What are the best and the worst 4 star heroes by color? Who would you want/who would you wait to replace? Feel free to weigh in on other * tiers too, if you wish.

First some what I think in general about what’s good or bad.
- I think offence is much more important than defence. I am not talking about attack power versus “armour” but a hero that is good in an attacking team versus a hero that is good in defensive team.
This is since attack team is used to fill wanted chests, attack titan and clear quests. Defensive team is only used to keep cups.
By this follows
• fast is better than slow
• attack one is better than attack all
• I don’t like riposte
• I don’t like healing except when combo with buffed damage
- lowering defence is better than buffing damage.
- this mainly because buff damage doesn’t have as high impact on specials that is expected.
So when it comes to specific 4 star heroes: (best first, worst second)
Green: Caedmon, Mel
Red: boldtusk and gormek, Colen
Blue: Grimm, boril
Green: Caedmon, mel
Purple: tiburtus, Sabina and Cyprian
Yellow: chao, Hu

Boril, Cyprian and a bunch of other hero’s have it.

I’m new to this game but could you give your opinions on 3* character? I’m not a huge spender so I want to do well enough with what is given to me by chance … so any help would be appreciated!

Red : Azar, Nashgar, Jahangir, Hawkmoon
Blue : Valen, Karil / Graymane, Ulmer
Green : Berden, Brienne, Belith, Carver, Isshtak
Yellow : Bane, Ganju, Dawa
Purple : Tyrum, Prisca, Balthazar, Oberon, Renfield
Spirit link : I vote Gunnar > Kailani
Tyrum and Belith are good for taking away spirit links which can be annoying at that level, And belith is the only heal I would take for 3*. (All the 4* healers are Miles ahead of the game tho, so alittle bit of a waste but can be good filler if your luck is bad)
Brienne is still useful with 4* teams vs blue titans. 8* most will one shot her, 7* you can take 2 hits.
Balthazar just dies to one hit on titans which is why i put him low on the list, but in raids hes good. Prisca > Balth is the question.
Valen is no question, he alone makes your titan dmg go up soo much.
Graymane vs Karil, meh the same for a 2nd blue hero. Id go with gunnar 2nd then one of those for titan fights. Odds are youll have a 4* by the time all 3 are leveled up. (thats mostly a lie but we can always hope)
Azar, in my opion has no contest for red.
And bane is really good and free. Gan Ju doesn’t look bad, but i got Chao so early, that i never bothered leveling another 3* yellow.
TLDR : Azar, Valen, Berden, Bane, Tyrum + Spirit Link, Belith (Heal) and Brienne (Huge atk up).

Hi Ellilea. It is hard to pick a single hero because a hero that is great for your defense team is not necessarily good for an attack team. For that reason, I will make a list for both. The first name is the best hero, and the second is the worst. And of course, this is just my opinion.
Defense Team:
Red: Boldtusk - Scarlett
Blue: Boril - Grimm
Green: Caedmon - Kashhrek
Yellow: Li Xiu - Chao
Purple: Rigard - Cyprian
Attack Team:
Red: Gormek - Boldtusk
Blue: Grimm - Boril
Green: Caedmon - Kashhrek
Yellow: Chao - Li Xiu
Purple: Tiburtus - Cyprian

I hate facing teams with riposte, but I’ve never had a hero with it. Does it suck when used on your own team?

It has its uses. Especially for an offense team.
Save your riposte for when Lianna or some other hard hitter is ready. Or for when final stage of rare quest bosses are ready to hit. Then you pop it. Your hero might die, but you take them with you 
On defense it’s quite simple to save up a dispel for when it goes off.

I do have a dispeller, so it’s not as bad as it used to be. I also saw it recently work very well against strong rare quest bosses on a youtube video.

I would suggest Brienne is more than useful against any color titan; agreed with your titan levels and her usefulness, but below that she’s by far the best 3* in the game for titans. Valen good too.
That may be true raid attacking too, was playing her in low to mid cup raids (up to 1500) and if that buff gets up you simply obliterate opponents with tile damage. That said as you’ve noted she’s squishy but that is the life of a 3* facing leveled 4*'s.

My answer is based pretty much on raids, so how much i have trouble to take down an opponent:

RED - BEST - Boldtusk/Colen: Bold even nerfed is always a pain in the ■■■, not as much as before but still a great hero. (not by chance many top players has him in their team). Colen otherwise it’s pretty easy to take down, but his power it’s nearly the same as azlar, and thats crazy. Every time he shoot his special it’s a tragedy, so i usually try to take down first.
WORST - Scarlet: it’s just too easy to kill, and i don’t love power reducing hero. -
BLUE - BEST - Kiril/Grimm: Kiril same as Bold. Grimm gives massive damage, fast mana and defence down.
WORST - Boril: thats a hard choice, but his special can be total dispelled by some heroes, thats why. -
GREEN - BEST - Caedmon: Hands down. Maxed it’s hard even replace him with a 5*.
WORST - Skittleskull/Rabbit: Again i’m not a fun of power reducing heroes, and Skittle is slow too. I never fought the rabbit, and i think the reason is obvious. He sucks and no one want him in their team.
-YELLOW - BEST - Li Xiu, no doubts. Place her in the centre and you make cry a lot of people.
WORST - Chao: In theory he has better stat to attack titans and raids, but i find him… boring. I just use some other color instead.
-PURPLE - BEST - Rigard: Excellent healer and tank.
WORST - Sabina: better attack of Rigard, but for a healer is useless and there already are many greens with the ability to remove buffs from the opponents.

If you don’t have other attack buff options sure; that said, a lot of people do. Suspect she may still be the best 3* for such things, but she isn’t where she was.

The topic is 5 months old and I’ve long since completed all my 4* teams, but thanks for trying and have a good stay on the forums! Be careful, those recommended topics at the bottom are quite trolly and turn people into necromancers 
I might have a different 4* List. I think it depends greatly if I’m thinking offense or defense, Raid or Titan…
