Boldtusk at 4-70 is excellent. Heals, gives a strong attack buff and he himself is a tough nut so usually survives to fire his special. His tile damage is meh but his buff brings the entire team up.
The comparison is legitimate but this is why Anzogh is widely panned. The competition is fierce for a roster spot and there are many excellent heroes that take half the feeders and no rings.
IF you have no other red 5* and don’t expect to be doing many pulls then perhaps Anzogh makes sense. If you are building a bench and/or have other red 5* heroes then Anzogh is going to be waiting a long time to get to the front of the line.
I don’t see him as the steaming pile of organic fertilizer that he has been called but he doesn’t compare favorably to many other heroes in a straight head to head comparison. Look carefully at your team to see if he works for you with the heroes he would be paired with. He needs support around him to get the best from him, if he doesn’t have that support, wait.
Glad he was changed to average mana, but this is another hero I won’t touch unless there is a future buff. He’s just a glorified Kong, which is meh imo.
Generically, my advice would always be to ascend your good 4* before giving unfarmables to a 5*. I’m not saying I’d never reverse that order, but I’d want a strong hero who was good at 3/70. Think: Tarlak, or Ares on offense.
Anzogh is also heavily dependent on high stats for his utility, so he’s a miserable choice to leave at 3/70. If you’re not going to take him all the way, I’d leave him at 2/60.
There are a ton of good maxed 4* that the vast majority of 3/70 5* aren’t worth using.
I have about 10 3/70 5* and I don’t use them in war becuase there are 10 better 4*…
There is only like 3x 5* I have that I take over my second tier 4*. And all of those work becuase they buff other hero’s instead of doing anything useful themselves.
Thanks for sharing this, I was wondering how he does with wilbur, definitely better than I thought. This guys is made for a mono red team with wilbur in it.
For my style, he would work very well. I like Red of offense. I’ve got 2 Zimkitha, 2 Scarlett, and a Boldtusk.
As for replacing Boldtusk, possibly not, but I would prefer him to Zimkitha or one of my Scarletts… I could See Boldtusk, Magni, Anzogh, Sartana, Scarlett - would be a pretty heavy hitting squad esp after BT gives the 40% atk bonus. Could be interesting.
Those tense 1-on-1 battles at the end. You want every HP of damage you can find. I have won raids by using the 1-poijt damage from tiles with a missing color. The trend towards heroes that decrease in effectiveness as the foes weaken isn’t good. See: Kage, Anzogh.
Then on several occasions that Leonidas is really the king of end raids. I have won with him from 1v1 to 1v3 just because I get to ghost tiles while he just kills and heals.
So much fun using him after taking him out from the cabinet.
Wouldn’t Anzogh’s average speed make him better than Azlar as an AoE hitter? If so, while he’s not the next GM, he’s still at least an average 5* given Azlar is considered quite usable?
At 215% of 698, Anzogh hits with 1500 vs Azlar’s 1625. The DoT plays off against healing benefits, and so depends on how good your other heroes are and what they do with their longer life. The DoT is probably stronger on balance, but average vs slow mana is a big deal. The better defence stats for Anz help as well given the preferred tank/flank role.
I’m only three months into the game, so still lots to learn, but does the above analysis make sense? Or am I giving too much weight to the mana speed for instance?
