 70 points in total.
(In normal wars the extra was just about 50% of the original points.)
  • Because of the above change you can receive about 2000 points for defeating all opponents, and not about 1500 what we have in the normal wars.

The screen layout is similar to Wars.

  • So you can see your team logo and scores, and the opponent’s score and log in the top middle, and you remaing flags on the top left area of the screen.
  • There is a setting icon bellow the remaining flags, where you read the Info for the War, and you can check your remaining heroes for battle same as normal Wars.
  • There is also an ingame chat option at the same area of the screen where we have it in Wars, and it can be enlarged by clicking on it. This chat window is only accessable from the event.
  • If you click on your and the opponent’s logo/scores on the top, then you can see the list of players with the Warband points like you can see it in wars, and the total score and unused flag count is also visible.

Battle phase

The battle is the same as in War, but here there is no special effect (no Attack boost, etc
).
You can see your hits in the attack history as in Wars.

You are receiving 3 flags when the war stars, and it is refilled after 24 hours.
So the total flag count is the same 6 as we have in wars.
The flags stack so if you do not use all of your flags on the first day, then you can still use them on the second day.

You get war points based on the selected oppointment’s point reward same as in wars,
but there is also a Warband Score, which calculated differently.

After each attack which result in non 0 points you get these many war points:
Gained warband score = Gained war points * Target team’s TP.

So if there are two teams one with 4900 while the other is 5000, and you attack both teams, and you gain 20 points after the hit, then you will get 20 * (5000 - 4900) = 2000 more warband score after the attack of the second team (100 000 points ws 98 000 points for the other target).

The defeated enemies resurrect after 6 hours after they are defeated first, which duration is increasing after each time it is defeated similarly to wars so: 8 hours, 10 hours, etc

If all enemies are defeated, then all enemies are resurrected.

There is a total health gauge bar under each player where you can see the total HP of that team compared to max health.
The actual heroes and their HP is still not visible unless you click on the player.

You can access the rankings from the war options icons, where you can see two tabs on the LEADERBOARD screen:

You can open other Warband’s information panel from top Warband panel, and you can see what is the war score of their players ordered in descending order.
You can also see their remaining total flags, and you can also check each member’s war defense team if you want.

Rewards phase

We have received the rewards now.
:warning: Staff indicated that the rewards will be most likely changed in the next Beta :warning:

You can get rewards from four sources:

  • Combatian War Score (Combatian War Score is earned by attacking enemy heroes. Stronger Heroes are worth more points. The more score you have the better the rewards.)

At first I thought this was going to be more content with more special flags with more loot. I see heroes are coming too though.
I’m excited for new content. Less so for the heroes.

Is this based on TP or health like war is (or perhaps some other way)?

How much energy do we start with, what’s the refresh cadence? AKA how many attacks do we get?

So we get randomly assigned to a kingdom. Is the easiest comparison war with random allies?
How many people are in a warband? Is there any particular benefit of each kingdom?

Assuming yes, this will create a lot of angry forum posts. We’ll start with random matchmaking which we all love today. Add in random allies that won’t all be nice (is there a kingdom/warband chat)? Some will pressure for outside apps. My least favorite will be missed flags. Some are accidental. Some will do it to be a troll.

While these may be annoying, it is what it is and I’ll accept it.

This will be a nice way to meet others.

I’m curious about matchmaking. Will I get matched with random folks across the games ~1 million players? Will top players only get matched with each other?

i missed seeing where the total energy was stated (if it was), but if the event is called “War of the ‘Three Kingdoms,’” then the energy is called “Three Kingdoms” energy, so the three applies to the name of the event, not that you consume 3 energy per attack. the nomenclature is consistent throughout the rest of the description, so i feel pretty confident in this interpretation.

i hope it’s not limited to 6 energy only though. it would be fun to use more of my roster, almost like additional war flags in a regular war. i just worry about how the teams are going to be randomly assigned.

also, once a player has signed up, is there a way to opt out? i doubt it, based on how the Raid Tournament works, but i figured i’d ask.

