This thread is to provide early insights and discussion on the Hero Coach
Don’t get too attached
Details from Beta, especially brand-new Beta content, don’t tend to be very reliable for actual release.
It’s incredibly common that features are changed during Beta testing, or sometimes even after testing but before release. That is, after all, the purpose of Beta testing.
So I wouldn’t get too attached to any of this — it’s not unheard of for entire portions of features to be removed or reworked, or for radical changes to functionality to be made.
Hero Coach
This recurring event will allow players to level their Legendary Heroes to 4/90, in exchange for Gems.
Costumes can’t be leveled up with Hero Coach.
After selecting a Hero, the Hero Coach will show you how your hero will look like at 4/90.
You can only select a Hero to train, which is released earlier than 2 years (731 days) before the start of the event.
In the live game, players will be able to train one Hero per event.
Example Gem Costs in Beta (highly likely this will not be the final cost):
Training from 4/85: 18 Gems
Training from 4/80: 37 Gems
Training from 3/70 and 4/1: 334 Gems
Training from 2/60 and 3/1: 593 Gems
Training from 1/50 and 2/1: 815 Gems
Training from 1/1: 1000 Gems
Each level is reducing the Gem cost with 3-4 Gems. (~3.7 Gems / level on average.)
Hero coach takes any legendary hero (legendary only) and maxes them out. “Hero will be leveled dup to level 90, ascension level 4, and twice limit broken. The gem cost of training a hero is reduced if the hero has been leveled up.”
“Train one hero per event”
“heroes that were released 731 days before the start of this event”
Gem cost by hero level (I only have certain options to test here):
1/1: 1000
1/6: 981
3/45: 428
3/49: 413
3/70: 334
4/80: 37
4/85: 18
I don’t plan on using this for heroes at 1/1. But heroes at 3/70, I’ll do it. Even better for a hero at 4/80.
FYI this does not level up costumes.
(note, I play in top 100 alliance, this information was for my teammates, so YMMV)
Hero coach could be a good option to add some roster depth for a relatively cheap gem cost. Only the base version gets maxed (not costumes) but this could still be a substantial saving on ascension materials.
In beta you can only select heroes older than 2 years since release date. Here are some heroes I think are worth consideration:
S1 toon/glass heroes - these are all still relevant, and even though you still have to level the costumes you save a bunch of materials
Older heroes with recent costumes - e.g. w3k heroes, dark lord, etc
Older autotaunt heroes (Krampus, black knight, queen anne, Ludwig, kara) - these are all still useful tools, especially if you have costumes
Here are some other heroes that I think might have potential, if they’re currently sat unleveled in your roster (this list is not comprehensive, just some that stood out to me)
Cupido - still handy in rush
Guardian hippo - still has some utility
Guardian gazelle* - evergreen hero if you have costume
Oniwakamaru - one of the best heroes for current meta
Hathor - still good, especially if you have costume
Aramis - weak hit now, but undispellable ailment block is evergreen skill
Tinsel - synergy with pophit, though pretty fragile now
Ogima - bard + best minion eater in game when not facing w3k costume minions
Perseus* - still very useful
Hel* - decent hero with costume
Water pipe - still great control hero
Hammertusk - good still for mythic titans and events
Cleopatra - still good healer, especially with costume
Tetisheri*
Xandrella - fragile, but great anti blue hero
Sun Quan*
Rhys - bard healer, fragile but still has good team synergies
Phenexa - bard healer, fragile but still has good team synergies
Malin - still solid rush hero
Cao Cao*
Arco - still best anti fiend hero in game
Liu bei*
Diaochan*
Guan yu*
Lu bu*
Zhang Fei*
Zhuge Liang*
Mr pengi*
Dark lord*
Lord Loki
*Only really consider if you have costume
I have Justice at 1/1 with all costumes. I would consider to push her at 3/70 and then use this. At cost of 1 Dawa on average I’ll get 1 Damascus, 1 Tome, 7 Darts, 7 Yellow Aethers III, 10 Alpha aethers and bunch of other stuff. Fair trade I’d say. Costume I decide to LB2 (Toon) does need extra mats but still much less expensive than base.
Ludwig too. Emblemed on defense with Paladin Legendary troop he still works great and nobody does what he does. And yes, all W3K with costumes are worth maxing - I just LB2ed C-Zhuge Liang, LB1ed Lu Bu (C needs to be finished yet) and maxed Liu Bei’s costume. C-Diaochan is maxed ages ago. All of these with C-Guan Yu together will be massacre, yay.
This sounds like a good feature. I would probably use this on duplicates at 3/70 who are usable as more a luxury than necessity. For example, a second Viv would be nice, but I have enough healers, so it’s not a mandatory use of materials for roster depth in war. However, it wouldn’t hurt to have a second one available for Wo3k. I like this … lets see how it goes
Well in Beta, I did not need to use mats or aethers. But someone posted it as a bug in the Beta Bugs Section and Stuff said, they want to look into it. So we do not know, if its intended or not. @BlackZed @Noble_Weasel
I was going to ask the same question - are Aether, AM, feeder hero etc. required at all? If no, then sounds like a very good deal.
It is relatively easy to ascend the 5* to 3/70 and after that you can bump him to 4/90 with 300+ gem… which is not bad at all. That is equivalent to 1 Dawa and a fraction of Friar Tuck.
I am not a beta tester, and for sure there are people who can answer here based on knowledge, not speculation.
Regardless, I am sure the Aether and AM are not needed. Otherwise, this feature was essentially just free food and there would be no reason to limit it to old heroes. The fact it is so strictly limited (two years old heroes!) means you get free prestige resources through it.
If we still needed all the mats it would be a completely silly deal, all it would be is to buy a bunch of trainer heroes for diamonds lol. Nobody needs that.
The whole point is that you can get an old hero to LB2 without wasting mats you cannot afford to waste on an old hero.