You are smarter than I am. Good catch. I’ll edit my post so I don’t confuse anyone else.

That sums up my feelings pretty well.

Especially the warband composition.
If it’s really random I think this could end in Desaster.
Either a good chance for fun and meeting great fellow players or extreme disappointment and outrage.

I mean if players from high competive alliances are mixed with people who will maybe attack 1 for the loot and that’s it and with motivated players who have but a small rooster I think that can escalate real quick.

But overall one of the changes I’m looking most forward because done right this could be super fun

So much I’d like about this but so much I worry about that would stop me participating.

I avoid toxic energy as much as possible and to be potentially stuck in a mixed group where people have expectations of different things would be very difficult for me.

Would probably end up sitting it out just from the anxiety.

I’m also apprehensive of being assigned to a kingdom with strangers. what If I’m not as competitive or hardcore as the others? I don’t want to disappoint anybody

Even if this turns into a disaster, I’ll still like it for free loot, assuming this doesn’t replace any other event.

^this is right. It will be interesting to see how it’s down.

I like this idea. I’m sure they’ll be plenty of feedback after the 1st run, but it was that way when Alliance Wars and other things were introduced.

An hey, you’re not forced to participate if you don’t want to.

There will be 100 people in a War Team.

I do not think that any kingdom will have any benefits.

I will only be able to answer these on Wednesday when the battle starts.

Over/under on unused flags?
I hope there is a score assigned to each player based on flags used and skill so that perhaps eventually matchmaking can better assign you to a good team.

We will see these on Wendesday

Currently we can only see the quoted texts and we can set a defense team and that’s all.

We can not see the battlefield.

It’s not so much not wanting to it’s more wondering how the warband creation will work. I’d hope it takes into account what level you are fighting at currently etc and maybe let you specify competitive or relaxed. So people who want to go hell for leather and co-ordinate/ micromanage everything can be in one group and those with a more relaxed take on things on a different group

Thankfully there are more new heroes too. We haven’t seen many of those lately

They give us more details when it is ready to go into the game from Beta. Hopefully they’ll realize your points too. It would be a shame if it would be a pain due to a few Toxic People.

So you can’t see who the others in your warband are yet, I take it?

Is there anything uniquely identifying your warband, a name of some sort? I’m curious about any possibility of color coordination on defense (among other things that could be coordinated
), it should be beneficial like in regular war. But no idea how this is practically possible. Maybe there will be lots of forum posts of people trying to establish communication across the warband outside the game
but it may all be like herding cats with 100 strangers who haven’t agreed to anything amongst each other.:thinking:

To be clear I’m not saying I want to play that hardcore with color coordination and whatnot, but I’m sure some will. If I take part I will aim to use all flags at least (same as regular war). At the same time if people are randomly thrown together - even if decently matched on roster strength - it will be unavoidable that casual and hardcore players and everything in between end up mixed in a warband. It’s probably best to just accept that, and not have too many expectations from fellow warband members. If it’ll be like this, keeping members isolated may be best to avoid stress and drama, but that could also make it feel less like a group effort.

Based on the info so far I’m not too sure what it’ll be like, but it seems like an interesting event. Looking forward to hearing how it unfolds in beta.

When I was younger I used to play a game called Three Kingdoms Fate of the dragon. I loved it, and I actually started learning English through this game. It is about China, about the conflict of the three Kingdoms (Wu,Shu and Wei). Perhaps we should expect new heroes from that period, like Cao Cao, Liu Bei and Sun Quan, the emperors of each kingdom

Is SG not capable of creating new content that doesnt involve a new summon portal? We get 10 summon portals for each small QOL improvement. My God.

Wouldn’t their payoff from the hard work of creating new content, be the revenue from the assoicated summon portal?
I thought we should be used to that model by now!

If you don’t want the new heros from the event don’t pull for them. Pretty simple.
